    Default Germany

Just how clean is this country?

Everytime a buddy comes back from Europe, They rave about France, Spain, Italy, and London (sorry brits, it is what it is)

But when the subject of Germany comes up all you ever get is

"Well it was a bit on the clean side"

Considering how much poll smoking these "German"-Americans do you'd figure they would have glowing reveiws about the place

And for the record, America is a dirty country filled with strip malls. Never visit me
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

Not sure what kind of information you are exactly looking for.

But to give you an idea - for our house we have three different garbage cans + one garbage bag for*
    - paper
    - organics
    - packaging material (e.g. plastic, cans)
    - the small remainder that does not fit the above categories
In addition we separately collect e.g.
    - batteries
    - cork (!)
    - electronics

In all likelihood our garbage is better organized and cleaner than the content of your fridge

    'nuff said.

*EDIT to add: We also received a 2-page overview to help us decide what garbage items fall into which category

Yeah we know its crap, why do you think all our humor is self depricating?
Being better than the worst does not inherently make you good. But being better than the rest lets you brag.

Germany is very clean, they probably expected it to be. If that's all they remember they propably never visited the place, Berlin in particular. Berlin nightlife> everything else. Are they sure they didn't get lost

Just come to October fest and see, ok.
It is the end of September by the way.
Leave at night and come back early in the morning and wonder what they did with the 30 tons of trash...
    and yes they sorted it.

    Prostitution is legal.

German porn is known world wide to be naughty.

Beerfest is the worlds biggest party.

14 is the legal age for sex.

16 is legal age for drinking.

If your friends can not find a good time in Germany, I would question the ability of your friends.

die Wiese here. (pronounced die Visa to you out there)
If you can’t find it, you must be lost in France.

If all your friends did was talk about France Spain and England then they didn’t get here...except maybe to change planes.

I know, I wanted to make him work a bit to find the right term.

And don't the Bavarians say "die Wiesn"? Wiese is the normal german word of course but they got their silly accent after all.

And I guess that is why I see the better part of three Irish counties here in Oktober.

Did you know that Irish whisky is cheaper here than it is in Ireland? The American stuff is about the same price as in the US but that is a long way to ship it.

Beer on the other hand is less than soft drinks.

Of course we have loads of castles and cathedrals too and much cleaner than you will find in the other places mentioned, and so are the women.

This area is the exact place of origin of the Pennsylvania Dutch and other German groups from this area, such as the Amish. They were German refugees fleeing before French troops indulging in their ancient French tradition of invading Germany for sports and glory.

Conveniently, our dear German friends located many of their richest cities just near the border, along the Rhine. For practical purposes, I'd wager, because it saves a Frenchman looking for loot the hassle of having to ride all the way into Allemania, with all the ensuing destruction and added costs for the German population this brings about. A fine arrangement. Sadly, this made the local Germans develop the habit of emigrating to America en masse every so often.

It had never really dawned on me that they may have picked the Pennsylvanian interior because it resembled their home so much.
