Default A moment of silence please.

At 17:42 GMT yesterday, my computer, Frederick, was sadly declared dead. As some of you know, for the last week or so he had been suffering, and yesterday he finally stopped working. He was a good computer, with parts from all sorts of computers. The fans from a 5 year old Time Computer, and a brand new Graphics card. But now he has passed away to computer heaven, as the Motherboard, Processor and Power Unit finally gave up and stopped working. At least once i buy a new computer, i can take all the good parts of the old one (Hard Drive, Memory, Graphics Card) and put it in the new one. That way, he shall live on, but in a new body.

    Freddy, we hardly knew ye.

Mhm. The last one, who came before was called Humphry. He was quite good. I think he went into the making of Frederick. I want to save the stuff i have on Frederick though, because he has some quite old files on, some dating back to 1994. Oh well. If someone can come up with a good name for my next computer, i'll be happy.

Henry was the name for the Time computer. We won it from the Daily Mail, and used him for about 2 years before replacing him with Humphry, who was replaced by Frederick who shall now be replaced by someone else.

Damn, i just realised. I'm going to have to buy replacement stickers too. I've got some cool ones on Fred. One of them is a joke on the Intel Inside stickers, saying Evil Inside instead.

Give it a Germanic name. How about Albrecht von Hapsburg?

There you go, I bet he was a good computer and his passing will be mourned.

If my computer has a name it would probably be Blasted thing! That's what it ends up as most commonly.

I won't say what I was calling it a little over two weeks ago; suffice it to say it was long, inventive, and not at all complimentary. I was not very happy to find the motherboard, processor and RAM all nicely cooked and partially exploded thanks to a power surge, and my primary hard drive corrupted beyond all hope of rescuing data before I had chance to back up more than a few folders. It finally refused to work with this 'pleasant' smell of burning. 17 days later and it's finally back and working with half the innards replaced: thank God for insurance! Actually, it's quite a substantial upgrade; if it had not cost me about 95% of my data and a lot of lost time I'd be almost happy.
