Yogal Sec-barr relieved a Jedi from his watch post. He had slept for 6 hours, which was plenty for his species. He took up a position overlooking one of the main reactors of the Star Destroyer, deep in the Engineering section. It seemed strangely quiet in there, even with the low hum of the reactor filling the air with white noise. Yogal could almost hear someone approaching, but he looked around and decided it must have been his imagination.

From the shadows behind him, a figure slowly stepped into the light. The figure raised its hands and they started to glow. Sec-barr heard the sound of soft footfalls behind him, and turned around just in time to see a bright flash of light. The force of the blow knocked his body into the guard railing and caused him to drop his walking stick. The electric current ripped through his body, filling him with terrible, horrible pain. Reacting instinctively, Yogal reached out with the force and shielded his body from the pain, and moved out of the way just in time to avoid a second blast of lightning.

However, the current ran through the metal scaffolding and ricocheted off of the structural supports and bulkheads, blowing out computer consoles and blowing out the overhead lighting. Energy poured through the fingertips of Yogal's attacker, and the lightning began to chain through several conducting objects, and re-direct back into the body of Yogal. The sentient's flesh began to burn and his outer shell began to melt, and he threw himself over the railing to prevent death. His attacker jumped over the railing and landed right next to him, as he lay on the floor gasping for breath. The attacker lifted him up and threw him against the wall, and Yogal got a good look at his attacker.

Yogal: "You.... but why? Why would you do this to me?"

His attacker said nothing, only looked at Yogal with a determined scowl, and began to fire lightning at Yogal again, penetrating the creature's force defenses. Yogal could take no more of this, and screamed in pain, rushing at his attacker, trying to tackle the figure. But the figure just stepped aside and fired another blast, ricocheting it off of the walls, the floor, and even the reactor itself. Yogal's body slammed into the reactor and burst into flames as he let out one final scream for mercy. But none was forthcoming. The body of Yogal lay smoldering next to the reactor, and the automatic fire suppressant system switched on, surrounding Yogal's body with an energy field, and the oxygen inside the field was quickly consumed and the fire went out by itself.

The figure walked away, back toward the darkness.

Jacin Sky returned from his business elsewhere on the ship, and took up a position guarding the entrance to one of the shuttle bays. He centered himself and reached out with the Force, and could sense danger approaching. He knew he was about to be attacked, so he drew his lightsaber and prepared for battle. He checked left, down one corridor, and checked right, down the other, and down the center corridor. He even looked up, thinking the attack might come from above, then he sensed danger behind him.

The shuttle bay doors slid open, and a figure was standing behind him with both hands raised, and made a motion as if choking Sky from a distance. His senses and his lightsaber were not enough to help him, and he dropped his weapon and staggered forward, unable to even turn around and face his attacker. He struggled to breathe, or even move, and could only crawl down the corridor as his face began to turn blue.

The figure groaned and clenched its hands even tighter together, and Jacin Sky felt as if his entire body was being crushed by a garbage smasher. He could feel the bones in his chest begin to weaken, as his esophagus closed up and his lungs started to collapse. With his last bit of consciousness, Jacin Sky struggled to concentrate and reach out with the Force, to protect his body from the wounds. The figure in the shuttle bay roared with contempt and continued crushing Jacin Sky, teeth clenched, trying desperately to end Jacin's life. With the Force releasing Jacin from the immediate pain, and supporting his chest just enough to allow him to breathe, Jacin Sky grabbed his lightsaber and ran down the hall, to the turbolift, to escape from the powerful attacker.

The figure in the shuttlebay roared with frustration, and motioned with its hands toward the ceiling, and the shuttles in the bay were lifted up as one and crashed against the the top of the bay, crushing them under the stress. Then the figure slammed its hands down to the deck, denting the duranium plating. The shuttles flew towards the front of the shuttlebay, and the entire star destroyer rocked from the resulting chain reaction of explosions, as their engine reactors were crushed. In the nightmarish inferno, the being that attacked Jacin Sky walked slowly toward the opposite turbolift, unharmed and unhindered by the burning atmosphere and swirling wreckage.

Nomi Sunrider - Grandmaster of the Jedi Order

Nomi Sunrider called the next meeting of the Jedi Council to order, and recounted the events of the previous night, as recorded in the Security Holograms.

"As you can see, there were more attacks on us last night. We do not know the identities of these two mysterious attackers, but one of our shuttle bays has been utterly destroyed and an entire deck has been flooded with radiation and burning fuel. The ship's safety systems have contained the damage, but it is clear that whatever is on board this ship could destroy us all at any moment, but is choosing to target us individually. It would be rather simple for any reasonably skilled Jedi to simply cause the ship's reactors to explode, and I am sure the Sith have that capability. I had actually been expecting such an attack, and that is why I hold my training sessions near the Engineering section so that I can monitor the integrity of the reactor cores and shield them with my thoughts. But our saboteurs and murderers aboard have not chosen that tactic. Unfortunately I was not able to intervene in the attack on Yogal Sec-barr in time, as the attacker had already left. There's nothing that can be done, his body is burned from the inside. It is beyond my healing abilities.

Last night, as with the night before, Jacin Sky was the target of an attack, and this time he just barely managed to escape with his life. We are glad to have you with us again, Sky."

Jacin Sky nodded at Sunrider. She continued.


"I sense a disturbance in the Force. There is something wrong here, terribly wrong. My powers only allow me to see so much, but I fear that in spite of our progress in removing one of the Sith, the Dark Side is only growing more powerful, much more rapidly than our defenses will be able to compensate for. We must continue our training, and keep our faith in the Light Side of the Force.

I had the same vision as before, clearer than before. There will be an attack on many of our Jedi Initiates, and I will do what I must to stop them from dying. That is why I will not be able to avoid my death, because it is better for me to die than for half of us to die. That is the path I walk, and there are no turns."


The Jedi murmur at this news.


"It is the will of the Force. But know this.... it is not a defeat. It is a triumph of the Light Side of the Force, that the Sith cannot face me directly, and must resort to this kind of attack. It proves that we are still much stronger than they are. When I am dead, more will take my place. You must not lose your faith. You must feel the Force around you.... even on the sterile conditions of this ship, we are many dozen sentient life-forms, possessing a powerful connection to the Force and each other. The planet we are orbiting is filled with many billion sentient life-forms and trillions upon trillions of other life-forms. This is one of the brightest places in the galaxy, teeming with life. For the Dark Side to defeat us here, much more powerful they must become. Cause fear, pain, and anger to flow within us, they must. To turn against each other, that is what they wish for us.

