The whole point is to keep her on her toes. If her story about being grounded is false, this is essentially what she is doing to you. She wants to know how far you will go to be with her, this will tell her how much control she can exert. At this point, the answer to that should be "Not much". There is a time for her to walk all over you, and that time is after marriage.
