Get a friend to buy you a router for your birthday maybe.
one of the best rules in life to adhere to, is to never ask a parent for money/property. Save up the money and buy it yourself, that way, the next time your father decides to shove his foot up yourhe can't bludgeon you with the router as well.
good idea, if my birthday was in august or september. but its not. its in february.
i do plan to buy it myself, but id rather stay on his good side. if he found out that i got a router without his permission hed probably take something valuable away from me, even if i did buy it. like my laptop. bear in mind everyone that the router will be connected to my home computer.

You could just try not stealing your neighbour's internet connection. Is this router so you can get a better signal from your neighbour?
And what do you mean you have no choice? Do you have a slow internet connection at home or no internet connection? If it's no internet connection then I can understand how you would need to steal from the neighbour for school, but stealing just to play a game is just downright dirty.

I agree with miotas. A router alone =/= internet.