Do not waver. Find the remaining Sith, and bring them before me."

Nomi Sunrider gathered everyone together, back at the hangar bay.

"Have we reached a verdict?" Nomi asked.

The Jedi took a vote, and after some debate, many votes were changed, and the final vote tally came up with a surprise candidate.

"Yes we have, Grandmaster." said the ranking Jedi Master.

"Who did your feelings tell you was guilty?" Nomi said.

"Yala Edak, your grace."

"Very well. Let the accused have a chance to defend themselves." Nomi said, and motioned for the suspect to plead their case.

Yala Edak: "I am not a Sith, your grace, and I was only trying to find the Sith among us. I do not think I should be put to death."

Nomi Sunrider: "Do you have anything else to say in your defense?"

Yala Edak: "I do not agree with this system of deciding guilt. Why do we not launch an investigation, or seal off certain people in some parts of the ship, and try to logically narrow down who the Sith are? None of this seems very sensible to me."

Nomi Sunrider: "The Sith have a way of avoiding being caught by what is logical. They are very capable of tricking the senses, and clouding the mind. A firm resolve is needed, uncompromising. Sacrifices have to be made for the greater good."

Nomi motioned for him to go into the hangar bay, and then sealed it off. Yala Edak stood in the hangar bay, asking to be let back in, and asking them not to go through with it. With some hesitation, Nomi Sunrider switched off the hangar bay force field, and the hangar decompressed, blowing Yala Edak out into space. He died very quickly after a short struggle. Nomi needed to make certain, and so she locked onto Edak's body with a tractor beam and brought him back into the hangar bay. Medical droids examined him and found that he was indeed dead.

Nomi was displeased, and did not sense the Dark Side present in him.


Nomi Sunrider: "We have lost another of our own. I would ask you to meditate and clear your thoughts, it seems that your senses are not as attuned as they should be. Please report for night watch duty, those of you on Alpha shift. Beta shift, use your down time to purge your mind of this failure, and get needed rest. Remember to lock your doors and change your security codes on a shift-by-shift basis. Those of you who are scheduled for more training, please join me at the Holocron.

Tonight I would like to double the watch for the weapons, engines, and life support systems. It is less important that other ship systems are covered. Good night, and may the Force be with us all."

Sec-Sar Jor stood silently, in the shadows, keeping his eye on one of the weapons lockers. It had been an uneventful shift. He was actually getting tired, hoping that someone would come to relieve him. Right at the proper time, the turbolift opened, and a lone being stepped onto the deck.

Jor recognized the figure, but it wasn't the person who was supposed to replace him, so he waited in the shadows to see what would happen. The figure walked calmly down the corridor, and stood in front of the weapons locker. The figure looked around, and checked the control pad to see if the room had been entered. As soon as the figure did this, Sec-Sar Jor stepped out of the shadows and calmly asked what the cloaked figure was doing.

Sec-Sar Jor: Pardon me, Master Jedi, but you do not seem to be the person who was meant to relieve me. May I ask why you are here?

The cloaked figure turned, and immediately focused all attention on Sec-Sar Jor. After a few uncomfortable moments of silence, the cloaked figure spoke.

Cloaked figure: I was looking for you, actually.

Sec-Sar Jor: You seem to have found me. Why aren't you at your post?

Cloaked figure: Do not presume to ask me questions, Jor.

Sec-Sar Jor: Very well. In the name of the Galactic Republic, with authorization by the Jedi Council, I am placing you under arrest, Master Jedi.

Cloaked figure: Quite the contrary, you are the one that is under arrest.

The cloaked figure raised its hands and they began to glow. Sec-Sar Jor realized he was in danger, and reached out to the Force to give himself strength, but he was cornered. He raised his hands to defend himself, but it was no use. The cloaked figure unleashed a torrent of electricity from its hands, and the sheer force of the impact threw Sec-Sar Jor against the bulkhead and to the ground. With his connection to the Force, he managed to roll out of the immediate path of the lightning, and attempted to get to his feet, but a second arc of energy hit him in the chest and caused him to stumble. A third arc ricocheted off of the walls of the corridor and shocked Jor in the face. The young Jedi screamed in agony, and tried to crawl to the turbolift. The cloaked figure continued to advance, eyes burning with determination, ignoring the screams of pain. A more powerful wave of lightning burst forth from its hands, and Sec-Sar Jor bellowed one final scream before it all went blank. The figure continued firing, ensuring that Sec-Sar Jor was dead, cooked from the inside, filling the corridor with smoke and ash.

The deed done, the cloaked figure grimly returned to the turbolift, and said nothing more.


Another figure stepped out of the shadows and examined Sec-Sar Jor, but quickly fled the scene.

Ker-oth Ex kept watch over the Life Support systems. Being able to survive in an oxygen-free environment made him perfectly suited for the task of repairing that system should it be damaged. When Alpha Shift had ended, Ker-oth wondered where the person who was to relieve him was. A half-hour went by, and still no one came to relieve him. Finally he had enough of it, and went over to the comm panel and contacted Nomi Sunrider.

Ker-oth: Your grace, it is past time for me to be relieved, but my Beta Shift counterpart has yet to show. I request assistance.

Nomi Sunrider: I'll be on my way. Keep watch until I get there, Ker-oth.

Satisfied, the armored Jedi returned to his post, only to find a cloaked figure standing in front of him.

Ker-oth: What are you doing here? You're not supposed to be here. Where is Beta Shift?

Unknown: Resting comfortably.

Ker-oth: What do you mean? Are you supposed to be my replacement?

Unknown: I'm here to relieve you....

Ker-oth: That won't be necessary, Grandmaster Sunrider is coming to replace me.

Unknown: Good. I will relieve her as well.

Ker-oth: What are you talking about? I don't need to be relieved!

Unknown: Oh yes, you do.... you're tired. You're exhausted even.

The dark figure stepped forward, smirking.

Unknown: You can barely keep your eyes open. You find it difficult to concentrate.... difficult to stand..... difficult to breathe.... difficult to ponder your short, meaningless existence.

