Simple: Lots and lots of patience. I´ve done a bit of Bonsai myself, and animating requieres much more "inner peace" than creating miniature trees.

Oh, I thought that the pila wouldn´t be included in the first release, because they didn´t work probably, but one of the hastati units did discharge them, apperently.
Is it working now? Would be awesome.

When did we say that? The precursor missile attack function is bugged in M2TW so units with just throw all of their javelins before attacking now.

I had that on my mind somehow. I think it was in the Romani II preview, but I´m not sure, may be my twisted mind. I´ll search for it.
How many rounds will they have? Two like in EBI?

    EDIT:
OK, found it. I think I misunderstood:
"They have a pilum as secondary weapon, so you can make them throw it manually or in autofire.
The "throw javelin before charge" aptitude is buggy, sometimes the soldiers with this attribute don't attack anymore and get slaughtered in close combat, so we don't use it"

They get 2 in the EDU, although because not all of the soldiers throw their pila in each attack you usually end up a few extra volleys.

Does this mean that phalangites will not have a secondary weapon, then? Because that would leave the flank and rear of the phalanx completely exposed, and I didn't see a secondary weapon in the screens.

Right now they have a secondary weapon (you can see the scabbards in some of the pics) but we might have to remove it if the phalanx isn't working how we want it to.

A video showing the loading animation of the Oxybeles. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQjo_K7aJCk After it´s been destroyed: https://imageshack.us/photo/my-image...e4c6a9c.jpg/;D

Oh, forgot to mention the Credits: model, skin, animation and renders of the Oxybeles by Tux!
Holy moley! Wow. Great job guys.

EDIT: Whilst watching the video I came across this on another channel (possibly Praetor's ), it's pretty badass. Is something like this going to be in EBII?

I hope not Stratigos, because quite frankly it is not good enough. See how straight the head flies? And how easy.

    IIRC, no decap animations.

Also, I'm sure this has been asked (literally sure) but are those the final horses? They seem slightly on the biggish side in some of the previews.

Fighting isn't about winning, it's about depriving your enemy of all options except to lose.

Indeed, I am sure team EB can do better than that.

I've argued against decapitations before: it's simply not realistic. Decapitation is difficult enough when the victim is bound and has his head on the block: until the invention of the guillotine it often took multiple tries. In face-to-face combat, that's just not feasible; and not practical either. You don't need to split the vertebra to kill someone: severing the throat arteries is quite sufficient, and a lot easier. There's no reason to go for the back of the neck.

Dismemberment is possible with axes and heavy chopping swords, but I don't think it was that common. The shield was the cheapest and most common piece of defensive equipment, and a shielded opponent would only expose his weapon arm when striking. It's also difficult to make these animations look anything but schlocky, so I doubt the team will bother with it.

Don´t worry, we won´t. Decapitation animations are out of the question. We might do something a bit more special with Falx animations, but always within physical and historical standards.

I thought that the death animations in M2TW were a huge improvemwnt over RTW´s, eventhough it´s just more eyecandy (which with EB2 is loaded allready).
I can imagine that it is a lot of work to do them yourselfs, but are there any new special ones for the overhaed spear, which so many units use?

There´s a whole new family for the hoplite animations, if that´s what you mean.

If you mean fatalities for the hoplite family, no, we haven´t done that yet because some attack anims of that anim family will be revamped.
