Lightbulb Story contest - Cast your vote!

It's a bit later than intended, but here it finally is: the poll. For those of you who haven't seen the submissions yet, you can read them here. For details on the organization of this contest, look here. This poll will run until Monday the 14th of August, five AM, GMT.

    Cast your vote!

Edit: important announcement: this poll will be closed around five AM and not twelve AM. My apologies for the late notification; I find myself rather short of time monday evening.

Eclectic leads the pack. No surprise, his story, although morbid, is excellent.

I can't agree with you there, though, of course, that's what the poll is for :)

I thought that his story (as with many others) was too descriptive and verbose, but most likely that's just me; i've always hated that particular style of writing...

I think it's better not to vote for yourself if you're honest about it. I didn't.

Perhaps I should've done, then I might have some votes!

Anyway, yeah voting for oneself isn't a very good move to do. And also, Great Stories everyone! Good luck to all!

Junior members can vote I guess. Didn't try actually, but then again I prefer "the people" to decide which story has to win.

In my opinion, it just doesn't feel right being participant ánd judge...

It's just a matter of principle. I won't vote and I won't comment on the stories of other participants, because I consider that judging or at least trying to affect the jury's opinion.

Let them decide, without influence of the participants.

    Just my humble opinion...

Hmm, I disagree with this. He has some skill with words, but his story is over-written to the point of being almost impenetrable.

Personally I think all competitions and awards involving submisisons would do well to follow the policy of not publishing the name of the candidate with the submitted work. Something to think about next time perhaps?

There is something in what you say. I admit I didn't think about that, and added the names because in previous contests it was always clear who wrote the stories. Something to think about, indeed.

I'm not voting either, or making comments on the work of others. However, it would be nice if there was a feedback thread for writers for others (about their writing and not the contest); at least every author would then receive something back for his effort regardless of whether he won or not. Just a thought.

Haha nobody liked my story, my only vote was casted by myself... against some principle perhaps, but I think that story needed a sympathy vote .

You've got a very good point there. But feedback and helpfull hints or tips are still usefull after the voting. I guess the stories won't get deleted of the forums after the contest is done?

Feedback and comments are still possible afterwards.

heh, sympathy votes obey different principles.

honestly, i don't believe in the "not voting for oneself" paradigm. if you honestly feel your story is the best, go for it, i say. in general, though, in a friendly contest like this, where nothing dire is at stake, i probably wouldn't vote at all since the poll is visible.