Ker-oth: Don't come any closer! Or I'll.....

Unknown: You'll what? Wave your little gaffi stick at me? You're too tired, master Jedi. You need rest. I'm here to make sure you rest comfortably.

The figure drew a red lightsaber.

Ker-oth: I'm warning you....

Unknown: You need rest.... I'm here to relieve you.... of your miserable life.

The figure drew a second red lightsaber, and flashed an evil grin.

Ker-oth Ex saw the twin red lightsabers, and froze in place. There was nowhere to go. The only exit in the life support room was covered by the cloaked figure. Ker-oth raised his walking stick in defiance of the cloaked figure, but it was knocked out of his hands in a fraction of a second, along with one of his hands. The other one was cut down just a half a second later, in a blur of shimmering red. The cloaked figure moved faster than the eye could see, hacking the armored crustacean creature into tiny bits, a piece at a time, savoring every moment, relishing in the carnage, laughing as the Jedi screamed in terror. The cloaked figure spun around and leaped forward, following the Ataru form, severing the Jedi's lower limbs and impaling him in the lower thorax.

Ker-oth fell to the ground and could only look up at his attacker in pain and confusion.... what prompted such cruel, sadistic behavior? Was it not enough to simply behead the Jedi, did his attacker really have to prolong and enjoy the process? The battle could have been over in a split second, but it wouldn't have been this much fun.

The cloaked figure stood over him, and swung his lightsabers at the chest of the fallen foe, cleaving the Jedi into pieces, and again. Then, eyes shimmering, the cloaked figure impaled Ker-oth through the skull with both blades, spilling what was left of his cranial cavity all over the deck. The smell of burning flesh was gag-inducing. The figure simply grinned, looking down at the remains of the Jedi, and fled the scene, just before Nomi Sunrider arrived.

The Grandmaster of the Order looked at what was done to the fallen Jedi, and fell to the ground in pain. She nearly wept for him, losing her control.

Nomi Sunrider: No more pain, master Ker-oth. Your death will not have been in vain.

Through the corridors, the sound of dark, sinister laughter permeated everywhere. The nightmare had only just begun.

Nomi ran over to the computer console and quickly checked the security recordings, to find out what had happened to Ker-oth's relieving watchman, Kaz'an Neimoidia. This is what she saw.....

Kaz'an Neimoidia woke from his brief, uncomfortable sleep. A loud tone alerted him that it was time. Another long night watch, another long day of arguing and bickering, and then, another 6 hours of restless tossing and turning.

He switched on the overhead lighting to see a cloaked figure standing in his quarters. Immediately, Neimoidia knew that his life was in danger, and rolled out of bed and sprinted into the other room. He didn't even look back to see that his bed suddenly burst into flames, and the fire suppression system had been disabled. The cloaked figure followed Kaz'an into the other room, where Kaz'an made his stand.

Neimoidia focused his mind on the Force, and summoned much Force energy to his command. He stood in a defensive pose and raised his hands, ready for his attacker. But his attacker just stood there, staring at him. Staring at him with dark, evil eyes.

Kaz'an started feeling intense pain... he found it difficult to concentrate, and hold on to his vast reserves of Force power. But still he remained motionless, prepared for the coming attack. But then.... a splitting headache. A sharp pain in the abdomen. Kaz'an's skin began to blister and boil.... and the dark figure continued to stare at him.

Kaz'an began to scream.... he screamed before he even knew he was screaming. He was experiencing agony he had never felt before... never even conceived of before. He fell to his knees, as his blood began to literally boil and his skin began to melt off of his body. His eyeballs exploded, and his Jedi robes burst into flames. The staring continued.

The screams of agony, nightmarish in pitch and volume, began to whimper and fade, as roaring flames engulfed Master Neimoidia. His charred, burning husk collapsed against the duranium deck plating, and continued to burn long after the cloaked figure left his quarters. The other furniture was also engulfed in flames, and the security sensors overloaded.

Security playback....... COMPLETE.

Elsewhere on the ship, a console overloaded and Jedi Initiate Pla-den Krul was instantly and unceremoniously killed.

Azurine Kadu stood near the doors to one of the Engine reactors, keeping careful watch over the area. At the proper time, the turbolift carrying Beta Shift arrived. Kadu welcomed the relief. The doors opened and a dark figure stepped out onto the deck, not at all who Azurine was expecting.

Azurine Kadu: Halt! In the name of the Jedi Order, I command you to identify yourself.

Dark figure: I am your executioner.

Azurine Kadu: You..... who are you? What do you want?

Dark figure: Are you deaf, Jedi? I said I want your charred corpse lifeless on the floor plating before me. I want the bodies of all your friends lined up right beside you. I want your precious little Jedi Temple to burn to the ground, and I want everyone who would think of questioning my rule to be put to a slow, painful death. I want to personally slaughter all my enemies, and conquer the planet below us, and all the other planets worthy of my name. I want every single living creature in the galaxy to bow before me. But for now, all I want is for you to be a good little girl and die......

Azurine Kadu: Do you enjoy hearing yourself talk?

Dark figure: Yes.... but I also like watching myself slaughter the weak. I truly hope this is being captured on camera.

The dark figure ignited its lightsaber, which burned crimson red.

Azurine Kadu centered herself, and waited for the cloaked figure to attack. The cloaked figure stood in a classic Djem So pose, and began to advance and demonstrate its mastery of Form V. Kadu reached out with the Force, at let it trickle through her body. Then she sprang into action, deftly dodging the strikes of the red lightsaber and rolling out of danger.

The cloaked figure, upon seeing this, too reached out with the Force and redoubled his efforts, moving faster, delivering more accurate and deadly strikes, and increasing his strength by a factor of ten. It was all Azurine could do to avoid being cleaved in half, but her agility allowed her to perform a flying somersault over the head of the her attacker, and dodge several more strikes with uncanny timing, moving out of range in a blur of speed.

The cloaked figure became enraged, and rushed forward to cut her down, but the nimble and quick Kadu sprinted down the corridor faster than the cloaked one thought possible. He was close behind her, and prepared one final thrust to finish it. Kadu closed the turbolift doors, just as the red lightsaber punched through and began to melt the doors. Kadu quickly keyed in an emergency override command, and got the turbolift to rise. The blade of the shimmering red saber cut cleanly through the floor of the turbolift as it rose, causing the lift to stall momentarily with a shudder. One of the drive mechanisms was damaged. The lift stalled halfway between the two floors, and Kadu forced open the upper level doors and wriggled free of the turbolift, just as the cloaked attacker below severed the emergency stop mechanism and caused the turbolift to plummet 30 stories to the bottom of the shaft.

