The Singulares aren't FM bodyguards, they were originally intended to be for recruitable generals, but the unit was axed from the campaign.

I am pretty sure the unit was already in EB 0.7, when there was no sign of recruitable bodyguards yet.

Bodyguards can't be changed by script (all the other units can have reforms by script). only the vanilla march of time can change body guards. IIRC the EB team didn't want to link the Equites Singularis to the MoT (would absurd indeed) and they can't link them to the reforms in the scripts, so they let them out.
There used to be two Roman bodyguard units. An early one and an Imperial one. The second was forced to be tied to the "March of Time" which usually occured during the Camilian or Polybian Era in the game campaign. Since this was too early for the Imperial bodyguard, the second was disabled. The Romans only have one bodyguard now.
Ok thank you. I probably will just change the Bodyguard myself. having republican Bodyguards for an imperial unit seems strange.![]()
What happened to it? Is it still in EDU/models database, taking up the slot? Or is it in the same position as those Goidilic and that Vasci unit, disabled but not removed? If so, I suppose it is possible to activate, eh? I would like that quite a bit.
Just wondering, are there any other units beside the three categories I mentioned that are disabled?
Just go to the export descr unit and Copy everything except the first line from the Singulares over the Rebuplican Bodyguard.
Just remember to copy your new export descr unit over to the singleplayer backup![]()
The only other one i can think of is the Saka Armoured Nobles which is basically a unit of thier early bodyguards, from what i remember they were used as a stopgap measure until the saka had some real heavy cavalry, ie cataphracts.
Also activating the Singulares again is really simple just find their EDU entry and change the general_unit attribute to general_unit_upgrade this should tie them back to the March Of Time event.

If you're playing as Romani, why would you want cavalry?![]()
