    what buildings and upgrades are needed to train royal bodyguards. I have 3 princes with like 1 to 5 troops in their units???

    You mean royal knights as a catholic faction or Ghulam bodyguards as a muslim faction? Then you need a royal court. If you mean royal bodyguards in a VI campaign then you need a royal palace.

    The king does, but not the princes

    (And you can't 'merge' men out of the king's unit into a prince's, at least as of VI)