Azurine Kadu escaped. A terrifying roar of frustration was heard, and a few moments later, one of the bulkheads was pulled from the superstructure and blown out one of the starboard corridors, and out into space, causing the entire deck to decompress. Someone had turned the emergency structural containment force-fields off.

Nomi Sunrider - Grandmaster of the Jedi Order

Nomi Sunrider called the next meeting of the Jedi Council to order, and recounted the events of the previous night, as recorded in the Security Holograms.


"There is no other way to say this. Last night.... we were shown the true power of the Dark Side. So many Jedi lost their lives, that we can only take small comfort in knowing that Azurine Kadu survived. The manner in which these murders were carried out.... is more horrible than I've seen before. The disturbance in the force that I felt before... it has returned. It is also obvious to me that we do not face a single foe... the time indexes from the security holograms indicate that there were at least two cloaked persons attacking us simultaneously. There may be others... I do not know. The Dark Side clouds everything. We still have a lot of work to do if we are to eliminate the Sith.

One of our own was also killed in a tragic accident. I can only suggest, in my sadness, that it was the will of the Force that this youngling was taken from us. No one regrets his departure more than I, because I knew him very well. I knew his family. I knew what kind of Jedi he was destined to become. But that is not to be.

The vision.... has come to me again. I can feel my own death approaching. I must hurry if I am to complete your training.

Clearer our minds must be if we are to find the true villains behind this plot. If a majority of you vote in the allotted time, I will accept your decision. If a majority of you do not vote in the allotted time, I will slow the ship's orbit and give you another 24 hours. Remember that you will be exhausted by the time the discussion is over, if I have to do this. Try to reach a decision before then.


Today, it is only natural that you would be feeling sadness for your fallen comrades. But you must not let your passions cloud your judgment. If there are any emotions you must feel, then remember that your friends have transformed into the Force.... they are not gone from us completely. If you listen carefully, you can still hear them. You must feel the Force.... through it, things you will see, other places. The future, the past, old friends long gone.

Do not despair.... that is also a path to the Dark Side.

Nomi smiled.



"The Force is with us. Be of good cheer, for our triumph over the Sith is at hand. We are not beaten, not yet, not by a long shot. At any moment, we could put a stop to the Sith. All we need is for the Force to guide us to the true culprits. And then victory will be inevitable.

Even when I am gone, I will be looking out for you. But before I leave, I have one last request....


Bring me a Sith."



Nomi bowed gracefully before the other Jedi, and returned to her quarters alone, to meditate in solitude.

Nomi Sunrider gathered everyone together, back at the hangar bay.

"Have we reached a verdict?" Nomi asked.

The Jedi took a vote, and the voting was surprisingly enthusiastic and near-unanimous. One Jedi even claimed that they knew who one of the Sith were, for a fact.

"I sense the Dark Side in that one, your grace! He's the Sith we've been looking for!" The Jedi shouted.

"Are you certain?" asked Nomi Sunrider.

"Yes, I know it is him, the Dark Side is there, I have felt it."

"Strange that I have not. But perhaps this training is making me lose my sight. Bring the Sith Lord before me. Who is it?"

"Lo'son Galeb, your grace!"

The other Jedi ignited their lightsabers in a show of force, and formed a circle around Lo'son.

"Allow him to speak!" commanded Nomi Sunrider.



Lo'son Galeb: "What are you talking about, fool? I am no Sith Lord. Your senses must not be very attuned at all!"

Nomi Sunrider: "You have been charged by your peers of conspiring to commit murder, sabotaging the ship, conspiring to disrupt the Coruscant communications network, conspiring to invade Coruscant, and several counts of murder in the first degree. How do you answer those charges?"

Lo'son Galeb: "I respond by pointing out how ridiculously wrong they all are. Not even close, not by a long shot. I don't even have a lightsaber!"

Nomi Sunrider: "That doesn't really mean anything. You could have left them in your quarters, or hidden them."

Lo'son Galeb: "Search my quarters then! What madness is this??? You have some problem with surveillance and random searches, but no problem outright killing a suspected Sith Lord? Without so much as a real and fair trial, evidence, or things of that nature. This is preposterous, the height of stupidity."

Nomi Sunrider noted the flash of anger in the young Jedi.

Nomi Sunrider: "You're very angry, young Galeb. Anger is a path to the Dark Side."

Lo'son Galeb: "Your grace, anger is perfectly natural and every Jedi here has experienced it before. This is turning into a.... a.... a wild Rancor hunt. Am I to be burned at the stake, next?"

Nomi Sunrider: "You didn't have a problem with these proceedings before now..."

Lo'son Galeb: "It's quite a different story when your life is on the line. You didn't give us much of a choice either, your grace."

Nomi Sunrider: "Your anger is directed at me, I can feel it. Do you bear malice toward the other Jedi as well?"

Lo'son Galeb: "Well I sure feel some now. Come and fight me, you cowards! I challenge you! I will prove that I am a Jedi!"

Nomi Sunrider: "That's not how we do things here. You're to be cast into space, the non-violent way."

Lo'son Galeb: *spits on the floor* "I am not a child. I may be a Jedi, but I am also a man. I demand to go out fighting, your grace!"

Nomi Sunrider: "Are you threatening us, young one?"

Lo'son Galeb: "No.... no, not even now, when you all want me to die. I'm not saying I wish to murder anyone. I just.... want to hold a lightsaber one more time. I want to die on my feet, in battle. Not even the teachings of the Jedi have purged from me that desire. It is common among my people."

Nomi Sunrider: "Frankly, young one, I am worried you are a Sith Lord and this is just your way of trying to murder one of us before you expire."

Lo'son Galeb: "Is there nothing you can do to grant my final request, miss Sunrider?"



Lo'son looked at Nomi Sunrider with the eyes of a beaten, saddened man. She could feel the anger in him subside, and the sadness begin to well. And she felt a touch of fear as well.


Nomi Sunrider: You will follow me into the hangar bay, and follow my instructions exactly. Understood?


