The world that once every one knew was quickly vanishing. Quickly growing nations of around the Middle East, India, Asia Minor, and Africa have wiped out of all independent cities. Growing there empires off small bumps in the road. This was known the Progress Era. It though, Abruptly ended when there was no more smaller kingdoms left.

Every nation now turning to their borders, Seeing that the next movement they take would cause a major war this time, and leave there kingdom defenseless for another kingdom to attack. Now, Powers are at their peak in Military. With no words being spoke to other kingdoms, An uneasy rest came to all, not knowing when they will be invaded.

To all of the eastern kingdoms, the war between the Hindus and the Ghorid Empire have come to a standoff. If the Ghorid Empire now invades India. Then the Ghorids may be in fact one of the strongest nations in the world.

To the west of the Ghorid Empire, The Ghaznavids are now possibly looking at a two front war. With the Sindh rallying up the troops by their borders. and the Shahs doing random raids against small towns. The Ghaznavids are at a truce with the Ghorids, after a very long stalemate battle, gaining no lands and losing over half of the military a piece, For the Ghaznavids. This gets rid of one front.

To the center of the Middle East. There are no wars, Though, Small skirmishes on the Abassid Caliphate border and the Seljuk Turks. Georgia, having a rather large very well equipped army at the borders. No one knows if it is an invasion force, or a defense force.

In Africa. The Ayyubid Sultanate, once the strongest nation of the Nile, is being repelled back by one of the first African Empires. Muraka. This empire has grown from dust into a dangerous threat, taking over valuable trade posts to the Omans. and taking more ground from the Ayyubid Sultanate from Migration. The great leader of the Ayyubid Sultanate people now sets an elite army to the south, to scare away the hordes of African people,

The holy city of Jerusalem now being well under the Crusader's power. After their major victory against the Ayyubid Sultanate of Homs castle. Though, not attacking the Ayyubid Sultanate’s Damascus due to a "Cease Fire". Though, nobody knows how long peace will keep, Perhaps they are just waiting for France's army of Crusaders spotted off the coast of Iraklion to land, and break the stale mate of the Ayyubid Sultanate.

A tad bit up the north lays the Proud "Principality of Antioch." This was a result of two smaller kingdoms, The Kingdom of Antioch, and the Kingdom of Armenia. Merging due to rivals enemies. Once after they merged. They attacked the Abassid Caliphate , Winning a victory and gaining a defensive buffer zone, Aleppo. Though... The Abassid Caliphate only have towns past Aleppo, With a large poorly equipped army now at the border of the two countries, who knows if it is an invading force, or an army quickly formed to stop the might of the Antioch and Armenian people.

To the North West corner. The Turks now looking what to do, After their quick victory over a Roman Castle at the borders, while the Romans were distracted by a call that a Possible Attack from France to the island of Iraklion. The Romans are no stranger to wars in Europe. Considering that now they Divide their empire's military force. An event like this happened more than half a century ago. The western front at war with Hungry and Venice. The eastern at a dead lock between the Russians, the Turks, and any passing Crusader armies.

To the Arabian Coast line, the trade like country of the Imamate of Oman have built more of a trade empire than a military. Bribing cities to join their empire for a "Few coins" Now that they control almost the whole coast of Arabia to the Indian Ocean. They have migrated north into the Sindh lands. Possibly provoking the Sindhs, To the south, The Arabians are met with the Ayyubid Sultanate, and a rather large forces called in at the threat of the Imamate of Oman. Now they protect one of the holy cities Mecca with their lives. of course, Being a trader at best, means not being military at best. They have lost their trade outposts on the Horn of Africa, and a small island trade posts to the African nations.

The Omans now just entering the new fear of what the world has already been experiencing for the last few years. They call for a meeting for all empires to come to, At the small port city of Sur, located at the northern Arabian coast line. Easy to get to by ships from any where the Indian ocean touches. They now invite all nations to come and to discuss things easier than before. The building planning to be used is a Noble's second house, Though, The government has taken away that man's second house and declared it a Diplomatic Center. Being only a hand full of guards at the building, and a natural trade center. They hope to now, have the impossible be done, Having sent out invitations to all the empires, and have all empires sit down, and Talk.

There would be a lone Oman diplomat that was fairly young at a table with 16 chairs, Waiting for the other diplomats to come in, Seeing that no one was their yet, or even any one was going to come, He eat foods that the king supplied the house of diplomats, and took long naps right at the diplomatic table, In his opinion, No one would come out this far to just talk.

A tall, light-skinned man, wearing distinctly European clothing strides into the hall.
"Greetings, ambassadors of all the great nations of the East!"
The man then notices that the room is empty save for an Arab shoving handfuls of grapes into his mouth.
"Errr... ambassador, I suppose I should say."
The Omani diplomat continues to eat, not saying a word.
"I guess that I should introduce myself, then. I am Henri de Marseille, ambassador of the Holy Kingdom of Jerusalem."
The Arab, having finished off the bowl of grapes, lets his head fall to the table and starts to snore.
The man then sits down as far away as possible from his sleeping companion, slightly disconcerted at the lack of recognition he has received so far....

