Ohh I have another question. The manual says it costs 200 to convert a hex if you have a army there. how much does it cost to do it without a army?

I am guessing "converting" involves killing lots of people. It was that time period, afterall.

Normally, you can't convert without an army.
There are some leaders with certain ability and controlling certain regions makes it cheaper.

    Yes, you can.

I hope I can post the write-up today. Miscalculated some countries income because not all of you confirmed trade agreement with the others. So, I'm going through all these "financial records" again.

Oh.. by the way.. just to make you wait this upcoming turn.. In July 1618 first battle will be fought..
Who will fight against who will remain secret for now.

    6.Convert Region – Provence
Only if you control certain region you can use this option.
I should have kept this part(that it's possible to convert entire region) a secret, though.

    Yes.

So who has declared war on who? Otherwise, I can't see anyone fighting.

Also, patience is a virtue good things come to those who wait. For me at least this time is spent planning my numerous contingency plans for the upcoming round.

im just asking for future reference and because ibn mentioned that there would be the first battle.

probably some dispute over a hex claimed by two people....... so nothing serious.

I already have the next 3 rounds planed out in advance, in several different ways.

Same, , although for me it is more like 5. (which is ridiculous, and seems to assume nothing else goes on in the world . suffice to say it will be out of date soon). as well as the names of my future generals and the composition of their armies. as well as the cost of the upkeep of said armies and fleets.

Plus a contingency in case a worst case scenario happened this turn.

I haven't got 5 orders in advance since I am in central Europe, and when you are surrounded by Spain, France, Austria, Denmark, Switzerland and Saxony. You can't assume they will not go marching into your lands..

I've got too much money to worry about upkeep

No but seriously, if I didn't have midterms for the past 2 days AND have rehearsal till 7, I would have at least 4 more turns planned out

Yes, you have to declare war in this thread and yes to the second question too.

Sry for making you wait. I'll post the write-up now.
    Will send out PM's too.

so when is this majestic write up coming..... i cant wait.
It's not as "majestic" as I wanted. Had to leave some part out of it out since I realized that could reveal too much what people had done with their kingdoms.

Being better than the worst does not inherently make you good. But being better than the rest lets you brag.

    -Year 1618-
    from January to June
Year started just like any other year before it. The same religious problems, scandals and intrigues. However, careful observer could notice changes in Europe. Keywords to describe those months could be expansion and contraction boom.

In spite the cold weather and constant rain king James I ordered to renew the look of London and Inverness and to build large port in the Faroe Islands for Transatlantic trade. Politically they found themselves in a difficult spot. They had promised to back Saxony on their way to unify the Northern Germany but Dutch armies in the same time had conquered couple of small states there already. This most certainly will make life in that region more interesting.

While the French were quiet the Spanish were busy. They repaired many ports to bring more wealth to Felipe III. However, news from Portugal made him a bit troubled. Duke John IV Braganza had repaired one of the border forts and it seemed that he was planning to go even further. Perhaps he would try to call himself King of Portugal? Feeling threatened, Felipe III sent one of his army towards the Portuguese border.

In Italy, Savoy had got itself into trouble when their ruler Charles Emmanuel I used the name „Turkey“ to describe Ottoman Empire. Sultan Osman II responded to that with his insults. While they were sending curses and insults to each other, the Swiss, in north, were expanding fast. Promising prosperity and protection to smaller Southern German states they tripled their size in six months. They also invaded Milan in order to secure their southern border and received Spanish provinces in Provence, France.

The Swiss were not the only ones who increased their territories, though. Ottomans invaded Wallachia and within few months they had seized the whole country. Muscovy, or Tsardom of Russia, brought Ryazan under it's control and Denmark unified Norway. Even Saxony and Poland-Lithuania gained some new provinces.

While all these events were happening some people in Bohemia were plotting a revolt. In May they started it by throwing two Austrian governors out of window in Prague. Soon the whole region threw off the Habsburg yoke and gathered behind a man called Jan Tabor. He was elected to lead Bohemian army until their future ruler could lead them. Having rather large army under his command, Jan Tabor, moved south to threaten Habsburg homelands. This was a mistake, though. Austrian general Tilly had moved north to stop any Bohemian incursions and on the first days of July a battle will be fought between those two armies...

saxony wants to discuss with the swedes what it will take to own those two hexes on the mainland. We offer anything you may want within our power.

netherlands, you push our limits, you are not even diplomatically cordial and you insist on claiming lands that belong to the saxon people.

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?