Lo'son nodded. Nomi Sunrider motioned for one of the other Masters to toss her a lightsaber.

Lightsaber Battle: Tincow versus Askthepizzaguy

Nomi stood in the center of the hangar bay, and tossed Lo'son a blue lightsaber. Galeb wasted no time igniting the weapon, and prepared to defend himself.


Nomi Sunrider: "I will not kill you, Lo'son. But I will give you the battle you desire, as your final request. If any Jedi is to risk her life, it should be mine. Now, Master Galeb, attack me."


Galeb bowed gracefully and moved toward Nomi Sunrider, the sadness gone from his eyes. Instead of sadness, there was anger. He swung the blade ferociously, and Nomi gracefully deflected his blows, as expected. Still, the young Jedi pressed on.


Lo'son Galeb: "I am not a Sith Lord, Sunrider. You have been deceived by a lie.... they all were. You would cast me aside based on the word of that other pathetic life form? I looked up to you... saw you as some kind of leader!"


Galeb's swings became stronger, and more determined. He continued.


Lo'son Galeb: "But you are no leader! You cannot protect us! You cannot even sense the Sith right in front of your own eyes! You are the weakest Grandmaster of the Order I have ever seen! If Yoda were here, the Sith would be expired already."


Nomi could feel his rage building. Still she kept her defenses strong, deflecting all of the blows with ease. Lo'son reached out with the force, and began to move faster, and with more agility. His muscles became reinforced, stronger. His eyes had a look of profound passion on them.



Lo'son Galeb: "You should have trained them better.... you should have trained me more.... was I not worthy, in your eyes, your grace? That you would not even grant me a lightsaber? I could have been the greatest Jedi Knight in the galaxy! I could have personally defeated all the Sith! I could have been a thousand times the Grandmaster of the Order you turned out to be!"


Nomi deflected all of Lo'son's attacks without breaking a sweat or changing facial expressions. The young Jedi was beyond outmatched by the Grandmaster.


Lo'son Galeb: "Perhaps your refusal to simply attack me is your weakness. You won't kill me. I don't need to bother defending myself, I could simply walk toward you and strike you down!"


Suddenly, Lo'son challenged his fear, and charged toward Nomi, his lightsaber raised high above his head, angled down for a deadly strike. The move took the Grandmaster by surprise, and he nearly got past her defenses, but at the last moment, she used the force and augmented her speed, and sidestepped the blow just in time. Furious at this trick, Lo'son attacked her again, this time vocalizing loudly each blow. He tried to wear her down, simply overpower her, but the Grandmaster continued to fight. For a time, it looked as though Lo'son was actually succeeding, the Grandmaster's movements became weaker. She was not as young as she used to be, and she was stubbornly refusing to finish off Galeb with an attack. The prolonged battle was one she was not accustomed to. Lo'son tried another move, and attempted to Force Push her to the ground, and deliver the killing blow, but he was not powerful enough.

Nomi raised her hands and Pushed Galeb back, knocking him to the deck plating. Still undeterred, Galeb rose and charged at Nomi, lightsaber raised, in a Quixotic charge that even he knew was not going to defeat Nomi Sunrider. But he charged like a warrior.

Nomi met him head-on, clashed sabers with Galeb, and quickly disarmed the young Jedi, slicing off his hand, and Pushing him to the deck once more, defeated.


Nomi Sunrider: "That's enough, Galeb. If you are a Sith, you're holding back. I've had enough of this."



Nomi turned and walked to the starboard corridor, switching off her lightsaber and leaving Lo'son behind. She was displeased by the turn of events.


Galeb, on the other hand, saw his chance. Nomi had disarmed herself, and left him lying next to a perfectly good lightsaber. He took it in his other hand, and charged toward Nomi.


Nomi sensed this from the young Jedi, and turned around; reaching out with the Force, she switched off the Hangar Bay Containment Field. The bay decompressed in a matter of seconds, blowing Lo'son and the blue lightsaber out into space. Nomi herself shielded herself with a bubble of the Force, and held on to the airlock door panel so she would not get blown out as well. When the bay was fully decompressed, she switched the containment field on and entered the airlock, disappointed at herself for her failure. She actually suggested that the young man attack her.... that was her failure as well.


Lo'son may have lacked the Jedi discipline that comes with training, and purging one's thoughts of the Dark Side, but he was no Sith. He was simply a man. And he died a man's death.

Day ends at 11:59:59 PM Friday, November 5th, Eastern Time USA

That night, Nomi Sunrider ordered the Jedi to cover the Engines, Structural Integrity Field Generators, and the Turbolifts. Everyone was split up into Alpha and Beta shifts, and they went their separate ways. Some went to sleep, some trained with Nomi Sunrider, and some began their watches. It was all very orderly and predictable.

In the residential section of the Star Destroyer, Ushan Nihlek returned to his quarters. After witnessing the death of Galeb, he had much on his mind. Not surprisingly at all, someone was there waiting for him. They ignited a purple lightsaber.

Cloaked Figure: Going somewhere?

Ushan Nihlek: What do you want?

The cloaked figure sneered.

Cloaked Figure: Oh, I just want to talk. Isn't that why we carry these lightsabers? To talk things out?

Ushan Nihlek: Forgive me, but I do not understand your sense of humor. Now if you'll excuse me...

Cloaked Figure: Oh I don't think so. You're not going anywhere!

Ushan Nihlek: I disagree.


With that, Ushan Nihlek rasied a hand, and the Cloaked Figure lifted up off the ground, caught in the grip of a Force hold of some kind. The cloaked figure struggled, but could not break free. He watched helplessly as Ushan walked calmly down the corridor and out of sight.

Azurine Kadu began her duties guarding one of the many structural integrity field generators, in the lower decks, near the Engineering section, but closer to the Outer Hull.

Not even a half of an hour into her shift, she was approached by a cloaked figure.


Azurine Kadu: You.... what are you doing here again?

Dark Figure: Isn't it obvious?


The cloaked figure ignited his lightsaber, which burned crimson red.

Azurine immediately turned to flee, but the blast doors behind her were closed by an unseen force. She turned back and saw that the only escape route was behind the one who was threatening her. She turned to her training, and reached out with the Force and let it trickle through her body. With a burst of speed, she attempted to run past her attacker and avoid the lightsaber at the same time.

