Are you certain? I´ve always though we had a pretty laid back attitude to that, and as long as you don´t overdo it it´s no problem. Granted, I´ve overdone it maybe once or twice (remembers a certain rant about history in school) but I don´t think it´s the kinda thing you get banned (or even warned) for. As long as we don´t spread it to other threads and don´t use it in every single post just ´cause we can I don´t see no problem. The f word is after all the most useful and versatile word in english. :yes:
thrust me the f-word and the likes shouldn't be used. It's against forum rules. In another subforum you'd get a warning stante pede. Mod forums also abide to the same rules as the rest of the .org.
So what Belgian beer do you guys have? I'l thirsty. You've got Westmalle trippel?

So long as you're not talking about Pale beers, Fine. They taste like a cocktail of Irish Cream, Lime Juice, and salt, or, as I overheard a lady at a bar calling this concoction, 'Blowjob Revenge.' She had just fed it to what appeared to be her (possibly now ex-) boyfriend/husband. Needless to say, I almost laughed myself to death. I even fell off the bar stool at one point.
Oh, and On the Subject, could I have an Irish coffee? I've never tried one.

You'll want to look to Celtic Viking for that, I think, he's always been the naked gaesatae. It's just natural that you'd mistake his nakedness for his holding a longsword. They look about the same sometimes. That's his second hitpoint.

If they objected, it was because of the content of our discussion not the language we used. The Tavern is, after all, the place to get drunk and say things you'll regret in the morning after discovering yourself in bed with General Appo. So no, I don't think I, at least, care for the limitation on the most versatile word in the English vocabulary. Yup.
I've been planning all my tours and whatnot in Europe when I fly over to York (that's Eboracum to you, folks) this October. Thinking of climbing Snowdon, Scafell and Ben Nevis and exploring Lake District during autumn weekends, then heading up to Norway during winter to see the aurora with a few other fellow scholars from London/Edinburgh etc. Then tour Hadrian's Wall, Offa's Dyke, Bath, Canterbury, and Colchester in late winter. In spring I'll take a trip to Holland to visit Hax on the way to Osnabruck to visit the Kalkriese museum and see the Teutoburger Wald battlesite and artefacts. On the way back I'll probably visit Switzerland, heh. Haven't exactly decided where I want to go yet for Summer, though.

yes, this is real. there is only one person handling publishings over there, and he has to deal with a mega flood of information. I've sent 7 uniforms this week alone. hanverdidi sentas many as a dozen, one guy made a few bavarians, and there are of course the russians by Rf-figuren. this is not counting what hasn't yet been published, and the articles with no need for pictures.
I never got why people get so buggered off about swear words, there just words after all, who gives a ****. (lol)

Pontos Campaign status: Peacefull.
Bought Antiochus and Tarsos from the Ptolemaioi, (cost a fair bit but I had spare cash and no it wasnt a bribe)
Had a small war with the Getai but they signed a ceasefire right away.
Conquered Pergamon and Byzantion after roleplaying that after the Death of the previous king, Pergamon Declared war on Pontos, (it worked because the garrison of Pergamon immediatly left the city and headed for Pontos territory.) After Pergamon was captured the army discovered evidence that Thracia was supporting Pergamon so the Western Pontos Army marched on Byzantion.
Other then that not much though.

I dont really find offensive all those swear words... well they are but.. meh all the forums are way too strict with that... hell once I was banned of one just cause I said f*** :shifty: I mean , I think its a way to avoid flamewars or something... but the ocasional use of "the most versatile word" is quite alright if there's no overuse

pezhetairoi, no offence, you've been a long time member. But I'm not a junior member either. When I was moderator in the BL subforum, and would have seen that word in a post. It would just be deleted straight away. In other forums your post would get edited and you'd get a warning. Believe me. Cause I got a warning for it once, and that was the only time I didn't use *'s in more than 3 years membership.
The only reason why they have never made a problem about innapropriate language, is because the EB moderators are bussy people. They usually don't have the time to read all the posts in here. But as an ex-member, I do know how the EB team officialy point of view on spam, inappropriate language mod bashing,...
This isn't soley EB's forum either. At the .org innapropriate language isn't tolerated either.
OT: Westmalle, and belgian beer doesn't taste like that at all! It's the best beer in the world.

They certainly haven't ever tasted a triple beer!

Nah, same as everywhere else really, bloody is a lot less bad than the most versatile word, but it's still not encouraged.
Oh, and I was thinking, we should have a great big EB get-together. Have a flashmob at hadrians wall or something. Would be crazy fun, and we could even adapt it to be a picnic or something. Anyone interested, PM me.

Hurray! I'm seriously starting to plan that trip to Norway I was thinking about now. Two other scholar friends have very very enthusiastically signed up so we are committed now!
Any Norwegians here or people who can recommend good places/past destinations in Norway for aurora watching between 22nd and 29th December? I was planning to fly to Oslo, then make my way up to Tromso by steamer or something and THEN after that find my way (somehow) to a small place called Storfjord which is some kms outside Tromso. But I don't know if I'm missing some place that's better?
Anyone can give any suggestions on better alternatives? Some of you guys have lived in Europe longer than I've lived, I'm sure.

