Default CoR - King's of Parthia write-up thread

    Prologue

    Phraaspa
    Winter of 270 B.C.

Arsaces, King of Parthia, marches west across the desert from his capitol at Arsakia to subdue the rebel tribes in Phraaspa. At his back marches an army of 477 Parthian soldiers: including his personal bodyguard of 46 of some of the heaviest cavalry the world has ever known. Also accompanying him is 108 fully armoured Cataphract cavalrymen, 160 Parthian slingers, and 162 of Parthia’s famous horse archers – the men that make us feared all across the world.
As the sun reached its zenith, the small, un-walled, town of Phraaspa came into view. These worthless peasants would no longer defy the might of Parthia. Their pathetic rabble of 321 men have assembled in the town square, awaiting their demise. What courage they had abandoned them as the mighty Parthian army came into view. Their 240 Eastern infantry, and 81 archers, like many small grains of sand would be swept away by the unstoppable tidal wave of Parthian cavalry.

Arsaces has his cataphracts form a double wedge in front of his bodyguard. The cataphracts will form the razor blade of the axe, that will slice through the enemies formations, while his own bodyguards momentum will drive them through and smash the enemy. Stationed in front are 160 of the finest slingers, positioned for quick skirmishing, and to the right, on the Northern most side of the town, are the 162 horse archers, ready to pepper the enemies exposed flanks through the open streets.

The cavalry archers opened fire into the enemies flanks, making them turn around, as their vulnerable right flanks became exposed to the deadly barrage of stones from the slingers.

The slobbering enemy general orders his 80 pathetic archers forward to fire into our slingers, who cut their ranks down in seconds. When the un-armoured, shieldless archers finally fall back, the peasant commander leads his 120 Eastern Infantry forward to engage our slingers.

Our slingers fall back, around the perimeter of the town, and our brainless foe pursue as Arsaces charges down the hill into their unguarded right flank, and smash them. The fool commanding the peasant rabble is ridden down beneath our cavalry’s feet, and now is mourning with his muling ancestors in the afterlife.

As what was left of the enemy flees back to the town center, our reformed cavalry pursue them and smash what is left of their archers. As the enemy (who has now lost the will to put forward even the pathetic fight they had formerly) is being slaughtered by our great king and his cataphracts, our horse archers ride in from the rear, cutting of all retreat and dispatching what was left of the spineless vermin.

When the last of rabble had been destroyed, Arsaces the Brave ordered the dead to be counted and have all friendly casualties reported.

Of the 477 men he had set out with, 435 still remained; his own bodyguard not sustaining a single casualty.

All have fallen before us! Hail the King of Parthia!!

As I have been kept very busy by real life, I will not be able to finish the write-up I had intended.
We are now at war with the Seluecids and have conquered Armania. The Scythians have taken back all territory taken from them. The Seluecids are at our gates - in short: were really in trouble.
