A little tale from my quite disatrous campiagn. I have some screens, but I don´t know have to handle that pesky TGA format.
It was an hot summer day in the year of 1080. The then 40 year old king Alfonso of Castille and Leon, were looking around him and made plans to expand. Zaragoza and Valencia layed open with no major power to support them. And with the right timing, Portugal could easily be stuck in one blow. Alfonso, his son and his general all agreed to that Zaragoza and Valencia should be captured first, and it was decided that Alfonso and his son should rally together outside Zaragoza and attack it while the general Vaasco would attack Valencia. As Vaasco were pretty close to Valencia, he could soon lay siege to it. A couple of months of siege later he attacked. At his side he had around 1100 men, which of 600 were infantry, 450 crossbows ´n archers, and the last 50 Vaasco with bodyguards. Vaasco started the assault by sending forward his two Spear Militia units with two rams to break the gate. they were very quickly decimated by the Laserthrowers on the walls (AKA Javelinthrowers) but managed to get one ram to the gate while watching the other burn. The succeded to break the gate with about 90% casualties. Vaasco then sent forward his two Mercenary Spearmen to attack an go up the wall, but they were intercepted by The Cid and and his Town Militia. They also quickly took heavy casualties with lasers raining down from the sky and the Uber Highness killing his way through. They spearmen withdrew with about 60% left to draw The Cid out on the field to Vaasco. They then turned and attack again with the help of Vaasco coming from the side. Unfortunatly The Cid used his Jedi powers to bash the poor spaniards. A cry of frustration was heard from the sky before the Missile troops were commanded to fire into the chump of human waste to kill The Cid. They did so, and volley after volley killed men on both sides. Vaasco, with his bodyguard annihalilated, bravely ran away from the battlefield to protect the rear. But then The Cid was hit and fell the ground, dead before he even hit the ground. The troops celebrated, but quickly turned away screaming in terror as The Cid special reserve consisting of Mailed Knight were about to stream out of the castle.
End Result:
~800 Spaniards killed
~150-200 Valenicans soldiers killed
Crushing Defeat
xD
Vaasco and his remaining troops of about 300-350 Missiles, 30 infantry fled north to meet up with Alfonso and his son, who at this time were busy assaulting Zaragoza. As the year went to 1083 and Zaragoza was captured, Alfonso turned his gaze south to the defeated general Vaasco the Rearguardian. He took every man he could and marsched to meet him up and renew the assault on Valencia. The eventually met up and after several arguments they went south, with the intention of burning the Feudal city to the ground and kill it´s population for the deeds they commited. They soon reached it and the siege begun again. Two rams and one siege tower. They sieged for the following months until Alfonso decided to attack a day with heavy rain and thunder. You could think that this would disable the firearrows from burning the siege equipment, how wrong you could be. The poor infantry who were forced to pull in the siege rams and tower under laserfire in the first wave, were trembling. People were taking their goodbyes and asking the priests to write them letters home to their village. Alfonso then grew impatient and ordered them forward. A few fire arrows were flying out from the towers, and laser were falling down on the poor infantry as they closed in. Firstly one ram were burnt by the molotov arrows, then the siege tower and lastly the other ram. The remaining infantry ran back in terror as the Laserthrowers were taunting them from the wall.
End Result:
~100 Spaniards killed
~5 Valencians soldiers killed
Close Defeat
Alfonso were boiling inside by anger and it was literly smoke coming out his ears. These pesky Valencians were gonna BURN! BURN! Every man above the age of eleven were gonna pay with his life! As the siege continued for a couple of more months and the thirs assault were prepared, Alfonso was gonna try a new tactic called Auto Resolve. It had not been put into action yet, but Alfonso were certain it would work. And then the Valencians were gonna BURN! BURN!
An evil smirk appeared on his face as he prepared the last details.
The plan worked, and the Valencians as well Valencia was burning.
End Result:
~150 Spaniards killed
~300 Valencian solders killed
Clear Victory
Alfonso were in a very good mood this celebrating evening and he told his son and Vaasco about what his was gonna do next, attack Portugal. In a quick stroke Pamplona and Lissabon were gonna fall. He also told of a secret and expensive Cavalry army being raised in Toledo and placed at the Portugiean border. Consisting of 5 Jinetes and 4 Mailed Knights, it would easily overrun Lissabon.
The evening continued with drinks and laughter as the soldiers sacked the city. But a couple of hours after Alfonso spoke of his plans, a messenger appeared, with the message that the Cavalry army under Captain Jacobo had rebelled.
And that´s what I have played yet. Don´t flame me for weird sentances as I am a Swede, and please don´t flame for the disatrous battles xD. I usually play pretty good.
