Thread: Hayasdan aar

  1. #1

    Default Hayasdan aar

I have been playing around with powerpoint lately b/c it is easy to move images around, edit, add text, etc., and b/c I have to learn it for my new job. This is my first extensive Hayasdan campaign (I hope), my last one ctd after 4 years. So this will be done entirely on powerpoint. I never intended on posting this here, but it has been one of the funnest starts to a campaign. If this doesn't cdt I will keep playing this. Hopefully until the complex reforms are finished and beyond. I am not sure why I never played Hayasdan before. They are one of the only factions (ptoly being the other) that I have never really played out.

This is my first aar and it is mostly a lot of fluff and very little substance.

By the way, I understand that my pre EB history is off because I am assuming I will have a huge empire at some point, and history is written by the victors.

Hopefully this is not full of fail. I am just trying to have some fun and share with others.

You can simulate it by using Force Diplomacy. Use it to make Seleukia give you a load of towns, then immediately disband any slave garrisons, and give them all to Epirus.

Nice AAR Moriluk! Don't worry, it's not full of fail :P

One thing I don't understand, why raid eastern Seleukid towns when you can add them to your Orontid Empire?

@Arkeolog4 Thanks. I just don't have the money or infrastructure to hold everything and I am trying to avoid a border with the growing Bactria. For about 20 turns I would have 4 - 5 cities sieged by small elite AS armies. It got old. So I cut the populations and mics down. Eventually I will have to conquer the east but for now my concentration is in the south and the west.

Pontos died so no civil war.
I have cheated Rome 500k and they are still failing. They can't take Sicily or keep Taras.
I am glad people like this. I only wish I had played h/m instead of m/m.

Very impressive AAR. I've always wanted someone to make a detailed and interesting AAR about the Hayasdan and the reforms. I'm very satisfied, and I thank you, moriluk. Are you going to continue this AAR, even though you have achieved victory?

Yup. The fact that I haven't played Hay before makes this tons of fun. After 3 1/2 years, this game got sort of new again. I love Hay because it reminds me of Foundation trilogy. I wanted Persia to be my Terminus; use superior technology to conquer the surrounding barbarians, then have a go with Armavir (Trantor). But Pontos died so that won't happen.

Nonetheless, the reforms give me something to write about. I don't have the creative writing skills to write a 150 year Luso aar. It would be like... "here are another 20 pics of me outsmarting a simple AI...again, I am such a military genius".

Problem is I don't have the leisure time I used to & this is incredibly time consuming. I do not know how some of the guys here have the time or energy to write these extensive aar's. Mine is quiet simple. Not too many pics, not tl;dr. The problem here is I cannot edit what I have done. Many mistakes.

You're already well on the way to recreating the empire of Cyrus the Great.

edit: this hasn't crashed yet. I process_cq a new gov instead of building it. Perhaps that helped?

I should have mentioned in the first post that this was meant to be read while listening to multiple versions of Ravel Bolero in succession.

ha. uh, ya. a lot of this has been done for a while. I just haven't bothered putting it in final format to post. Now that I think of it, it kind of does make me look like a basement dweller.

The unit in the first pick is just a celtic lesser king. I just play it up because Hayasdan cannot get any of those nifty Galatian troops. So I use the celtic lesser kings as my heavy infantry in the west.

I have accomplished most of my goals here. I want total control of Arabia and I would like to have some money at some point. I have not developed in every province since the early turns. I have to cut corners on every turn. ALL other factions I would be filthy rich by now.

Tons of cheating going on here as everyone hates me and everyone has a completely unrealistic amount of soldiers. I could not tell you how many times Isreal has been seiged. This is old news to EB fans. I suppose it is old news to total war in general. I thought about letting the empire crumble and I may just do that yet, but probably not for a while. I may nerf this thread a year from now. I have always wanted to play a campaign all the way to the year 0.
