for a mod well done. No, I am not trying to flatter you guys so I can become a member (though that would be nice) but I just want to say that all the work you have put into this pays off in the quality of the mod. From the biggest differences like factions, bigger map, unit differences, to the smallest thing (I even noticed that the post-marian legionaires stab and thrust with their gladii and never slash, like they were trained to) I just have to say that you guys did great. Will I get EB2? Hell yes!

That being said, I do have some questions and comments.

first, why do the stone projectors look like ballistae and not onagers/catapults. I mean even the 1 talent stone projectors look just like ballistae, they are not even bigger!

second, out of curiousity, are the Getai supposed to be the Thracians or Dacians?

lastly, do you think you could have made the Polybian reforms just a tad bit earlier? I know that it would be ahistorical, but the Polybian reforms came from Roman experiences fighting Celts, Greeks, and Carthaginians, right? Well, you could have, instead of the "wait until 242 BC and hold these cities" OR "wait until 210 BC", you could instead have: "wait until 242 BC and hold these cities" OR "hold 2 cities in Iberia, 2 in greece/balkans, and 2 in Gaul" or something around those lines.

The catapult design was introduced during the Roman Empire. EB covers the second half of the republic and the first few decennia of the empire, so there are only the historical ballistae.

"Getae" is an ancient Greek name given to some of the Dacian and Tracian tribes, but mostly for Dacians.

If the Polybian reforms came earlier still, what would be the use of putting Camillian troops into the game?
Triggers for the reforms are easily modified btw, just take a look in the mini-mod section of the forum.

1) Like Mediolanicus says, catapults were only introduced during the Roman empire. However, the ballistas used by the Greeks were far bigger than the current models. Unfortunately, the models for siege engines were never made (well, there is one old screenshot, but it's completely wacked out) and now the team has moved to M2:TW, there is little chance we'll ever see realistic models.

2) I don't think there is a clear-cut distinction. Getai was the Greek name for Dacians, but the Dacian kingdom seems to have been centred around the province to the north of the Getai. I guess one can make a case for both.

3) Actually, that's the reasoning behind the current requirements. You see, northern Italy was at this point inhabited by Gauls, while the conquest of Sicily would have brought the Romans up against the Carthaginians and their Iberian mercenaries. Off course, they had already encountered Greeks during their wars with Epiros and the capture of Capua, Tarentum and Rhegium.

Yep. Onagers belong to the era from 200-400 AD (the Onager was first mentioned in 367 by Ammianus).
In the EB era, "stone projectors" are correct to use. And indeed, our models in the game don't currently reflect the true range of sizes in stone projectors.

I wouldn't be so sure about that :sweatdrop:

Wow!! I hope that will be included in EB2. Then no one will complain about siege weapons high cost or its ineffectiveness! Just look at the size of it......

I've been playing another mod recently, and it makes me realise just how much work has gone into EB.

Unfortunately some of the difficulties I've been having with the engine also demonstrate the limits of what can be done with RTW.

What does being a Member mean? I only just realised I was one.

Being a member of the ORG grants you stuff. Don't recall what, though. :juggle:

When it's done. Although, by EB team standards, that means anything and everything.

And how do you become a member?

Edit: Actually, I might post this in the FAQ.