A messenger has rode his black stalion all the way from kiev on the orders of the mighty khan, he finds a long hall in which he is instructed to enter...
upon arrival the Khans faithful srvant sees a greedy man eating and drinking exotic wines and foods, as well as a strange outlanderish fellow quite in the corner wearing a cross around his neck
'i was told this was an important meeting, not a restraunt!'
his words are said with such authority that the few people in the room look at him, the Omani messenger puts his food down and addresses the messenger...

If you do any thing that could danger any one... I will have you suspended from this house of Diplomacy, and to be escorted to another inn that will be payed by the most generous sultan himself. Doors open and in the room a well dressed man enters. He is followed by some servants and couple of personal bodyguards.
He bows to the other ambassadors and then says with a strong and confident voice..

Greetings Ambassadors,
I am The Caliph of Abbasid Caliphate and the Defender of Islam.
Our nation do not like wars so we hope peace will be between us and our neighbors.
But there are still some things that needs to be cleared out.

He turns to the Ambassador from Oman...

Our southern neighbors..
We hope that we can establish trade and an alliance between our two nation.
We have no territorial claims to you and there for we will welcome you as brothers..

He bows slightly to Oman's ambassador..

But our other neighbors..
To our northern neighbors, The Great Seljuks and The Kingdom of Georgia, we have no territorial claims either and there for I also hope trade and alliances will be established.

But we have some issues with The Armenian Kingdom because we consider Aleppo as one of our provinces. So we hope that we can find a peaceful solution to this matter.

Also.. We consider Diyarbakir and Malatya, these are held by the Turkish Sultanate at the moment, as our provinces. But I hope that we can work something out with them also. Privately of course..

To our eastern neighbor.. The Malikate of Sindh..
Shiraz and Firuzabad belonged to our empire before they rebelled against our power..
It is most unfortunate that Sindhs rulers captured them before us and thus making things little bit complicated.. I hope that they come to their senses and will agree to leave from these two provinces..

Servant gives a glass of water to the Caliph and once he finished drinking he continued..

With all others.. We are open for trade..

There are some other things I must mention..
We will not tolerate NO spies and especially assassins in our lands..
If someone wants to move their agents through our lands then they must ask our permission for that before they do it..
Also .. sending merchants to our lands without trade rights could complicate our relations with their rulers..
If we find some agent or merchant in our land that have no right to be there then they shall be executed..

He stops for a moment and then continues..

But now I must leave...
My trusted friend, Mahmud, will stay here to represent us...

After saying that we bows to the gathered and turns around to leave..

The young diplomat raises up.

Ahhh! Finally one of a proper man! , Yes, This sounds one of thE most generous proposals yet in this room! I accept on behalf of the great sultan of the Arabian Coast!

The young diplomat bows to the well gifted Ambassador.

Ibn-Khaldun
07-27-2008, 19:42
The Abbasid Caliph heard the Oman's ambassador just before he left the room and turned around..

We are generous people.. he smiles.. I am happy to hear that You accept our proposal.. some others probably will not be so happy he smiles again..

But now I have to go..

Turning to Mahmud he says..

Take a seat among the other ambassadors and serve me well!

Saying that he turned and left the room..

A well sized greek man entered in the court, His face obviously showed that he did not want to come.

I have not come here to eat, drink, or talk about useless things!, I am here to tell people what the Roman Emperor wants and that is all, And first of all, let's get this straight Turk Scum!

The greek man turned to the turk.

No reason in hell that The empire of Rome will even think an alliance of your scum filthy people. We have moved more troops to the borders to make sure that these Turks do not steal another settlement from us!, I demand that the old castle will be returned, and the Armies of the Turk scum to leave all military from our borders! If they know what is good for them!

Then the greek man turned again the the Russians.

You Barbarians are threatning our northern border, I demand you pull all of your troops out from the border! To make sure we are CLEAR on that I have moved more troops to my northern front. So get the hell out of thier stupid barbarian!

Then he turned to the Kingdom of Jerusalem's diplomat

I demand that your navy of your crusading pigs keep sailing toward your capital, If they dare look at our lands your navy will be sunk and your crusading pig army Beheaded, Every last one!

The greek man walked to the young Oman Diplomat, that was already shaking in fear of the Roman Diplomat, and sat a chair one away from him.

"Thank you for having this meeting held, As the Roman Empire, We wish you good fortunes, for this meeting has been able to tell these animals of what they should be doing."

He would be silenced by the servents coming giving him a bowl of grapes, a cooked meat, and a glass of wine, With no sign of the russain getting his cooked meat.

The ambassador of Jerusalem looks slightly insulted at the Roman diplomat's words.
"I assure you, sir, the King of Jerusalem and his crusaders have absolutely no designs on your lands. And here I thought I would have a good Christian friend at this meeting. In fact, wasn't it your Emperor who requested assistance against the Muslims in the holy land not 50 years ago? The Kingdom does not wish war on you at all, rather I seem to remember that we were still assisting you in the Turkish wars until their recent peace. We wish to renew our trade rights and alliance with the Roman Empire."

He then turns to address the Caliph's emissary.
"And with that 'misunderstanding' taken care of, we would be happy to trade with your Caliphate at the current time. However, if at any time you go to war with an ally of the Kingdom, we will be forced to cancel trade. You do seem quite a peaceable nation, however. I am sure we have nothing to worry about."

