Thread: VI year changing.

  1. #1

    Default VI year changing.

    I didn't know where to post this exactly so I'll just post it here.

    I'm in a good game at the moment with the Vikings in the VI expansion pack and the game is telling me I only have 20 years left when I want more time to play about.

    How do I make it so I got an extra 500 years or so?

    Cheers.

    Hey vixtro!

    I'm no modder, but if you check out the Repository and the Alchemist lab, you should find the answer there. They cover a whole host of modding questions, and are a good source of information!

    Hi

    Changing ste starting ending date is very simple. Just go to your MTW folder. In campmap/startpos section open the file of the period you want to change.

    Find lines (for viking.txt):

    SetStartDate:: 793
    SetPeriod:: EARLY
    SetEarlyPeriodStartDate:: 793
    SetHighPeriodStartDate:: 1205
    SetLatePeriodStartDate:: 1321

    // And the games End date..
    SetGameEndDate:: 1066

    Simply change the bolded numbers to start earlier/play to later dates.

    knight templar's fix will work, but only for new campaigns.

    there is a fix for campaigns in progress, probably over where martok led you. i will poke around later and see if i can find it.

    I saw this here and over in the Alchemist lab. Thanks for it but when I set the game end date later I skipped on to see if it would work but the game still ended

    ok, i found it.

    To play past 1453 in your current campaign for which you have a saved game, you will need this to patch the save-file:

    http://www.3ddownloads.com/totalwar/..._limit_fix.zip

    This will set the game current date in your campaign to 1454. Since it makes kings and generals older too it would be best to use it on a game saved in 1453, so they only age by 1 year.

    Thanks for that but it only seems to work for the Early,High and Late eras you get with MTW but not The Viking era which I'm doing at the moment.