Well managed to get around the CTDs by leaving the script off for a turn, probably not recomended but its better then starting a new campaign.

I had a chance these past weeks...
It was a contest in a mall where there was a big submarine filled with small litle subs , you had to guess/calculate the number of minisubs , and if you guessed right (or were the closest to the number) you were going to win 30 thousand (30'000) US DLS to spend in that mall ... you got a chance (ticket) to participate for each 80 DlS spent in the store... ( I had 8 tickets)
I passed bout 2 weeks calculating the volume of the big sub and the minisubs and doing a lot of calculations...
Yesterday I found out that one store clerks heard that the actual value was 11330... that isn't official but... my closest guess was 11553... I'm afraid I'm screwed <.< :wall:

-a 50' LCD Full HD TV
-A bose sorround sistem
-A frgin cooooool desktop computer
-one of the best laptops I've ever seen (its price is 4000 dls-here-)

Well, I would be over to Brussels in the winter if Eurostar wasn't quite so darned EXPENSIVE. As it is, my Norway/Denmark trip is all I can afford until Spring at the earliest.
London -> Tromso -> Oslo -> Copenhagen -> London seems to be the route I've decided on for now. Hmm.

Copenhagen is a verry nice city! Real lovely, not sure about the nights though (went there with me parents) Oslo is kind of a concrete grey city I've heard, not sure if that's true though. London well there's a lot to do and to see. Though it's not the most beautifull of the really big cities of Europe though. Not at all really. Then I'd rather go to Paris, been there twice and I'd still go back! While London, well I'v got the been there done that feeling. Rome is of course worth a visit, so are all the nothern rennaisance cities (Firenze/Florence!!!) When in Italy don't you visit Napels, dirty ugly city. And another great city is Lisboa/Lisbon, it is not the size of Paris and London but it'll do. Has great night life and a nice weather. Always sunshine and good temperature, but because of an Atlantic breeze never too hot. Vienna is also a nice city, not that big though, but every building is just a piece of art. Not sure how the nights are.
I can go and on when it comes to must visits in Europe, so I'll just add a few city names:

Um, Viking, I have to go to London because that's where my other scholar friends are studying, and that's where the Sterling Airlines flight to Tromso departs... So we're meeting up there. I ain't got a choice, dude. XD
I'm going to Osnabruck via Belgium/Netherlands in spring, might pop by to see Moros and Hax then, and maybe drag Hax along to Osnabruck too XD
I intend a trip around France in my second year with my girlfriend, and Rome also. In my third year, I will go to Greece (AT LAST!), and after that, if budget still permits, to Petra in Jordan (just a very short trip).
It's really ambitious and I'll probably bankrupt my government-given allowance. So if you happen to see some guy with an apron and a helmet washing dishes outside a seedy restaurant in a rundown part of York, be nice and give him some quid to tide him over, okay?
Well if you pass in Belgium I might be able to set you up with a free place to sleep. Depens if I'm going to live alone like last year, or go to university by train. (I went out a little to much last, so me parents are still thinking about it lol) Though even that doesn't work out, I might still be able to get you a sleeping place.
The EB Team has become increasingly concerned with the behavior and general attitude of several members on its forum. The good will that was once a part of it seems to have been replaced by negativity and sarcasm - especially toward new members. Not only does the team find this worrisome, but it also hurts the team's image while fostering an unwelcome climate and discouraging discussion of topics specifically related to the mod. As an example: If a new member asks about why Lorica Segmentata is not in the mod, he is verbally abused or called names instead of pointed towards the FAQ (and maybe given a jestful remark about "here we go again?" or similar).
This is the ORG board. These are private sub-forums; and the EB team has been granted to moderate these forums as it sees fit so long it remains within the ORG forums.
Henceforth, the EB Team will seriously consider at least temporarily banning repeating offenders for spamming or confrontational language. We also feel at liberty to delete posts which we find to be SPAM or confrontational. Furthermore, we are closing down the EB Tavern and any similar threads as they foster the type of behavior that we want to prevent from happening this board.

We have given you a chance to change your behaviour, but once again you have spoilt it. The vast majority of posts here are of a comradery nature (if rather random and sometimes tending toward spam), however a small but significant minority have persisted in behaviour that got the last EB Tavern shut down. We are concerned about the tendency of the culture fostered within these pages to be spilled outside, particularly against new forum users. There is a perception that this thread does not need to conform to the normal rules and behaviours of a forum - the threat of attack against another mod is but a case in point - but this is not the case.
We realise that many people will be angry with the closure of the EB Tavern but we have come to realise that these EB forums are not a suitable place to host such off-topic banter. The .org has many places for such topics that are far more suitable for unrestricted conversation. The association of this forum with the EB modification and its team means that the bad behaviour of a few tarnishes the image of the entire team - a volunteer organisation who do not wish to see their reputations damaged by irrelevant conversation. We are glad that a strong community has formed amongst the fans of EB, but we no longer feel comfortable playing host to it on these forums.