And with that, Henri de Marseille seats himself again, still alone due to the lack of friendly Christians.

The Roman Diplomat seemed to be more calmed now.
Yes.. yes... all of this is true... The sudden attacks from the turkish empire and cause one of the castles to be lost has put us in the high alert... I will send word of this to my Emperor at will, Our only request is to please notify us before a crusading army is on the way, First word it was a French navy... Possibly an ally to one of the nations to the west at we are fighting, and pulled up top to defend... As we will trust you for now, We will pull back the navies that were being sent to you to "Escort" the crusades... Forgive the Roman Empire Mis-understandings, Sir Henri de Marselle.

The Roman Diplomat hears the Khan's diplomats words and laughs.
Hah, That Khan of yours is a pathetic dog. He claims that my empire will be destroyed, My empire that I have held for over a thousand years? I doubt it. If you wish to come to attack me, Come right ahead, Though, I will promise you, you will fall and perish, My navy will blockaid every single port you have, cutting yourself from the trade. While you squirm to get your armies together from your vast empire of worthless lands. You will be in debt too far for your soldiers to even considering listening to you any more, I am sure that the Turks will see my point of view. and at least pull back there armies from my border. Perhaps they are better from worthless barbarians after all.

the kypchak embassy clashs his fist against the table with such an impact tht the romans cooked meat crashs of the table and into his face

my lands have been earned rightously and yours seems to of been crumbling over recent years, regardless of whethers its 1000 years old or not, you started this, and my Khan would refuse to be diplomatic as Jerusalem has, we feel you do not deserve such prvilages, if it want for your instant threats the offer of trade would hav been gladly offered but you choose to cause havoc, you come in here with many threats, then act like the kinder one!

i remind that it was my Khan letter and not me who said this abbasids, although we must think as one,
you claim peace but demand sindh, turkey and armenia to hand over there hard earned settlements, i hardly think you can critize me, i offer you trade unless you feel that you aren't good enough to accept, which we would understand
turning my attention by to the Eastern Roman Empire my khan refuses to bk from his lands, we wouldnt dare attack you, we're sure only a nation such as yours would sub due to such dubious thought, as your first speech shows!

the kypchak messenger stands up as he sees that the oman servants finally consider bringing food to the kypchak, the kypchak messenger says 'i wouldnt eat your food if it were the last on earth, my khan taught be to be a master of austere and self-restraint, i need not your charity'

The Roman would continue laughing, and eating. Not taking the Khan as any serious threat.

"I simply asked that you are to back off from our borders. And if you do not comply, We will just think that you will be attacking the good people of the roman empire. I think every one in this court can agree with me when they see a rather larget barbarian army at their borders, We heard of your armies are just a bunch of dirty peasents, but still. These dirty peasents must be removed from the fort posted right by the river that seperates our countries, and back to your pathetic homelands. If this is not met. The Romans will do this, For you ofcourse.

We have righteous claims to those lands.
They belonged to us not very long time ago.
Also WE do not threaten our neighbors because WE will try to find peaceful ways to solve this situation.

Yes.. ofcourse. You brag about your little empire, your army marches a hundreds of miles, Your troops know how to walk and run better than to fight. And yes. I forgot, your people don't even know how to sail on the waters, let alone fight on it. If you keep this Up, surely the Roman Emprie will just simply blockaid you, and you will then, see the empire's might. when you are in debt. I have no intentions to take your lands, due to the very simple fact that your lands are worthless. Though, Maybe your Caffa fortress will be a nice claim, a nice seaport town. or hell. Every town that borders the ocean will be the roman empires if you keep this up. I do think that every one on the court thinks your a mad man now...

He turns to the Turks.

Oh great... I knew the barbarians would cling to the scum faster than a fly could. The turks should be damn afraid. Having 4 armies by the borders ready to strike. How many armies can you spare to defend against me, You ask of friendship when you STOLE my lands from me? I demand you give them back before you even speak of your "Friend ship" while defending against the other nations who you have their lands. I demand that you give the areas that you have took from My own empire, and the Abbisuds. Or we will take these lands from you

He turns to the Abbisud's diplomat

Maybe we do have some things to discuss, even though our empires are so seperated, The same empire has taken lands from both of us...

the kypchak messenger heres the ERE's rantings and cuts him short

you say the trustworthy turks are in trouble!, look at your own borders, your right inbetween 2 powerful nations that at the moment hav every reason to hate your guts, if your people new of your actions they would desert you, putting there lives in such great danger! and by mocking my lack of naval forces you also insult the proud kingdom of makuria, who also suffer from lack of ship capabilitys, you no your weaker than i and there for plan weakling tactics of attacking ports with no guard, are you a man or a mouse? dont worry, your people wont have to deal with your oppression soon enough when constantiople has been exterminated, i no you lie even if others dont, and while i would be at peace with other nations, i would rather destroy you be for any one else regardless, so you should be quite scared, your messenger can laugh all he likes but behind closed doors we no how much you fear us...and an attack on the turks who have done even less wrong than me will mean a brutal attack from me, i should leave him out of this, it is my Khan who wants the fight, not the successful turkish sultanate

The ambassador of Jerusalem, exasperated at all of this argument, tries to calm the situation down.
While the Roman diplomat is not listening, he hastily says:

"For the benefit of all the nations at this meeting, including his own, I will attempt to reason with the Roman in a way that he understands. I apologize in advance for any insults I may make towards your nations."

