Is it possible to defeat the entire map?

The game automatically finished when I defeated the required 50 provinces, but I was hoping to continue playing and defeat all provinces. Is this possible?

Just don't take Rome. But the game does tend to get really boring and easy.

Quicksave (Ctrl-S) during the end video, then load and play on.
