Summer poetry contest organization

The very first poetry contest in Mead Hall
Starts on 28 July and is open to all.

A heroic poem is a great work of art!
So this is the chance for you to take part.

Siegfried, Beowulf, Paul Revere and the rest
See if your tale will be among the very best.

Drama, romance, or a simple AAR
All topics are open to those near and far.

You can rap or hip hop, if that is your choice
But you must contribute to be one of the boyz.

Even the heroes rhymed in “The Princess Bride”
So don’t be a Vizzini and stand by the side.

Rhyming is most certainly not a hex.
Did I mention that poets have really great sex?

This year's Summer Mead Hall contest takes the form of a poetry contest. There is no theme, so anything goes. The submission period will run from Saturday 28 July, 1200 GMT to Saturday 4 August, 1200 GMT. Submission will be anonymously, by PMing me. The winner will receive a forum badge to celebrate his achievement.

So, to recap:

1) The contest has no theme. However, the poem does have to comply to the .Org rules (and not the more lenient Mead Hall ones) regarding contents and language.
2) Submission period will start Saturday 28 July at 1200 GMT and end Saturday 4 August at 1200 GMT. Submissions will be anonymously through PM to Ludens. All submissions will be posted in this thread.
3) The winning entry will be chosen in a public poll in the Mead Hall. The poll will run for 7 days after end of the submission period. The lucky winner will receive a forum badge.

Regarding the anonimity: the name of the winner will obviously be revealed, but unles the author specifies otherwise all other entries will remain anonymous. If you do want your authorship revealed after the poll is closed, PM me.

The results currently are a tie between two poems. If this is still the case when the poll is closed, I will open another poll with just these two contenders. This poll will remain open for 3 days. If there is no winner by then, both writers will receive the prize.