Then he stands.

"Ahem... my good friend, I wish to give you a bit of advice, straight from my heart, in order to keep your prosperous empire safe. While these Kypchaks and Turks are clearly *coughs* infidels and barbarians, you should remember that no matter how righteous, powerful, and technologically advanced your empire is, making enemies of too many barbarians at once may, against all logic, bring about your downfall. I would ask you to remember what happened to the old Roman Empire of the West so many hundreds of years ago. Did not the innumerable horde of Goths and Huns sack the city of Rome, however powerful their legionaires were? I plead with you: do not make every man here your enemy. Instead, make allies, preferably with your fellow Christians, if I may make a humble suggestion."

Henri de Marseille then seats himself, hiding the fact that he is silently gagging over his grovelly words.

The roman laughs more.

Please. The Western romans were corrupted as it was, and we split from them, and they fell as it is. We are speaking of no Huns, I am speaking of the Turks who steal lands from me, and A barbarian up north that wishes to attack me, but has failed to understand that The Roman Emperor have just put up a very large army of Spear, Pike, and Bowmen to the only enterence to my kingdom, They surely do wish to attack me if they do not want to leave my borders. The Roman Emperor simply asked for the forces of barbarian and turks to lower the military forces on their borders, and for the turks to give back my castle. and their would be peace, but these people want the war, they refuse to leave. This can be solved peacefully, or we can "Assist" them to move out of the border lines. It is simple, The Roman Emperor wanted peace from the start, How can Roman Emperor achieve peace when the armies linger to my borders, waiting for a weakness and to attack me? If the military forces would be removed, The roman emperor would station them into my cities. Not have them building a fort at a river end so these damn barbarians are planning to destroy the empire? Them barbarians should know that sense they are a nation of "peace" the first step of "peace" is to draw the armies away from the borders.

The Roman Diplomat sighed.

War can be averted. but only if these barbarians would listen to a civilized tongue.

the kypchak messenger tires of other nations degrading this own then speaks...

indeed the romans have fallen before to rightous people for it was the romans who would have destroyed the hunnic peoples other wise, people stick up for romans and trust them, yet there the ones that slaughther and threaten to steal lands, have they have shown perfectly here, for surely there vast empire wasnt formed in any other way but brute force? how can you call my islamic allies infidels jerusalem? you are insult to islam with such words, your just trying to guide the ERE so you dont get trampled on, the creeps tactic, at least i and my khan have the guts to say whats nessessary, instead of avoiding an inevitable war as your peoples are, as you realize that the romans are closer than us and therefore more threating, and our nations have as much a chance as the Romans have as allainces go, Georgie, Kharezms and armenia would make superb allies, your want to bring other nations into this conflict shows cowardly activity, i remcommend re thinking how you tag my nation, im sure you will, and if you treat us with respect, then in turn, i shall forget the comment you have just laid down.

Also with The Kingdom of Georgia we have better relations. They have all accepted a short time ago to de-militerize some of our borders are the best way to go. I ask you to de-militerize your border. and you spit at me, and threaten to remove the Roman empire fully? I do wish you to just listen for once, instead of using your brute force, and de-militerize your borders. Though, You clearly wish to declare war on the Roman Empire. So we must defend ourselves.

Alright.. Ummm.. I may not know to situation is at your lands.. but.. This is a place for talking out problems.. Not making things worst and leading to war... I have a Deal, since the Romans want to remove all armies from the border. they have to remove their own as well. You two will never achieve peace by throwing insults at eachother!, Think about the borders, The town people, the peasents, think how afraid they are that two armies are sitting, not even one mile away, and at any second a battle could be done! and one side would most likely destroy the town and the people along with it!...

Just when the barbarians just got through with us, and we agree to a good peace plan. The turks want to start it up again due to the fact that they want a war? Tell me, Now that you have a defensive alliance, you wish to provoke the roman empire into a full out war?... The only reason why you took our small buffer castle was due to the fact that the armies were called to moblize to the shores. Where boats would go. I am asking you to give back the lands and nothing will happen, and if you refuse. We will simply take it, We can discuss things further, But you must realize that we will not stop until we gain back our castle. We have already mobilized the Royal army of rome to the settlement outside. Armed with catapults. We simply ask of you to remove your armies now, and give us back what was once ours.

"For the benefit of all the nations at this meeting, including his own, I will attempt to reason with the Roman in a way that he understands. I apologize in advance for any insults I may make towards your nations."

The doors of the chamber are thrown open and a thin man with a dark pointed beard, flowing dark crimson robes and white silken turban arrives, flanked by armed Mamluk guards. Their shields and banners bear the insignia of the Sultan of Egypt.

After finding their seats, the thin man stands and, glancing around the chamber with a piercing gaze, begins to read from a scroll.

The Great Salahuddin, Sultan of Egypt, sends his greetings to this august body!

Something seems to catch in his throat and he all but collapses in a fit of coughing. Leaning heavily on one of the Mamluks he waves away a slave-boy's offer of water and, regaining his composure, continues in a weaker voice.

