Thread: Can I tell (in advance) which troops will be available with each government?

Default Can I tell (in advance) which troops will be available with each government?

I'm playing my first EB campaign, as Pontus. I've conquered a few places quickly, one of which is Ani-Kamah up in the mountains. I fought a few horse archers taking the place, then some more tried to take it back off me, and I could build foot archers immediately when I moved in. So I figure I might be able to build HAs here, and they would be a big plus for the Pontic military (especially against Seleucids).

But how do I tell which sort of government will eventually allow which troops? Not just a general "3 ad 4 give more local", actual specific units. There doesn't seem to be any way to work it out from the building browser.

Sadly the recruitment is too complex to be guessed at from the EDB. You can check it out though another way. First save your game. Then use cheats give you cash and build type 4 gov and the highest level Reagional MIC available. Check you recruitment options. Once you know what you can build load your savegame and continue where you left off.

There should be atleast a money cheat and one that completes any constructed building on the same turn. Sadly I can't remember either but googling RTW cheats should get you them.

Type 4 gov gives you the best reagionals. If you want to find out how many units you'll miss by building a level 3 gov. just demolish the previous type 4 government buiding and the factional MIC and build a type 3 and upgrade the factional MIC to it's maximum under the type 3 gov.

    Those are add_money <amount> and process_cq <settlement>.

Yes, and just to note: the settlement name is case sensitive, i.e. you must write Roma, not roma, Swebotraustastamnoz, not swebotraustastamnoz etc. I didn't know this and was beating the computer (in my mind - I would never beat my woman in real life!) because it wouldn't work.

    Thank you folks.

A modest suggestion... Are the EB game files generated by code, by any chance? I know a lot of mod teams build them in excel etc. In that case, would it be possible one day to have it generate user docs as well as game files?

Anyhow at first glance I'm thinking type 1 when it's available or 3 when it isn't, for Pontos...

The console codes worked well enough, but there's one problem... I just conquered Gáwjám~Bástárnõz, and I don't know how to type those accented characters on my (British) keyboard outside Word for Windows. I tried pasting them, but no joy.

Can anybody help? I feel a bit pathetic...

    Thanks.

Rats, it's the normal Getae unit list. I was hoping for some uber-falxmen in the home of the famous Basternae. That'll put a dent in the AAR.

It would be really nice if they released this information as I have sat there and gone through all 4 governments sometimes and costs me several turns and money of 0 production just to play a guessing game :P

One day You will get what its called Recruitment Viewer.
Soon it will go through major overhaul so You will have to wait quite some time. But after release it will answer most of Your questions.