The dark figure reached out with the Force, and a field of Dark Energy enveloped Azurine. Her connection to the Force was canceled, and she felt weak. She stumbled as she tried to run past the cloaked figure, who flashed an evil grin. After the cloaked figure stood in a standard Djem So stance, he swung his lightsaber and cut down the afflicted Jedi.

Azurine screamed in pain, and fell to the ground, lifeless.

Main Turbolift Shaft- Observation Platform

Jacin Sky stood watch over the main Turbolift Shaft. After the attack the night prior which destroyed one of the Turbolifts, it was vitally important that the main transport shaft of the Star Destroyer remained undamaged. From the Observation Platform at the top of the shaft, Sky could see and sense anything that would happen. Before his watch was over, too early to be his relief, his control panel alerted him that someone had entered the Main Turbolift and was heading for the Observation Platform.

Jacin could not forget how his senses failed him yesterday, and immediately took cover, in the shadows. He used his knowledge of the Force to conceal his presence as best he possibly could, and waited.


The Turbolift came to a halt, and the doors opened. A cloaked figure stepped out onto the Observation Platform and looked around, as if searching for someone in particular. The sound of mechanical breathing permeated the deck, and Jacin heard the unmistakable sound of a lightsaber being ignited. The sight of the cloaked figure was absolutely chilling.


The figure calmly walked from one side of the Platform to the other, not giving up on his search so easily.









Unknown: "You cannot hide forever, Sky... Give yourself to the Dark Side. It is the only way you can save your friends."


Jacin Sky: ........


Unknown: "Your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for..... Sunrider...."


Jacin Sky: ........


Unknown: "So... you have feelings for Miss Sunrider. Your feelings have now betrayed her too. Now your failure is complete."


Jacin Sky: ........


Unknown: "If you will not give yourself to the Dark Side, then perhaps she will. But Sunrider is weak... killing her will satisfy me in ways you could only begin to comprehend. Even if I cannot find you, I will find her. It is unavoidable.... it is our destiny. Even she knows this by now. She will die by my hands.... and you will be forced to watch."


Jacin Sky: "Never!"



The cloaked figure looked, and heard where the sound was coming from. Immediately, the Dark One switched off his lightsaber and reached out with the Force and tried to crush the elusive Jacin Sky with all of his hatred. A console exploded, and the walls were warped, and the security railing was crushed by the power of the Dark Side. Jacin Sky was able to re-direct the Dark One's thoughts away from him, and he moved quickly out of the path of danger.


Unknown: "Impressive."


Again, the Dark Figure tried to crush Master Sky, and several structural support beams were twisted and destroyed by his power. Some of the overhead support structure collapsed onto the deck, and sparks flew everywhere. But Sky managed to elude him again.


Unknown: "Most Impressive. That power comes from the Dark Side of the Force. Perhaps you would make a powerful ally.... if you would only give yourself to me."


Jacin Sky: "I'll never join you!"


For a third time, the Dark Figure reached out with the Force, and sent a powerful wave of Dark Side power in the direction of Jacin's voice. The superstructure of the Star Destroyer shuddered, as the entire deck above the Observation Platform bent downwards. Power relays blew out, and the entire deck went dark. Gasses began leaking from life support systems and air pressurizers. At this rate, the Dark One could destroy the entire ship within a matter of hours. The Dark Figure cackled with triumphant laughter.


Unknown: "If you will not be turned... THEN YOU WILL BE DESTROYED!!!"


The Dark One lifted a hand and unleashed Force Lightning into the darkness of the Observation Deck. The brilliant lightning cut through the darkness, and revealed that Jacin Sky was not standing there. He reached out with his other hand, and fired in the opposite direction, channeling dark side energy and casting it blindly at his target. Again, there was no one to be found. But the Dark One continued firing, and several more arcs of lightning began to chain off of the deck plating, the support structure, and even the ceiling itself. The energy blew out power converters and magnetized the deck itself. All the computers in the area overloaded and exploded. There was nowhere for Jacin Sky to hide. In the darkness, the Jedi Master stood, and one of the beams of Chain Lightning ripped through his body, and he bore the full brunt of the blast. He reached out with the Force and shielded himself from the pain, and gritted his teeth. Another blast hit him, but still he kept his place in the dark....


Unknown: "I sense great fear in you, Jacin Sky..... I can feel your anger. I can feel your pain.... I know you're here. Show yourself. Do not tremble in the dark. Come and FACE ME!!! COME, AND MEET YOUR DESTINY!!!"


Jacin Sky ignited his green lightsaber, and attempted to ward off some of the dark side energy that was hitting his body.... his skin was being burned, as was his clothing. He needed to keep the arcs of electricity off of him. The sound of the saber being ignited alerted the Dark One to his presence, and he focused both of his beams of Chain Lightning at Jacin Sky, from where he was standing behind one of the support beams. The power of the Dark Side ripped through Sky's body, and as powerful as he was, he could not prevent himself from being damaged by the Chain Lightning. He staggered forward, near death, saber blade burning brightly, with a grim look of determination on his face.


Jacin Sky: "This isn't over... if you strike me down I will only become more powerful."


The Dark One simply laughed and began firing Chain Lightning at the Jedi Master. While Sky was able to deflect most of it with his blade, a torrent of lightning hit him from the side, as it ricocheted off of the support structure. There was no escape. Jacin Sky advanced through the lightning, fighting through the pain, to attack the Dark One. But it was too much, and he dropped to one knee. The Dark One cackled again at the sight of this.


Unknown: "Only now, at the end, do you understand. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the dark side."


The Chain Lightning continued, and Sky began to scream in pain. He clutched the lightsaber in his hands, fighting onward, trying desperately to reach the Dark One. He stopped just a few meters short of his target, and finally collapsed, feigning defeat. The Chain Lightning stopped.


Unknown: "And now, Master Jacin Sky.... you will die."


Jacin rose quickly, and prepared to strike the Dark One down, and at the last moment, the Dark One raised his hands and fired again, blowing the lightsaber out of Jacin's hands, the dark side energy pulsating completely through his defenseless body. The Jedi staggered forward, as the Dark One moved out of his path, and he fell against the security railing, at the edge of the Observation platform.


Unknown: "Nomi Sunrider will be the next to fall...."