The Sultan would like to announce his desire for peaceful relations and trade with all of the nations of the region. May the riches of his Egyptian domain be shared with his brothers of Islam, and other kings of the region whose motives are peaceful.

A diplomat will be sent to each nation's lands in turn to secure trade rights and to offer an exchange of geographical information.

I, Quttub the Magnificent, will remain stationed here at Sur in order to communicate the public announcements of the Great Salahuddin, and to engage with your good selves in diplomacy.

A final warning - let no man cast greedy or covetous eyes on the Sultan's domain - the armies of Islam under the command of Salahuddin are mighty indeed and fierce in their patriotic defence of the Sultanate. Any army which dares to set foot on our lands will be wiped from the face of the earth, Inshallah.

He sits, wheezing and clearly exhausted from the effort of speech. A Mamluk guard mops his brow with an embroidered cloth.

But this will be discussed privately!

Looking the Sindh's emissary..

Looks like someone have forgotten that they share the border to us too?
Anyway..

Flecks of dry skin settle in his beard.

He rises, a triumphant gleam in his eye and announces:

Leaders of men!

I am delighted to announce that the mighty Salahuddin, Sultan of Egypt, has agreed a defensive military and trading alliance with the most holy Caliph of Islam, An-Nasir li din-Allah!

Salahuddin looks to the Caliph for spiritual guidance and will serve him as the appointed leader of Islam by pledging to defend the holy sites of Damascus, Mecca and Medina against any incursion by the infidel.

In return, the Caliph offers his assistance and alliance to the Sultanate.

May all here be wary of the combined might of Egypt and the Caliphate!

May Allah himself bless this mighty alliance as it seeks to secure peace and prosperity for all the peoples of the region!

' Noble emissaries, ambassadors and leaders from this part of the world. I bear word from the Shah of the Ghaznavids, and it is one of peace and prosperity. Trade with nations far and wide benefit both my glorious nation and our trade partners. In these times of grief and peril bonds through trade can ensure peace between our Empires, Kingdoms, Sultanates, Emirates, Imamates and Shahdoms. A messenger boy runs in and gives a scroll to the Young Omani's diplomat, The Young Omani's diplomat reads, and stands up to grab every one's attention.

Attention, to the Diplomats of the current. The Imam of Oman is taking a vote on offically declaring that this nation, since it is a Nation of Trade, and economy, wishes to trade agreements with all. Also. Since we are a kingdom of trade, We are welling our Armies as Special Mercinaries to aid ANY kingdoms in battle if it is to occur!. If you are to buy a Mercinary Army of the Imam Empire, The Army itself will not be under your control, But you may Relay your orders to the General of the Armies. All territories captured with the Mercinary armies will be given to the origional owner. Or it will be kept for the Imam Empire if it is a worthy trade outpost.

Ofcourse. Since that the Hired forces of the Imam empire will do battle most likely on neutral sides of the Imam Empire, Due to the fact that we seek no wars on our own will, The Empire itself and who ever the Mercinaries are directed at, will be considered Neutral Still.

If an empire Declares war onto the Imam Mercinaries army in an enemy territory, You are declaring War on that nation, Due to the fact that you are attacking Hired people of the empire!. Though If you attack Imam property that is on Imam Soil, You will be Removed of the list that can use Our Mecinary Armies. And any empire that wishes to attack the nation that is attacking Trade empire. You will Recieve a 75% discount on the armies.

Nations at war with eachother can BOTH hire armies, The Armies will not attack eachother. That is the only code they will follow and they will refuse a the current employer if they ask.

For the Allies of the Trade Empire, Will recieve a 50% discount.

For the prices. There will be a Starting fee. and then an Upkeep fee. Last and not least, your Map information so the armies can find where they are going.
(You are required to hire them for the incoming trip, you though, do not have to pay them for the returning trip, Due to the fact that it is Imam Property again.)

Their are Two type of armies which you can purchase.

Price = 5,000. Upkeep. 500 per turn of service.
Regular Armed Foces, = Swordsmen, Spearmen, Longbow men, Mounted Units, General.

Price = 10,000. Upkeep. 1000 per turn of service.
Elite Armed Forces, = Elite Swordsmen, Well Equipped Spearmen, Well Equipped Longbow men, Royal Javilineers, Royal Mounted Troops. General.

We only ally to thouse who are on borders, and who agree to De-militerize the borders.

The Great Imam of Marshed wishes to do future deals with all of you noble nations if this vote is to pass, If most of the court agrees no, then this idea will be scrapped. I will be handing out the votes. This vote can be private or open as well.

The Very large scroll was rather 16 copies. The Omani rung a bell, and servents began to pass the copies to every one. Though, there was still a few in a pile for the rest of the kingdoms that havn't come.

'I just have a few questions, what if many factions buy merc armys and in turn you have half the worlds nations against you?'

