Well, after over a year of play and 33 turns I thought it was time to put this out there.
The question is: Should the game end here?
Option 1 would have us continue the game as it currently stands. The political situation (save for Georgia's betrayal) is quite stable, with a broad alliance of Islamic nations and vassals versus the resurgent Eastern Roman Empire. There is currently just one war, between Rome and the Brotherhood, and all the signs indicate it will be a long attritional conflict which could end with either side on top, but will take a very long time to resolve. In the meantime the majority of players in the game have little to do but run their economies and press 'end turn'. I know that some players are bored, and I suspect we will have more problems with missed turn deadlines and players leaving the game as a result.
Option 2 would have us end the game now, leaving the conflict unresolved.
Option 3 is something I've been thinking of for some time - what if we were to bring the Mongol invasion forward and assign a human player to the Mongols, and the rest of the players collaborate to defeat them? The Mongols could be given an objective (hold 20 regions?) and the rest of the players would play as one team to thwart them. The game would end when either the Mongols have reached their objective, or their faction is destroyed.
Option 4 is just in case you don't like any of the other options and have a better idea (please post it!)
So, let me know what you think.
Just so you know, I am happy with any of the three options, whatever you guys decide - I will continue to GM the game and participate as a player.
