Default Roman Civil War (Based loosely on RTW)

Senator Julius Lucinii had always enjoyed living around Rome. A healthy flow of slaves for his villa or his pleasure. A nearness to Rome, his beloved home, the center or the civilized world. Not in Gaul, where that upstart bastard Marcus Gallus had crushed the Gauls, and sent the rewards. He, he had marched into Spain, and taken the rebels there. However, those days were long ago, his armor in the armory, polished, but never used.
Julius was like a border legionnaire. Tough, clean shaven, and tall for a Roman. He was said to have despicable Gaul blood in his veins. That was the bane of all Lucinii. They were all said to be of Gaulish decent. Damn mother of a Gaulish chieftain.
Julius Lucinii had been the older of the trio of brothers Lucinii. Aulus Lucinii, his older brother had marched to Greece to gain the fortunes of Macedon. He succeeded, but he had been stabbed in the back by his second in command, Gaius Faustus. He now lived near the lavish city of Rome, in his brothers villa, a senator as well.
Marinus Lucinii, his younger brother was also a senator, commander of Capua, and head of the VII, VIII, and IX legions. His career was assured by his adoration from father.
Watching from his villa, he still held contacts with his old legion commanders. In his day Julius could have called four legions to his command. Now, they were sitting about, to be called to some barbaric theater. Rome had a plethora of legions, and no where to conquer. The barbaric Thracians, they had stopped the legions outside some city called Byzantium. The Pontus, and the Ptolemy had broken the backs of three armies sent to the mountains and deserts. Rome was content to sit, moving men to the weak Gauls, and the mythical Britania.
Clattering up a path, a horseman, tanned from years of sun, rode to the gate of his villa. Talking to the guard, the gate swung open and the rider trotted inside.
"Senator, senator, there has been an outrage, by the gods... Senator!" his voice cried upwards, pleaing to be heard.
"What, what bad news have your brought me today" Julius was on the second story, barely visible.
"Senator, the great general Marcus Gallus has marched over the boundries of Rome! He is marching to Rome itself!"
"Why should it be my concern!"
"Because, sir, the general calls himself chosen by Jupiter to call Roman legions to Pontus, and Thracians, and the Ptolemies!"

Julius knew the implications. Only a dictator could call the legions to a palce. The Senate made decress saying where legions would be moved. Marcus Gallus had declared himself a dictator. However, it was a brilliant move.
The people ached to have the Senate move men to avenge the Thracian wars, and the Roman defeats agains the Pontus, and the Egyptians. Marcus had secured Gaul, and was in charge of ten legions, and the famed Thousand Legion. The Legion was made up of the remaints of the Gaulish Wars, a veteran group that would not be disbanded until the war was finished. It was the core of the Roman army in any war.
Going downstairs, he opened the armory doors. Striding to the very back, he picked up his armor, golden bronze. His helment with the small holder for the plume of purple horsehair. He was going to defend Rome!

    Re: Pursuit of happiness
    Have you just been dumped?

I ask because it's usually something like that which causes outbursts like this, needless to say I dissagree completely.