The doors open once more, letting in a middle-aged, out-of-breath man, his clothes still dusty from the long trek he made from T'bilisi to Sur, and some servants. In his hands he holds various scrolls, records of the meeting before he arrived. He hastily sits at the table, orders some water, looks once more at the scrolls, catches his breath, clears his throat, and starts to speak:

"Ah, gentlemen! I would like to say a few things, if you'll permit me.
First of all, I am called David Agmashenebeli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_IV_of_Georgia), in honour of our noble saviour, the one who drove out the Seljuk Turks from our lands" The diplomat says, looking pointedly at the Turkish ambassador, implying that the Georgian people hadn't forgotten. David continues:

"I am sorry for my dishevelled appearance, but I had to race from T'bilisi once we heard of this meeting, and despite my speed, I wasn't able to secure faster transport than my old horse... So, this is why I'm late and dusty." The diplomat stops, since his servant has finally brought the water. He drinks quickly, and chokes a bit. After a few moments, he's well enough to continue.

"Now, I know what has been said in this room. And I would like to remark that we are first and foremost diplomats, ambassadors, men of words and reason. Not warriors, soldiers, men of arms and rage. I wonder therefore why some of you have raised their voice, let passion come first, and threatened others... I look to the Roman emissary, who it appears has wished to antagonize every one here, the Kingdom of Jerusalem and myself excluded, of course. The Abbasid Caliphate I believed made a list of the territories they want back, as if this were a market. The Sultan of the Ayyubids, finally, comes under the banner of peace, yet warns us that, quote: 'the armies of Islam under the command of Salahuddin are mighty indeed and fierce in their patriotic defence of the Sultanate. Any army which dares to set foot on our lands will be wiped from the face of the earth, Inshallah.' They also proclaim an alliance, nearly immediately warning us of 'the combined might of Egypt and the Caliphate!' Now please, gentlemen... Do we really wish for this meeting to continue in this direction? The 16 seats aren't even filled yet!" The diplomat pauses again, and catches his breath, and writes something briefly on a scroll, before whispering something to his servant, who leaves with it immediately.

"Now, the Kingdom of Georgia would like to announce its stance. We wish for peace, trade and prosperity. Nothing more. We then wish for trade to be established with all nations, so as to have both peace and prosperity.
We will however defend ourselves if threatened, and will not hesitate to defend our Christian brothers, if they are incapable of doing so themselves, something which I personally doubt.
To the Turks, we bear no true anger for your past deeds (ooc: check wikipedia, people!), and forgive you. Yet we will not forget, nor shall we not stay wary of your actions.
About the Omani's idea, I believe their proposal also gives them some assurance. Should we all hire mercenaries, and then destroy the Omani, we will have 'our' Omani mercenaries ready to fight us! Remember, we don't directly command them. " David stops (not quite sure of what he said just there), checks his scrolls once more, nods, and ends:
"Well, ambassadors... I believe that is all I have to say. I am readily available for both public and private discussion. As some say, your move, gentlemen." He looks around, and realizes he forgot one thing:
"Oh, uh... Where can I freshen up? I'm afraid I may have brought some dust in here..."

The Young Diplomat of Oman recieved another message. Yet stands up.

It is good to see that one more has finally showed up... I was getting high hopes of a filled chair, but it may seem we may miss a few. As for the Omani's people, We only to seek profit, and peace.

We discussed this idea greatly between our great allies, Salahuddin and The Great Caliph himself, We now declare our forces under one banner, The Golden Crescent Confederation! Our great trade emprie only wishes peace, but the very unpleasent responses you to the Omans.

In discussing further matters, We have Forget about the Mercinary idea. Due to the fact that it was bringing to much anger, But I... Personally laugh at that, Seeing that Our lands are out of reach as for all that has even talked about declaring war on us...

A glare goes to the Georgian Diplomat.

We will disband our armies due to the simple fact that we are for peace.. and not for war. The Golden Crescent Confederation only wishes for all islamish people in Arabia to be protected from the nearly raising factions. A decleration of war, Will simply mean you have just declared war on the Whole of Arabia, After seeing the christan powers.

Having the faction of Antioch attack Aleppo.. and the Crusaders taking Homs, The African Warlords taking peaceful trading villages off the Horn of Africa and the small trading island off the Horn of Africa. We do not wish for any more violence. Though, I may be disbanding my armies do to good fortunes, and bringing new trades from the Far East, to all of your lands.

After Talking with the Allies, I wish to speak to the Sindh privately. Also, Even though I will be disbanding my Armies in the Far eastern shores of Arabia. The Strongest Navy of the Indian Ocean will stay. Due to the fact that the Sea is our first line of defense.

Mahmud looks at the Georgian Ambassador and says..

Are You saying that Our Caliph is nothing more than a salesman from a market?? For he has been the only ruler who have dared to come here personally to tell what are our political views and our attentions. I think we will never see a Georgian king here! Perhaps it is because of your mules and old horses? I would like to see your knights riding with them! That would be a sight!

Mahmud smiles contemptuously ...

We wanted peace and trade with you..
We had no claims on your provinces..
Yet you insult us!
Do you want that we change our policy??

The Young Omani Diplomat stands up.

Seeing that The Turks are in a scary situation, Being surrounded by Infedels that throws threats towards them. I would be in favor of letting the Turks join into The Golden Crescent Confederation. Though, I am just one of Three who must agree. I believe that if you settle your land claims with the Great Caliph. That you may gain his favor. My position is unclear on the Ayyubids. but I am sure that the Great Salahuddin would be pleased to have another defender of the faith.

The Young Omani Diplomat would look at the Sindh Diplomat.

