Thread: Taking skin requests (for practice purposes)

Default Taking skin requests (for practice purposes)

I'm in the middle of a WWI mod project and I need some practice with skinning (otherwise my coding talents are useless until a hell of a lot later on)

So, if you want a skin doing, just describe it to me and I'll do my best. I'm actually quite good at skinning and it appears I have a nack for it, but I need practice in getting really detailed textures done. So the more you request the more you help me. I'll post your new skin as an attachment along with a screenshot so you can see how you like it. I'll probably have it done in a couple of days so fire away.

    thanks in advance

how about something like this for the greek and Macedon factions http://sierratoysoldiers.com/catalog...xe_3008609.htm

also for the same Factions how about a very strong beserker type swordsmen and greek and Macedon legions. and a stronger greek cavalry and greek chariot.

perhaps with the beserker type they could throw javelins like the legions and be covered in mud from head to toe with crazy face paint.

Whoa, erm... ok. I'll do it. Be done in a day or two. (the crusader may take longer)

Just to mention that, as this is not a mod in development per se, I think that the General forum would be a better place for this kind of offer rather than the Forge.

A word of advice The_Ferret, there's a tendency for these kind of threads to be inundated with requests which overwhelm the person making the offer so very little is completed and lots of people get disappointed.

I would suggest that you make it very clear exactly what is and what is not possible (eg, what kind of requests would require modelling etc.), exactly which request you're working on, an estimated time of completion and what other requests you've accepted and the order in which you'll be doing them - just so everyone knows what's going on. And don't be afraid to turn someone down if they ask for something beyond your capabilities or you don't have the time. It'll be a lot better if they know straight away rather than being left waiting.

It might also be a good idea to post a picture of a skin that you've already done so people get an idea of the sort of thing you're offering.

Good luck - and all help is appreciated for the WYSIWYG Graphic Correction Pack, which looks to make minor modifications to existing skins in order to bring them into line with their stats.

    Seems like you're going well
Here's a list of the extant skins that are planned to be redone for the WYSIWYG pack - minor changes really, nothing that should take more than an hour or so.

If you could have a crack at some of them it would be a big help, let me know if there are any you fancy and we can talk about the changes.

    Briton/Dacian/Gaul/Rebel warbands
    German spear warband
    Briton/Gaul Swordsmen
    Dacian/Thracian Falxmen
    Night Raiders
    Dacian/Gaul/German/Scythian/Rebel/Mercenary barbarian cavalry
    Dacian/Gaul/German/Scythian/Rebel early barbarian warlord
    Numidian /Armenian legionaries
    Parthian/Armenian horse archers
    Light Lancers
    Barbarian rebel general
    Judean Zealots
    Mercenary Eastern Infantry
    Thracian bodyguard
