Default A forest of frameas - A Sweboz AAR

This is my first try making an AAR, but I hope I've done well. Please give me feedback on what you like and what you don't like. More is to come (I could've done more already, but I've been without EB (or a computer worthy it's name at all) for more than a month, so give me a break! ).

    Chapter 1: Uniting the Tribes

Part 1: The siege of Gáwjám-Rugoz

It's spring in 272 BC, and Heruwulfáz, the Sweboz Kuningáz, is in deep thought. -"Yes, it's time. The world is changing, and new winds are blowing. It whispers of riches and plunder in Gaul to the west, that is now weakened and torned apart by a civil war. While the Aedui and Arverni take care of eachothers' soldiers, we should take care of their treasure! But first we must unite. If we wish to hold any chance of having more than a few successful raids we must first grow stronger, and we must do so by becoming one. It is time for us to unite!"

So he had said to himself, because he was a smart man, opportunistic to a fault, and he cared for his people. But he, like his people, was poor. He could not support a cavalry arm, so he disbanded them and sent his whole army to take Gáwjám-Rugoz to the north-east, while he himself stayed home to govern Swebotráustástámnoz; focusing on the infrastructure, and preparing to go into debt. Recognizing Rome as a rising power to the south, he also sent a diplomat their way to start a trading relationship with them, aswell as others.

His army was to be led by his heir, the Thêudánáz Ansuhárjáz, supported by his brothers Hrábnáz and Atháwulfáz, 240 Bugimánnoz and 1407 Frámêhárjoz. He quickly sent word to each of them to meat up and lay siege to Gáwjám-Rugoz as soon as possible. As Ansuhárjáz and Atháwulfáz were close to eachother, they joined up half-way in spring and reached their destination in the summer. Hrábnáz, who had been further away south when hearing the new orders, could not join the siege until winter the same year.

    The happy family.

Not long after, the garrison made up of 149 Sáhsnotoz, 372 Frámêhárjoz, 185 Swáinoz and 111 Bugimannoz, led by Hárkiláz and his 110 Ridohárjoz-bodyguards sallied forth. It was a desperate last stand.

    The Battle of Gáwjám-Rugoz

Without proper time to deploy his troops, Ansuhárjáz quickly orders his frámêhárjoz to form a shield wall in front of the archers, who are already firing at the enemy. He and his brothers will make up the right wing, that is intended to flank the enemy as they approach.

The Frámêhárjoz just manage to get into position as the enemy charges. There are some holes, but it should hold.

With neither fear nor hesitation Ansuhárjáz quickly charge the unprotected enemy Bugimánnoz.

But Hárkiláz is not a fool, or at least not a big one. He has ridden up on Ansuhárjáz's flank, taking advantage of Ansuhárjoz's preoccupation with the bugimánnoz and begin peppering them in the back with thrown frameas. Luckily the archers, though fair light infantry, can't stand against heavy infantry, especially not when they've already lost men through siege attrition and arrowfire. They rout. Now Ansuhárjoz quickly turns and charges Hárkiláz, while his own bugimánnoz along with Hrábnáz and Atháwulfáz charge their rear.

When Hárkiláz and his body guards are slain, their line broken and their returning soldiers are charged by Ansuhárjáz and his men, it turns into a full scale rout. Victory!

Did you expand the size of your screenshots, because your screenshots appear really pixelated....

Besides that, great start! 'Bout time the Sweboz got an AAR around here!

No, I didn't, and they look fine to me. If more are having the same problem, I'll have to look into it, but you'll have to pardon me for hoping the problem is on your computer.

    BTW, thanks!

They are png format so they load like bmp and gradually gain clarity as they load. They are quite big though.

Good to see a Sweboz AAR!

Yep, I agree with the others. Sweboz are a nice faction, a few roleplaying possibilities, and they need an AAR.

Nice update, good start, just keep it up!

Say, do you have any house rules, or just go the way you want?

So would you advice reducing the size of them, or is it fine as it is?

I do have house rules, though I forgot to mention them here. Will edit them in - they're in the poll thread.

    Edit: Here they are:

    - Always use general camera, and nothing else
    - Never be the first to offer cease fire (accepting is fine) to a faction I start out at war with. Never under any circumstances ally with them.
    - Only armies led by a general can be controlled by me - captain led armies can only fight through ai (either ai controlled reinforcements or auto-calculated).
    - Generals leading reinforcements are for the ai to control
    - If the general dies, all units come under ai control (unless there's another general in the same army)
    - A maximum of 2 slinger units in each army
    - Strict role-playing is, of course, a must
    - Governments always get the first priority
    - Armies will be kept "somewhat separate" to represent the highly tribal state

Have faith and don't despair, because an update is on the way!
