3 against 3000... That`s the spirit! The Romans do not ask how many, but where they are ;)
Behold the might of the Arche Seleukeia, filthy Romaioi dogs! Mwhahahaha!

Another funny thing, India and that shitty way-off settlement between the Karthaginians and Ptolies belongs to the SPQR...
EDIT: India must be belonging to the Saka Rauka btw, but the desert-settlement still???

Likstrandens ormar som spyr blod och etter, Ni som blint trampar Draugs harg
På knä I Eljudne mottag död mans dom, Mot död och helsvite, ert öde och pinoplats
lol, both are SPQR (my faction) and I have a good explanation for that. I had these two really really
horrible generals with horrible ancillaries - dull/uncharismatic/languorous traits such as flagging, disloyal,
on his deathbed, etc, and ancillaries such as evil step mother.
So I put all my horrible ancillaries from my other generals (pet idiot) into those 2 generals and set them on their way in suicide missions. I landed one in North Africa and I got the other to journey into enemy territory (seleucids), buying crappy mercs here and there as I went along.
Long story short, I auto-calced my way into winning battle after battle and capturing two far flung cities while I was at it....all thanks to two horrible generals that I intended to die.
btw, I have a question. Carthage switched their capital to some random minor town in the center of their empire. Is this normal? How do I get them to switch their capital back to Carthage?
It is, I guess, as placing your capital in the center of your empire helps with population order in distant towns and cities. Appearantly, the AI knows about this. It has happened to me before and no, you can't change it.

Carthage always do that, bloody annoys me. When I use the Romans I keep conquering their cities until they make Carthage their capital again. Then they switch it again a few turns later...
Is playing 354 spartans backed up with 78 Toxotai against 2853 Sauromatae count, these horsemen foolishly charged directly to my spears... (in a bridge battle though... M/M)

@Cute Wolf: That's what I would call good odds :D Elite spearmen versus horsemen, and on a river battle? How can one lose that? ;)
I also had some really absurd battle odds, usually also after previous defeats. But it only rarely happens that 3 guys survive as an army and don't rout and disband on the strat map...
@ Senshi...
But I bet I'll lose if my enemy can think as human does... At least they should peppering me with HA, and use another passage to flank my spartans... And if I play in auto-resolve, a 1:4 odds means that I will certainly lose... the foolish auto resolve does the wonder jobs of pain too... a huge horde of crappy units can defeat small elite army in 80% chance...something that even regular human players can manage to win in medium battle difficulty.
Can I tweak the ai, so they would try to flank with another passage, or at least peppering with horse archers first before deciding to sendtheir suicide squad?

You could use some formation submods, do a search in the forum.
Alltogether, AI Behaviour is hardcoded in RTW, to see realistic behaviour on strat+battle map we will have to wait for EBII.

Yeah, I hope too...
But it will made life a lot harder for the Spearmen corps... No more free experience bonus caused by enemy suicide charges!?! Actually, I exploit these stupid ai behaviours to silver-chevroning my spearmen. I had a nice habit to camp 5-7 spearmen units, coupled with 1-2 missile units on bridge in the campaign map, especially against horsemaster factions... Easily picks the ai who try to attack my men in small chunks of poor horsemen and sometimes archers, but I post these odds because IT WAS EXTREMELY RARE for me to get 3 full stacks of sauromatae attack my spartans head - on... Ohhh... what an evil kings, or stupid generals, the Sauromatae had...

I've installed Sinuhet's AI formations mod and I really don't see a difference.
Maybe I installed it incorrectly? I installed TWFanatic's Phalanx mod and another afterwards and maybe those changed the ai formations?
Came up against three stacks from Epirus after I seiged their capital.
My army was about 8 levy phalanx formations, 5 Thessalian cavalry units, my general, two Agrianes assault infantry units (for the flanks of the phalanx) and the rest was Creten mercenary archers.
The first stack was about half skirmisher cav, half Illyrian hvy inf.
The second was a mixed bag of some mixed phalanx, mixed cav and skirmishers.
The third was half hoplite and half skirmisher....
Luckily for me, they didn't all come at me at once.... They were delayed.
The second was particularly hard as it included some elite phalanx units.
Luckily for me, Phalanx pikes from the front, Agrianes from the sides and Norman-style cav charges from behind turned them to swiss cheese...
The rest was mopped up by the lads from Crete.
Μηδεν εωρακεναι φoβερωτερον και δεινοτερον φαλλαγγος μακεδονικης
The ai formation mod didn't make it (AI Battle Formation MOD, soory for their modders... )... I test on river battle... 1 KH Bodyguard, 5 Hoplitai, without any missile supports, and the 2 Full stack Saka armies (each consist of 8 medium-to-good cataphracts, 8 light horse archers, and 4 cataphracts with bows)...(note: no chevrons or upgrades added)
The Saka commander (the AI!!!) must be quite crazy.... ramming their horsemen against my spearmen directly, and if you want more shocking info, their HA joins the fray directly to their grave....
How to improve the ai?me from their "Stupidity"

There's no real way to improve the AI. It's hardcoded, as was stated before.
There are some minor improvements noticeable by using the addons, as they have an improved AI, but it's still hardcoded.
Best way to manage that problem is simply not to exploit the AI dumbness.
In river battles, let them cross the river from the beginning or withdraw your inital blocking force after some time. In most cases the AI is way too dumb to use alternative routes in river battles.
darn. the worse odds I've got (and I tried that just a few minutes ago) was 3:200, regardless of whether I faced a fullstack or halfstack;
I experimented with a 9-men Syrian Archer army and move_character some of my enemy's armies (mostly halfstacks) into a 9-tiled area, leaving 1 tile for the syrian archers. unfortunately when I tried to attack them, their supposed reinforcements (from the 9-tiled area around them) do not show up (on the pre-battle screen) and the odds are the same (3:200) for whether I attacked a 1500 men fullstack or a 700 men halfstack of similar unit compositions
