Can I be a reserve?
Can I be a reserve?
Okay.
I have a game design thrown together, and it should be interesting. I have no idea how this is going to go, but, I do believe all sides are balanced. It's not a fancy or complicated game, but, it's not just a standard town versus mafia setup.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Okay, that's the setup. Comments? If you guys think this one will be lame, I'll scrap the idea and we'll do a basic vanilla GH-style game.

Awesome. Cult leader please![]()
If God is great, and if God is good, why can't he change the hearts of men?"
-Tom Waits, "The Road to Peace"
That looks fine to me. Give me something cool. :)
Believer says (11:06):
Can I have the 3 last replies as a signature?
ATPG says (11:06):
No.
Believer says (11:06):
Why?
ATPG says (11:06):
not org-appropriate
Believer says (11:07):
Nothing we say is org-appropriate
So the town wins when both cult leaders are destroyed?
Simple enough for me.

Just a preliminary note to say I'll be inactive for the larger part of the weekend (working off GMT time), I can make anything on Friday morning and then Sunday night, but nothing inbetween.
That is all.
Arpeggio: A broken chord. Arpeggiate: Breaking up a chord. ArpeggiateTHIS, scumbag.
Heh. Completely loony-tunes.
But a successful conversion does reveal that? Doesn't make sense with the other rules, but that's what's implied. It will not be known to the converter whether or not conversion was successful.
Failed conversion does not reveal who tried to convert you.
Well someone's gotta know when a conversion is succesful and the converted must know who his boss is, right?...
although that's weird... because if getting converted again he'll know who his boss was ^^ and it'll be pretty easy for him to kill him off
That's what I mean. Both by its not making sense with the other rules, and by the setup being loony-tunes.
No, conversion or failed conversion both do not reveal who the boss is.
The boss can send instructions along with the conversion message, anonymously, through me. After that, they'll have to contact the convert themselves for further instructions, which as the rules imply, is risky.

That actually does allow a successful recruit to identify themselves as having been recruited, if you think about it.
So success or failure of conversion only depends on whether the one to be converted is a convertible towny or not?
Also, just to be clear, the cult bosses will never know if any of their recruitables has been reconverted to the other cult?
Will they get the anonymous conversion message if conversion was not succesful?
And how will the cult bosses know when every recruitable person has been recruited at least once?
Yes, and it also allows an unsuccessful recruit to identify themselves as having been recruited.
Success is automatic if the target is convertible.
True dat. Also, just to be clear, the cult bosses will never know if any of their recruitables has been reconverted to the other cult?
Yes.Will they get the anonymous conversion message if conversion was not succesful?
In other words, Cult Leaders may try to recruit people, but they will never know for sure if they've been converted and are trustworthy.
Because I will know, and I'll tell them. And how will the cult bosses know when every recruitable person has been recruited at least once?

Oh, ok -- the previous comment implied only successful recruits would get the message; now I see.
You can add me as a reserve. I regret not signing up for this.

I really regret not having a game idea already designed for that one. It seems I have actually gone through my massive list of game ideas from like 2 years ago and gotten them all done or scrapped the bad ones at last.
I bet if I had something awesome planned, advertised, and invited people, I could push 50 participants over there.

Looks good, sort of like a mini-CoV III.
(Because the first thing that pops into my head is always how I can selfishly relate things to my own games)
I'm around if you need a replacement. Somehow I think I am not a living player in a single running mafia game right now.
EDIT: Forgot KnightTime. Always forget KnightTime.

Ok, I'll try to launch this one after my closing shift tonight.

In the beginning....
There was a continent surrounded by a nameless sea. The people of this land existed for countless generations, and they were nothing more than a bunch of disorganized tribes constantly warring with one another over territory. The cheese-lovers would be constantly squabbling with the wheat farmers, and the tomato growers would complain that their land would be trampled on by the pig farmers. After several long and bloody wars, the land had been torn apart. None of the tribes could make enough food to feed themselves, so they were forced to rely on trade... and they soon found that the separate foods they all enjoyed actually tasted quite good when mixed together and baked in an oven.
And so, a new religion formed... and it spread throughout the separate tribes.... and they soon formed the Order of the Pizza-Eaters. With their new way of thinking, and their cooperative, egalitarian philosophy, pizza reigned supreme over the land.
Get it?
But something strange is happening in the Crusty Plains. Some of the common folk are insisting that Pizza is an impure food, and that there is a much better food that should be eaten. The Order of the Pizza Eaters has dispatched someone to investigate the heretics and put a stop to them.... but it might already be too late. A rival religion, whose teachings defy the Order, can only mean one thing: a holy war is about to begin.
Who would prevail?
We shall soon find out.
RULES:
- Town (versus) Cult (versus) Cult.
- If the Cult Leaders are destroyed, cultists revert to their original alignment.
- Regular townies can win with either cult.
- Town will have incorruptible members who cannot be converted, their goal is town victory only.
- Cult leaders cannot be corrupted, their alignment will always remain the same.
- Cultists can be re-converted to a different alignment.
- It will not be known to the converter whether or not conversion was successful.
- Failed conversion does not reveal who tried to convert you.
- Every round, someone will be lynched.
- No Lynch is not an option.
- Abstain votes are legal as long as there is at least one person voting to lynch.
- Quoting/copying/pasting your role PM is not allowed.
- Revealing who you are and what your goals are, publicly, or privately, is legal. It may not be wise, but it's legal.
- Cult leaders will be granted cover roles. Mass reveals will not solve the game.
- Alignment will NOT be revealed upon death.
- Dead players cannot vote or perform any actions.
- Dead players may not reveal their alignment or previous actions.
- There may be other roles in the game besides basic townies and cult leaders.
Voting procedure:
Vote: Abstain
is legal when someone else has voted to lynch a player.
Vote: Player
is considered a legal vote.
Unvote.
is considered a legal way to change your vote to an abstain. This will not be counted if everyone else has abstained.
Unvote, vote: Player
is considered a legal way to switch votes.
Endgame:
- When all players who can be converted have been converted at least once, the remaining Cult Leaders can choose to murder instead of converting someone.
- They can convert instead of murdering as well.
- This will continue until all Cult Leaders have been destroyed, or only one Cult remains, with enough votes to win outright.
BEGIN DAY ONE.
You will have 48 hours to discuss the situation, and try to point your finger at one of the heretics among you. After that, I'm going to try to shorten it to 24 hour days and nights.

Okay, lets try to figure out what the team distribution will be.
Obviously there are cult leaders and (per the game rules) at least 2 cults. The rules also mention other roles that aren't townie or cult, so maybe a serial killer or the like. That leaves 14 other people to account for. 14 v 2 v 1 seem kind of long odds for the cult and the serial killer. Unless the cults start with organic members other than the leader which would change the composition to who knows what. For example, are both cults equal or do they get specific talents?
Since cultists revert back to original cult after the (new) cult leader dies, I see a lot of misinformation getting thrown around when a cult leader gets lynched since his alignment won't be revealed but the remaining cult will regain members. I would say the most dangerous time in the game for townies will be if and when a cult leader is knocked off because of the sudden mass shift of members into one cult.
Baby Quit Your Cryin' Put Your Clown Britches On!!!
I think you're assuming too much; cults almost by definition begin with just the leader.
