So because I am an american, I browse r/guns from time to time. Came across this post today, thought it would provide some interesting conversation here.

This is when everyone begins to circlejerk about which rifle was the best. Hope you enjoy looking through the album as much as I did, I thought it was a good gallery of the weapons used by your average grunt in the deadliest war in history.

The Mongolian one (Mosin Nagant M1891/30) is by far the most aesthetically pleasing. I love the curves on the stock.

The STG 44 was a rifle, and was a superior weapon. One could even make the argument that a late model G43 was better than the M1... that's a more complicated discussion, of course.

Germany went on the wrong path on Atomic Bomb.
In term of technology in weaponry, they use the same than the Allies, including USSR.
The Wehrmacht was lacking of sub-machine guns, the standard rifle (Mauser 98 A or K) was from a design of the Pre-1 WW, as indicted by the 98 marking.
In term of tanks, it was the use, the tactic that was more advance than her opponents, this was true on the Western Front, but that true not on the Eastern Front. The French tanks in the 40s’ were better (in some aspects) than the German counterparts and when used properly, gave a bloody nose to the Panzer Divisions (i.e. battle of Gembloux). And in the East, it became even worst for the Germans. From the uniforms to the weapons and tanks (with few notable exceptions), the Germans were under the Soviet standard.
For the “miracle” weapons, the German were ahead for missiles, but these were useless weapons. They spend precious resources in men and material to hit London when the Russians were heading to Berlin. As the new generation of planes, the Germans were ahead with the ME 262 (mainly) but the Allies were just behind. The GB Gloster Meteor arrived in 1945, and had the potential to be developed, Germany couldn’t afford. It was in 1944 that the soviets experimented their first Jet Engine, not based as the western Propaganda did successfully spread, on German Design. They used, as the USA, and included German technology, but they had their own research, as the Italians, the French, USA and the British.

I really think you should read a little it more. This last passage is a mix of Conspiracy Theories, extreme-right propaganda, and pure lack of knowledge. I can probably go from one to one of your example but it would take too much of my time. The best of your rant: "The Nuclear Bomb That Hitler did not want to use". The same man who sacrificed his own soldiers in hopeless battles... But the way, there is only one Human Race (that is biology). However cheering for the Aryen Race is cheering for the Nazi Ideology. Nazism is based on Racism and it sick claim that some humans are superiors to others, and the superiors can at will slaughter, enslave or just exploit to death the others.

Stop read comics and read specialised books. The German last weapons were an answer to the T 34 and KV85 (e.i. Panther), not and technology breakthrough. The Germans never developed a Strategic Bomber Command, and just 1 4 engines “bomber” (Kondor) that was not good enough. The best assault airplane is the Stormovik, I would had the Thunderbolt to it.

How amusing would it be if Empire and Total Relism were the same person trolling under two different personalities. The cut and paste as well as the hyperbole certainly seem similar. That's okay I'll bite.

Nazi technology tried to replace German perfection with innovation and destroyed both in the process. The most successful German rifle, the same as the majority of European weapons of the time, was the Mauser. Often imitated, somewhat duplicated, it still stands as a benchmark of precision rifle making. A weaponsmith friend of mine says that in his circle they refer to the Enfield as a soldiers weapon, because it sent lead downrange the fastest, the Mauser K98 as a hunting rifle made to kill anything at great range, and the '03 Springfield as a target rifle, made for competition shooting.

The warfighting techniques developing during WWII favored the most lead downrange approach, making a semi-auto like the M1 a great option.

The best soldiering rifle of the time was the Karabiner Model 1931 (K31) used by the Swiss army, who didn't participate in WWII so I suppose it doesn't qualify for this study.