The Dark One continued firing, pushing Jacin's mortally wounded body over the edge of the railing, and he fell 50 decks to the bottom of the transport shaft to his death. His eyes burned with triumph, as he watched the Jedi's death.



Unknown: "And your Jedi Order will soon follow."

Nomi Sunrider - Grandmaster of the Jedi Order

Nomi Sunrider called the next meeting of the Jedi Council to order, and recounted the events of the previous night, as recorded in the Security Holograms.


"We lost a great friend and mentor last night, as well as another beloved member of our family, cut down before her prime." began Sunrider.


"I would like to speak more about these honored dead, but we must remain focused. There are still Sith out there and we must bring them to justice. The vision happened again, and it was very clear. I don't wish to say what I learned. My time is short, and I must prepare myself for tonight's proceedings. I am sorry I cannot say any more at this time. But despair not, for many of our young disciples will soon be promoted to full Jedi. We could use the help.

Look on today with a fresh perspective, and let go of the failures of the past. Dwelling on failure focuses the mind on negativity, and that is a path to the Dark Side. Stay strong, and may the Force be with us all."

Suddenly, a figure made out of light appeared before the Council. It was Jedi Master Jacin Sky, back from the Netherworld of the Force. Even though he was not exactly as he once was, the other Jedi welcomed him back, and would count his vote even though he was deceased.

Nomi Sunrider returned from her quarters and found that the Jedi were finished discussing for today.

"Have we reached a verdict?" Nomi asked.

The Jedi took a vote, and it turned out they had decided that one of them was likely to be a Sith.

"Yes we have, your grace." said a Master Jedi.

"Who is the chosen one?" Nomi asked.

"Drafo Tylum, your grace."

The other Jedi stepped away from Drafo Tylum, making a path between Drafo and Nomi.

"Allow him to give his defense." commanded Nomi Sunrider.


Drafo Tylum: "I'm innocent, of course. I told you so, but you wouldn't listen to me. After the past several days, could I really expect anything else?"

Nomi Sunrider: "The Council has judged you to be guilty. Disarm yourself, if you have a weapon."

Drafo Tylum: "Wrong again. I don't have a lightsaber. Can't you tell?"

Nomi Sunrider: "I must admit, our ability to use the Force seems to have diminished. The Dark Side clouds everything."

Drafo Tylum: "Are you sure it is the Dark Side which is responsible for this debacle? You could always just search me. You can't really blame the force for your own mistakes."

Nomi Sunrider: "You seem rather hostile, young one."

Drafo Tylum: "I'm sorry. Am I supposed to take my impending death with gentle good humor? I'm beginning to lose my faith in your leadership, miss Sunrider. Perhaps a change of Grandmaster would be ideal. Maybe then we will actually get somewhere."


Many of the other Jedi gasped at the disrespect shown to the Grandmaster.


Nomi Sunrider: "Worry about that, I would not. Another will very soon have the opportunity to lead the Jedi in a new direction. But for now, we are doing things the way I have instructed you all to do. The wisdom of the Jedi of old, I have.... a close connection to them, I feel. Patience and sacrifice are required to prevail here, but we will prevail. I sense fear spreading among many of you... your faith in the Light Side has been shaken. Living proof, I am; it is not over until it is over. Keep your faith in the Light Side of the Force, and prevail over the Dark Side, you will."

Drafo Tylum: "Not me, your grace. You can speak with soaring rhetoric about hope and change, and your failures will still be apparent. And not one optimistic word you have spoken means anything to me, as my death approaches. You've been fooled by hope, and that foolish optimism will be our undoing."

Nomi Sunrider: "So certain are you, in our defeat? When a man is convinced he is going to fail, then fail he will. Pessimism yields no reward, and is a path to the Dark Side. Now, young one, move into the hangar bay and prepare to rejoin the Force."

Drafo Tylum: "You'll have to drag me there. I'm not going!"

Nomi Sunrider: "So be it, young one. Bring him to the hangar."


Several of the larger and stronger Jedi grabbed Drafo Tylum, and many others ignited their lightsabers. Drafo struggled to break free, but it was no use. He was hauled off and tossed through the airlock, and the hangar bay was sealed. He looked back at the Jedi with a mix of sadness and anger on his face.


Drafo shouted "I told you so" just as Nomi Sunrider threw the switch and dropped the force field. He was blown out into space where he quickly suffocated and died. His body was tractored back in to be examined. The medical droids pronounced him dead, and Nomi reached out with the force and looked for any signs of life. She felt nothing.


Nomi Sunrider: "This one was a Jedi. A troubled, undisciplined Jedi, but he was no Sith. His death was a mistake, and he was right."



Shaking her head, she turned toward the Jedi. "Those of you who are scheduled for the Knighting ceremony, come with me please. Those who are scheduled for training, please come with me. Those of you on Alpha Shift, begin first watch. Beta Shift, it is time for sleep. Tonight I want you to cover the engineering section, the weapons locker, the computer core, and the turbolifts. I will assign some who are trusted to perform security checks elsewhere in the ship. I sense that tonight, some of us will be in great danger. Watch yourselves."


With that, she and many of the other Jedi went to her quarters, and everyone else began their security rounds or turned in for the night.

Stre-don Rett was on his way back to his quarters, when he felt as though he were being followed. Ducking into one of the unoccupied rooms, he attempted to shield his presence from the minds of others. He could sense a figure moving down the hallway, searching for something.

The figure lifted a hand and reached out with the force, attempting to do.... something. But Stre-don Rett's trick mis-directed him.

The figure lifted his other hand and reached deeper into the Force, trying to do something else, but the trick worked again, and nothing happened.

The figure searched several rooms, but finally gave up and left. Stre-don chuckled at this, and exited the room he was in.

Elsewhere on the ship, in the morgue near the medical bay, a cloaked figure began searching for something... or someone.

Unknown: "Hmmm.... remarkably well-preserved. You'll do, for now."

The figure laid hands on the body of the fallen Jax Revus, and reached deep.... deep into the Netherworld of the Force. A tremor was felt by everyone on the ship, indicating a massive disturbance.

The mortal wounds on the corpse were healed immediately, and the body was brought back up to normal temperature.