If you could work something out with land claims with the great Caliph himself. I would think you too would be a worthy addition as well, Though, The Choice is yours to make, and then the Confederation's will.

Though... I am sure that the Origional Three would not have any problems with Muslims that would really want to join... Just speak up like the brave Turkish did, And you will be judged!

Further more, Let this Alliance praise peace for Allah... and ofcourse the Infidel's gods.

The young Omani's Diplomat sits down, and awaits the further words of the Caliph's diplomat and the Ayyubid's diplomat.

We have come to an agreement with the Turkish Sultanate. The details will be kept between us but we are happy with the results. Because we already agreed to form an alliance with them then the Caliph sees no reason why the Turks can't join the Confederacy. I think that the Ayyubids have nothing against this either.

The Oman Diplomat would have a bored face now while the Khan diplomat is talking.

Oh please... I don't know if it is a threat, and if it is a threat, it has been the most empty one in all of the court. The people from the khan, All the way up in your lands. Will waste the time to come and watch OUR holy lands while their are bigger threats at your borders... and do not address the Holy Caliph in that way in that way Infidel.. It is not wise.

For this now, He has not only gained peace between the Abbasids.. but also he gained a strong Alliance.. and an Alliance that could even help him. Not just across the sea some Infidel. I am very sure the Holy Caliph has made fair and good deals for the Turkish brothers. Now.. only if the Sindhs would listen to wise words and attempt to join the confederation...

The Oman Diplomat tried to get rid of his face that he had with Khans, Uninterested.

Well... We have most of the "Christian" Diplomats here... And ofcoruse that other one with skies and all of that...

He pointed at the khan diplomat.

I need to find out about the Ghorids and Hindus... the Seljuk Turks and Shahs. They need to attend to this meeting, before they destroy eachother... Am I missing some one..?

The Oman Diplomat looks at the list, and a disgusted look comes onto his face.

Oh... I have seem to forgot about the African Rebels... I didn't know the Great Imam would ever invite such a disgrace... nor... I never thought they were civilized enough to read a letter any ways... Well.. We have to wait for more lands.

The Oman Diplomat looked at the Jerusalem Diplomat.

I do not know how the Kingdom of Jerusalem takes the Great Imam. We must though, Try to keep a healthy, peaceful bond between our people. So, We shall first establish trade rights between our countries.. as we are one of the biggest exporters of the Far Eastern Goods, and you, seem to be the biggest Exporters of Far Western Goods... He said:

I brought word from my Turcoman HAKAN,
-We are the turks who emigrated from middle asia to the western asia. And we are the sons of Alparslan who destroyed a full army of ERE in Mazdikert with almost no forces.ERE hasnt seen such a threat since our ancestors,The Western Huns attacked to ERE and made ERE their vassals.

-We want peace but everyone knows that we love battle.Battle arenas are bed for us and the blood of enemies are drink and the head of their generals are food for us.

-We happily accepted the trade rights offer of the Guards of Islam,Abbasids. And we want alliance to fight against the enemies of Islam.

-We offer trade rights to our neighbours Kingdom of Georgia.Turks and Georgians had always the same lands,we lived like friends. So let us make a trade rights for getting better money.

-THE Turkish Sultanate is our best friend. We all are turks.Although we had divided,we should have alliances and trade rights.A diplomat near Tabriz is coming to anatolia to offer our brothers an alliance and trade rights with map information for both.If any threat to our brothers(turkish sultanate) happens, the enemy of turkish sultanate can be sure that he will have to face with the brothersip of Rum Turks with us,the turks in middle east,Great Turkish Empire who is descanded from Seljuk Bey.

-Lastly we are familiar about our eastern friend,Ghaznavids,We have a good relationship with them.We are good friends and we want peace and alliance with Ghaznavids.....

These are the words from my Hakan

If we do blockaid your towns, Raid your costal cities, reap them. What are you going to do I wonder? Try to defeat my army at the Fort between our countries? Let me make myself clear Barbarian. We can strike, Any where, at any time. If your allies, the turks think their new Alliance with other muslims are going to bring more armies at my gates, I think you will be wrong, From what I remember the Three wiser Islamish talking about the confederation. Is that they want to Defend. Not attack, Why should they come to aid a barbarian who prays to a "Sun God"? They have better things to do than waste there moments trying to save a barbarian race from being wiped out. Private words from the confederation and my closer nation friends have left me to beleive that I must make friendlier relations with the Western Turks, which I am trying. But if they declare war on me, With thier little army at my borders, they will be over run, smashed, Destroyed. I will show no mercy for the nations that threat the Roman Empire, If this Confederation is peace, then I am in no threats of a Turkish assault. "ENOUGH! This is stupidity at its best! The Georgian Office of Diplomatic Service (GODS) has been swamped with demands of alliances by both the Khan and the Emperor. The Khan is also allied with the Turks, who in turn are part of the Golden Crescent, no? The Emperor however has only Antioch and Jerusalem as close allies (OOC: if I'm not mistaken, that's it, right?).
Georgia has agreed to an alliance with both nations. We shall therefore place ourselves this way: we will support the defender. If the Emperor attacks the Kypchak, we shall side with the Kypchak; if the Khan attacks the Romans, we shall side with the Romans.
And in the case anybody else attacks Rome, or is attacked by Rome, we will remain neutral, until we might be or are directly harmed."

