If one trusts this piece, 710 people were killed by suicide bombings in Pakistan last year (a decent fraction of these must surely have been children). The attack today fits the pattern nicely.

Maybe there could be religions that is are inherently flawed by any humanistic standards one could think of? There are two, the islam and the leftist church. You are probably right, but this is extremily vicious. Supposedly they had to watch the teachers in a most gruesome way before they got killed themselve. Breivik was just one man but these were several who agreed on doing this, how sick can you be if several persons agree to do this. A bomb is indiscrimative, wrong place at the wrong time, but the ugliness of this is pretty damn scary. I got this sick feeling in my stomach that I also had at the massacre in Norway, it's way off, pure evil.

It's a step up from intentionally killing civilians; including children rather than specifically targeting them; but this is also still the top story in many news media, so I don't see much inconsistency.

It is in a country where you can be executed for blasphemy and no evidence need to be presented. In fact they cannot present evidence as that would also be an act of blasphemy. That puts it at least two hundred years behind the west in development.

Add to it attacks on vaccine workers and it the list keeps going on and on.

Presumably these children were "enemies" because their parents were mostly soldiers.

Some cultures are more into doing psychotic things than others these days... So when psychotic things happens there, people hardly raise an eyebrow.

Other cultures don't share this problem, and thus an incident there will make people of similar cultures react more, as it feels more close to home.

It's just how it is, we care more about those closer to ourselves, like it or not. I am sure the Pakistan thingy is WAY big in surrounding countries media and forum discussions... Few of those however frequent here (unfortunately).

The slaughter of children has a rich history and figures in both myth and the Bible. That said, I haven't found any examples where this was done programmatically as a terror tactic. The more common motivations seem to be removal of potential rival/threats (e.g. Herod's Slaughter of the Innocents; The eradication of the Amlekites; the eradication of all of the siblings of a ruler's heir upon her/his death) since a dead child cannot grow up to seek vengeance. Lots of stories (Oedipus; Perseus; Jesus' flight to Egypt; The Man in the Iron Mask, etc) depict when this strategy backfires.

The only "terror" example I can think of was that of the Last Plague upon Egypt in Exodus. Even there, however, it was "first born" and not children per se.

God in the time of Moses wiped out all the first born sons.

Solomon the Wise(guy) wiped out his brothers to get the throne.

History is full of males and children being wiped out and the woman taken as sex slaves.

I was asking a genuine and relevant question. As usual, in your blind hatred of Christianity you have completely missed the nuance in my question. Believe it or not I am fully aware of massacres of children throughout history including in the Bible. My question was regarding "singling out children for slaughter as a terror tactic".
