View Full Version : Battle Odds balancing

I've read in several topics that it is possible to balance battle odds (the one's that show on the engagement screen and determine the extent of victory) by using stat_health's mount health value, as it is not used for anything besides elephants in M2TW.

However, after testing a few cases, this does not seem to work. Peasants with 1, 0 or 1, 6 or 1, 10 still have 1:5 odds against Spear Militia (modded unit values, but you get the point) for instance and Mercenary Pavise Crossbowmen similarly have 1:1 odds against my DFK.

Anyone know of another way of influencing battle odds without changing unit performance in a manually fought battle at all?

stat_health is used for units and mounts (in that order). '1, 0' means the unit has 1 HP and their mount has 0 HP (no mount), while '1, 10' would give the mount 10HP. '10,0' would give a units 10 HP.

I know that.

What was in the thread over at twcenter however suggested that since stat_health's second value was unused except for elephants (it does not apply to horses and camels), it could (and supposedly was) used for balancing battle odds. However, it doesn't seem to work and I am wondering if anyone here had come across a way to do it, this way, or another.

Did you try what happens if you actually give a mounted unit more hp? Does it change the calculation then? And does it change combat performance (probably not since rider and mount are usually considered one entity except for elephants which have multiple riders)?

Tried it in a Mailed Knights vs Spear Militia scenario. Both with 2 stat_health's secondary and 0, the knights had the same pre battle odds and did not fare differently during battle.
