Default Rome Total War (gold edition)

First of all, thanks for all the people willing to help me out.

I recently bought the RTW gold edition in a store. After playing for a while i decided to look for some mods. First i tried the realism mod, for wich i needed the 1.2patch. But after installing the patch RTW didn't work anymore (said it couldn't find the CD). Tried installing the realism patch without 1.2 and that failed too.

Now i tried installing the Barbarorum mod and when i launched it it just opened RTW witout any mod changes.

This thing is driving me CRAZY, couldn't anyone out there please help me installing a mod. Doesn't even matter witch mod it is... I'd be forever gratefull!

I think this is the correct path:

    C:\thefolderinwhichyouhaverometotalwarinstalled\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War

And you don't have to patch the gold version (i think).

You need to install the mod into the folder that contains RTW.

For RTW Gold that's "The Creative Assembly".

RTW Gold is already patched to 1.5, and that is the highest patch, so you don't need any extra patches for RTW.

RTW gold edition is already at version 1.5 fresh from the box, I do not think you can go back to 1.2.
You have to start EB through its own shortcut ('Play Single Player'), not through the RTW one.

Make sure that you install the Trivial Script and use that to start the game.

and check that your shortcut points to the correct exe and also has the following format :

    "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -mod:eb -show_err -nm -ne

in particular note the 'switches' after the pointer to the exe, the key one is the '-mod:eb' which tells the game to use the EB folder for its information rather than the stock files in the main folder...

    -nm turns the movies off

-show error lets you see problems if they occur

-ne ?? don't know, saw someone else had it and I added it lol ... help anyone ?

    cheers,

    -ne means windowed mode.
