If you know how to do it, Cavalry Archers can harass the enemy into oblivion.
Even if you don't have the knack of it, you may enjoy the versatility of the unit: they can still fulfill the main duties of cavalry (running down archers and routers) almost as well as Yari Cavalry. And if there's nothing else to do, they can still make themselves useful by losing a few arrows.
Be aware, though, that they're slightly inferior to foot archers in terms of range and accuracy while requiring almost two times as much space on the hilltop, so they cannot replace archers in a defensive battle. In a ranged duel, they'll be totally outclassed as their horses are big targets.
