    Default Civ City: Rome

I recently ordered Civ City: Rome, a magnificent city builder very similar to Ceasar. It's made by 2K Games with Firefly and Firaxis Studios.

    Anyone like it?

That looks interesting, I'll read a few reviews before buying though.

    EDIT: Gamespy review below.

Three and a half stars. I might buy it after all. On the other hand, I might wait for a Ceasar IV.

    First impressions.

    - AoE & Civilisation style game - huge time eater
    - RTS City Builder
    - excellent graphics
    - Roman Civilopedia(Roman historical day to day life)
    - good for losing some hours
    - boring at the start, once you develop the city, you'll play it with the days...

I picked up a copy (£16.99 online!) to test my new video card (AGP geforce 9600GT). Ironically the game seems to hate my drivers; I get black splodges appearing and disappearing on the screen. Because it's a very new card there aren't many drivers to choose from as yet. Oh well.

I've played through to what I believe is the end of the tutorial section; I can now choose between a peaceful and a military mission. Also done a bit of tinkering in sandbox mode. So far it's fun, different to the other city builders. Seems like a bit of a Children of the Nile situation caught the game when it was first out; people expected it to be like the old Impressions games and then couldn't get on with the fact it isn't. The research looks like it will be nice; a good possibility to tailor your city to your preferences. However some techs are definitely far better than others.

It is buggy though, and if not for that new card and the low price I'd have waited for the patch. My preferred resolution is unusable because the mouse cursor is offset, meaning you don't actually click where you aim. I've had houses refuse to upgrade because the resident won't go and pick up the necessary goods, even though they are in range.
Frogbeastegg's Guide to Total War: Shogun II. Please note that the guide is not up-to-date for the latest patch.

True, there are some annoying bugs, which are related to the people.
