Not really up to us in EB, afaik it was a bug in rtw, don't think it happens in m2tw though which is nice.
In the meantime you could just not use the exploit, its not like you are forced to.

I would have to disagree, it's always best to do the most effective method there is. While people have many different reasons for playing a TW war game I'm willing to bet that Baktra likes the challenge aspect of it greatly. When you know there's a better way of dealing with a challenge it's hard to ignore it even though it could be something like an exploit.
And then there's players like me that suck at the game but are addicted to impossible factions like Saba so have to rely on exploits just to survive. I actually don't realize that I'm using exploits until I read about them here, I think I'm coming up with cool strategies.
Interestingly enough whenever I do sally battles the enemy army just runs all the way to the back of the battlefield as soon as I press the start button. I never put archers on walls because I can't ever get them to do anything useful. If it's a sally the enemy just runs out of range as soon as the battle starts, If I'm being attacked in a siege my archers don't manage to cause very many casualties or set the towers on fire before they get slaughtered.
In M2, or at least in Stainless Steel which is the mod I play, if you sally then the enemy army instantly retreats way, way out of range of your walls. Of course the problem here is that then the battle becomes just like a regular battle. They run away, form up and give you time to deploy properly and approach them, as if it were a normal field battle.
EBII has finally released. All hail the EBII team!
This is great news! So far it sounds like Medieval II sally battles will be play out better than the RTW sally battles. I’m sorry if it sounded like I was complaining. I just wanted to point out this weird movement choice by the AI that never really gets talked about.
In response to TylerX5, that’s exactly how I feel. It would be a dream if the AI could exploit and outsmart me; turning a simple error I made into a life and death struggle. That would be awesome.
