That would just make the player have to control the enemy routs and would add the boring task of chasing the routers after the battle is over. Plus it would make seeing the best results less clear, as math would have to be done
Updated ranking of Battle I:
Thanks for playing! The phalanxes were indeed sitting around - that was the only way I found of not letting the AI ruin the defensive position to make the good and old and boring line formation.Code:Medario 1021 miotas 1019 Titus Magnus 1007 Flavius Camillus 998 mountaingoat 972 Molinaargh 970 Titus Magnus 954 miotas 923 mountaingoat 870 Titus Magnus 859 ziegenpeter 674 Molinaargh 656 Ghaust the Moor 643
There weren't many phalanxes because the idea was to penetrate the foe's phalanx formation, not fight it head on. There are more phalanxes in the next battle.
The next battle is looking good so far. I'd call it done, but I can't win myself as it is, so I need to try harder and maybe make it easier if I don't manage to win after many attempts.
so, another one
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
1. Having lured the enemy cavalry from behind the safe wall of phalanx (i used my light skirmishers to do it), we destroyed them with our phalanx and our own cavalry. Then we concntrated our fire on their general, which made him go nuts. He died and after that the battle was easy - their phalanx units broke their ranks and I took advantage of this moment to move my cavalry behind them without engaging the enemy. They broke down one by one after I engaged them with infatry and charged with cavalry either ofrom the rear or from the flank.
2. My favourite unit from this battle is the heavy cavalry of course
3 .Could you please post the picture of the Princess?
4. Oh and btw played the battle once only and on medium

Ok, I know this doesn't put me in the running, but I can't stand doing file conversions and all the nonsense associated with screenshots, so I went old school and digital cameraed it. I just want to see if these post ok.
Sorry about the huge size. I enjoyed the battle though. Look forward to the next.

The Princess looks eastern...is she perhaps Roxanne's long lost (and far FAR better looking) sister?

ewww... I'm having second thoughts about rescuing that Princess now...
Maybe it would be better to leave her to the Romans, they will make her a Vestal Virgin. Or yet better, they will place her behind their lines in battle - this would prevent their men from routing (something like NKVD units behind the Russian/Soviet lines in the eastern front).
Or maybe it's just propaganda of Roman agents?

Thanks, I hope you play the next one too! It will be released tomorrow.
And post your results next time, even if they're not so good ones
The mystery has been solved! Clearly Roman spies have inflitrated the Makedonian Expeditionary Force and are trying to dissuade our brave men
Current ranking:
Now with only the best score of each player to make it more clear. There is still time, but not much! A little over 24 hours, I believe.Code:Medario 1039 mountaingoat 1020 miotas 1019 Titus Magnus 1007 Flavius Camillus 998 Molinaargh 970 Ankhenaten 921 Yarema 906 ziegenpeter 674 Ghaust the Moor 643
Clearly they are very persuisive; they've managed to convince the King that this is his daughter and has been for some time...
P.S=How the hell do you spell persusive...persuisive...persepolis...persephone...pineapple...

The Makedonians leave the Epeirote shores victorious.
Top 3 of Battle I:
Total Ranking:Code:Medario 1039 mountaingoat 1020 miotas 1019
Code:Medariomountaingoat
miotas
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to everyone who played! I hope to see everyone again in the next battle![]()
Description: It was the warrior Medario who thought of the best way to breach the Epeirote defence, and the Makedonians executed his plan flawlessly. But a new threat appeared on the path of the brave men: barbaroi.
Thrakians? Dacians? Getai? Who cares, they're all barbaroi. And if there is a way for a man to prove his worth, it certainly is by, on a horse, heavily armoured, to stick his long spear in a naked man's chest.

The file was too big this time for me to attach here in the forums. If you know a way around this, let me know.
Alright time to get them!
Edit: I made a lot errors and I underestimated the battle. The result was this:
Maybe I will try again, I can do much better.
The battle is very well done! Quite challenging and good to play.

The AI was quite skillful with cavalry, was there much scripting involved in this battle? Probably less than the first one.
If I did pay a little more attention to my archers that would have been around 100 losses less...
