    Default Organic Food

Anyone like it? Dislike it? Why should I pay $5.60 for a gallon of organic milk when regular milk costs $1.80?

    All food is organic.
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Taste and quality is the main reason to buy organic as it's generally called, organic milk is creamier and tastier whereas the big dairy companies generally take the best out of the milk to produce ice cream and other dairy products. If you compare a fine grassfed steak to that swill they produce in sheds you would never eat a conventional steak again.

Exactly. I'm not really sure if eating Organic makes you any healthier than non-Organic, and organic usually doesn't have as long a shelf life as non-organic. I usually tend to prefer organic for special dinners and get togethers but shy away from it if I don't plan on using it within a few days.

Health benefits are anecdotal at best there may be some cases where say people with high sensitivity to organo phosphate could be at risk from it's various uses but if the proper procedures were used for withdrawl period it still should be fine.

Buy organic for taste, texture, colour and quality but apparently nutritionally there is little if any differ.

Organic milk is really cheap here, an euro for a liter. That cooked stuff meh it's horrible. I always prefer organic especially with meat, but the difference is hit and miss. I actually prefer non-organic chicken. Steak on the other hand...

I heard something about O.F. extending into having no pesticides, preservatives or something like that, but I'm just speculating.

But I'll have my food full of pesticides and bacteria killers thankyou, if nothing can grow in it then it's fine for me...

With organic food you are not eating antibiotics, pesticides and fertilizers in your food and in US, growth hormones . Most of what i eat is organic.

I don't particularly mind the pesticides and such- I've never been harmed much by it. My issue is that grass-fed cattle are generally much better than corn/grain-fed. Simply put, cows are meant to eat grass, and that's about it. Haven't had a chance to try the milk though.

Organic food is expensive. I have just found some nice things to add to my diet, I don't know if they are organic, but they are good for you. Flax seeds, wheat germ and quinoa. I'm on a health kick!

Well acquainted with the Quinoa and wheat germ... Mrs. Waki has been trying to get me to eat that stuff ever since we moved out to Portland... I think the hippies got to her.

Wheat germ makes a good chicken breading. I mix flax seeds and wheat germ (seperately) in plain yogurt. Doesn't help the taste much though. Quinoa is good, as a rice substitute or such. Mix in some veggies and you are good to go! :)

Then I would say you have never tasted a Real spud or had a properly fresh egg or drank a properly fresh glass of milk etc etc.

Most people who are happy with large scale farming practices don't actually know what the food there eating is supposed to taste like, way I see it more needs to be done in the arena of large scale farming to increase the quality of it's products, far too much consideration is given to profits and too little to the fact were eating this stuff.

The organic milk I get is a little more expensive, but it actually keeps longer than the standard stuff so I think I'm winning in the end on cost. Grass-fed organic beef is much better as well. But I usually don't get other organics, I can't really justify the costs and they just don't seem that much better. Must be something with cows.

I bought bread from a co-op on campus. No sweeteners, no flour added, nothing except raw bread material in a plastic bag. It sucked.

Organic meat is done right, but as far as my experience goes, I want all the preservatives and sweeteners in my bread that they can put in, I like my slices hard as toast after I toast it, not before.

    Oat bran is best.

However, is anyone interested in a truck load of organic Spanish cucumbers?

Does it taste like normal bread? The ingredient list is interesting.

It tastes like a heavy multigrain bread to me. I love sesame seed and I buy the one with sesame seed on the crust. You should find it in the organic foods frozen section. Keep it in the refridgerator to avoid spoilage.
I buy the "Food For Life" brand, but there are others.

Back in the day, when I was into baking, I found a recipie for a vegan cheesecake. Made with tofu. It was rather good when fruit was put on top. I have the recipie still if anyone wants it! I doubt there will be any takers. :P I had it plain once, that is the reason for the last comment.

I'm pretty sure all food is organic. I've never seen milk that didn't come out of some sort of animal. Or meat. Everything comes from the carbon cycle at one point or another.

It's a brand term to demote organic production as opposed to synthetic production methods for example you avoid dipping sheep in organo phospate as much as possible.

It sounds pretty good actually. I try to avoid carb heavy food because it makes me sleepy, and causes my blood sugar to spike which results in weight gain and increased hunger. I'll have to try this.