Then, the cloaked being grabbed the body by the throat, and by the chest, and began concentrating. Energy poured from the being, and soon, Jax Revus' heart began to beat, and electrical activity was restored to the nervous system. The trauma of death was reversed in the brain as well, and Revus began choking and coughing, and tried to sit up, but could not move, as the powerful being gripped him by the throat, and looked into his eyes.

The figure said nothing to Jax Revus, and Jax couldn't quite see who was staring down at him, due to temporary blindness. But he could sense a powerful Force presence. The figure walked out of the morgue and disappeared into the night.

Jax Revus, disoriented, stumbled out of the morgue and tried to make his way down the hall by feeling with his hands. He was cold, and needed clothing... and food. He was incredibly hungry... and he felt weak. But, he was alive.

Ker'ral Fisid was in his quarters, when the door slid open without warning. Standing before him was a cloaked figure, with a neutral expression on their face.

Ker'ral was not expecting any visitors, and was unprepared for a fight. However, he still had one trick up his sleeve.... with a quick motion of his hands, the overhead lighting blew out and his quarters became pitch dark. He quickly ducked behind some of his furniture and masked his force presence.

The cloaked figure, undeterred, stepped into the darkness.

Unknown: "I do not need to see you.... I can still kill you, Ker'ral."

Ker'ral hoped this wasn't so, but remained still and continued to mask his presence.

The cloaked figure summoned powerful energy from the Force, and channeled it through his being. The figure turned and faced Ker'ral's last known location and began screaming.... in a way that would shatter bulkheads. The decibel level was well beyond deafening, it was life-threatening. The impact of the scream caused the furniture in the room to shatter and blow against the wall, taking Ker'ral with it. His body was broken by the sound vibration, and he died before he knew what hit him. There was never any chance of survival.

The cloaked figure examined the body to make sure he was dead, and then left his quarters before anyone could see.

And yet, someone did see a figure leaving, and heard the powerful scream. This person examined the body of Ker'ral, but left the scene in a hurry.

Mace Wyyrlar returned to his quarters, when he was approached by a cloaked figure wielding a purple lightsaber.

"What are you doing here?" asked Wyyrlar, but the cloaked figure didn't respond. The attacker advanced in a standard Djem So stance, preparing to turn Wyyrlar's moves against him. But Wyyrlar did not ignite his lightsaber, if he had one. Instead, Wyyrlar reached deep into the Force, and lifted his hands toward his attacker.

In an instant, the cloaked figure was swept up in a wave of the Force, and went flying down the hallway, landing with a thud against the opposite wall a thousand meters away. He did not get back to his feet for some time.

Mace Wyyrlar simply continued to his quarters.

"Confer on you, the Rank of Jedi Knight, this council does." Nomi Sunrider said, to the figure kneeling before her. "You may be seated."


The next figure approached, and knelt before Nomi Sunrider. "Confer on you, the Rank of...."


Nomi paused.


"We're all in danger. Everyone, leave this room immediately."


Sure enough, the doors of the shuttle bay opened, and a cloaked figure stood facing the newly-promoted Jedi Knights.

Unknown figure: "All that work, for nothing...."


The figure began cackling, and tossed a thermal detonator into the middle of the crowd of Jedi, but Nomi was there to draw it into her hands with the Force. The Jedi Knights had no time to escape, as the doors to the shuttle bay were sealed just as quickly as they had been opened. The thermal detonator had a timer, and there was only three seconds remaining.

Nomi reached deep into the Force for the answer.... she felt the device with the Force, and immediately understood everything about it. She felt the experiences of the Jedi Masters of old flowing through her, and knew precisely how to disarm the device.

One second remained, and Nomi reached out with her mind and disabled the detonator, while keeping the security device from tripping and causing the explosion anyway. She continued the circuit with her mind, and the device was stable for as long as she held it. Then she grasped the explosive casing, and concentrated. In a few seconds, she tore the explosive casing off and removed the volatile materials, and handed them to one of her students. She relaxed her mind, and the circuit became incomplete, and the security device triggered, and tried to detonate the explosive. But nothing happened.

She looked at her students.

"Go. That was not the attack I saw in my vision. You are all still in very grave danger. Disperse, young Jedi."

Nomi Sunrider - Grandmaster of the Jedi Order

Nomi Sunrider called the next meeting of the Jedi Council to order, and recounted the events of the previous night, as recorded in the Security Holograms.


"We were very fortunate last night. Several of our Jedi Knights, and myself, were nearly killed in an attempt on my life. But as I told them, that was not the attack I have foreseen. That is yet to come. I tried to sleep, but the vision came again. My fate truly is unavoidable, as we have failed to stop the Sith in time. They will attack me tonight."

Nomi paused, as the Jedi began to try to think of ways to prevent it from happening.

"Don't. If I do not intervene in the next attack, many of you will die. That is why it cannot be stopped." Nomi stated.

One of the Jedi spoke up anyway.

"What if we all scatter? Won't that stop it?"

Nomi shook her head. "I have duties to perform which are too important and cannot be delayed any longer. Lives depend on it. Regardless of the circumstances, I must go ahead with the ceremony."

"Don't we know for sure that those attending the Knighting ceremony weren't Sith, now?" said another.

Nomi shook her head again. "It could have been an assassin droid made to look like a Sith. Or there could be other explanations; the Dark Side has a way of tricking you into thinking a certain way, do not be fooled. No one here has been made more or less of a suspect than before by that attack. It is best to put it out of your mind entirely, lest the dark side corrupt you."


Then she turned toward the now-clothed Jax Revus.


"Back from the dead, I see. What are your intentions?" asked Nomi Sunrider.

The other Jedi turned and noticed Jax, and were horrified. Wasn't he the Sith Apprentice who died on the first night of their journey?

Jax Revus just grinned. Several of the Jedi ignited their lightsabers, but Jax just stood there, motionless, still grinning, as if he was unafraid.

Jax Revus: "Don't you at least have to vote on something like that?"

Nomi stared at Jax, uncertain of what to do. She also knew she couldn't advise the Jedi one way or the other on this matter. Something in the Force told her to stay her tongue. This was the Council's decision, not hers.


Still, she did not return to her quarters as she usually did. She stood, watching Jax Revus, hand on her lightsaber, prepared for what might happen next.


"It's time to discuss and vote on our next action, my friends. Do as you will." Nomi said, betraying none of her emotions, but keeping her focus directly on Revus.