These alliences gets in the way in all ways to expand. What do you wish the Emperor to do, Send all armies of the Eastern fronts to the western fronts? and expect the barbarians to leave us at peace? If these khans were real men they would face us man by man in battle, but they call every other nation against us after provoking our empire into battle.

Now that the truth has been discovered, about the Khan's coward tactics. I say this to the Khan, Do you simply want your allies to take the fight to Rome? while you cower away in your wastelands you call an empire? What is your next move coward? making the Kingdom of Antioch and Jerusalem, Hell, Even the African rebels apparently in africa against us too? If not, Do you wish do join this, "Golden Crescent Confederation" yourself you damn barbarian and praise to your "Sun God" that All of the powers of islam, The Ayyubids, The Trade Empire, and even the DAMN CALIPH HIMSELF to help you against the Romans? Are you THAT afraid of Roman Steel? If you wish to provoke the Roman empire, Then face me, Not hide behind all of your allies Coward.

Though, Even if I send my armies to the western front, That will only make the Victories. for sure, Bringing in massive economics. And possibility of peace in the west, which where i can bring in My western armies to the eastern front. A man enters the room ..

Ambassadors,

I was sent here by the Grand Vizier of the Abbasid Caliphate to represent our interest.
Since the Caliph is still ill, although feeling much better now, and can not rule the Caliphate the Grand Vizier Mahmud is doing that in his name.

There are couple of things that needs to be cleared out..
If an Ally of the Member of the Confederation is attacked then this is not the problem of the Confederation. But IF that war reaches to the lands of the Member of Confederation then it will be our problem and WE WILL use every force available to defend the lands of our Member.
Also.. I would suggest not to draw our Confederation into your wars!

The man looks towards the Kypchak emissary ..

I would suggest the Roman and the Turkish emissaries to meet privately to discuss your differences.
The Caliphate can not tolerate these tensions in west!

The Caliphates Ambassador takes his seat next to the Ayyubid Emissary and nods toward him...

If this is how Constantinople feels, then I propose this: the Byzantine Empire will go to war with the Kypchak Confederacy. That's what the likely result of any further discussion, so let's agree to it now.
The twist is that no ally of either the Empire or the Confederacy will be able to participate. That is, the Turks will not intervene for the Khan, and other Christian states won't join the Emperor.
I believe this is a way of satisfying the main parties.

In other business, the Kingdom of Georgia is open to any alliance, and therefore would ally with the Kingdom of Antioch.

Well, I must agree with the Georgians most modest Proposal. To make this more of a formal War, I suggest that This war will start the first Snow Fall of 1186. Until then, We will be at peace.. and ofcourse.. We will set up the rules of this engagement. Total War would not be the path. And this is simply an act of the Kingdoms. All Cities captured by either forces are not permitted to Exterminate the Cities. As this would be an act of Total War against the People of one's nation. Until the First Snow Fall of 1186, Both Empires will be at a truce, I only suggust the First SnowFall of 1186 due to the fact we know that the Khan's armies have to travel through many miles of Wastelands to get to the front. Ofcourse, This can only happen if The turks lay their armies off our borders.

As for surrendering Terms. The country who surrender's will be considered a Vassel of the other Empire. As I said before, This is an act of the Emperors and Khans declaring war.

Does every one Agree to this most modest proposal? So every one will be known that their will be a war between the Roman Empire and the Khan's Empire at the First Snowfall of the Year 1186?

I beg your pardon, i failed to understand your words friend, but i no of not one threat since my arrival, but if you think our peoples are simple minded barbarians, that is truely your choice, just keep your messages peaceful.

Georgia...

We are most humbled by your glorious alliance, please dont concern yourself with the our peoples and our neighbours, there aggression shouldnt have to make you choose between us

Turks...

Again i wish not to influence you, but if your intentions were to attack the romans, that is entirely your decision...

ERE...

Please, no need to tire yourself! calm down, you keeping bringing war into the conversation and everyone else seems to understand you, when i have done nothing but watch! If you truely want war then fine, you can attack us, but as we dont, comments like cowards and the like are quite inappropiate!:laugh4: im sure you understand friend, im still puzzled by your want for war! if i didnt no better it would seem that i was civilized and you were barbarian friend, but what would i no?:laugh4:

Everyone else...

Please dont concern yourself with this matter, people seem to be mis evaluating the situation here, so perhaps are affairs should be private, roman friend, rather than public?
Allanices and trade may be the ERE's idea of cowardy activity but i am willing to estabish peace with anyone else who wants it!

Thank you for listening fellow messengers, i realize you have to speak for your masters and that your conversation has to be stern at times (sighs) just look at how my last messenger ended...

The Omani's Diplomat would have a tired look on his face.

It seems that all the north west does is form alliences and throw blank threats... Oh how this bores me. To see two little empires throw fruitless insults at eachother, If you mindless fools havn't notices already. Their is about to be a war Far larger than any of your wars that you will ever produce in the Far East. Having well over 4 FULL armies at eachother's borders. I am talking about the Ghorid Empire and The India's Nations. Clearly they have not thrown one threat at eachother, but SHOWN their intentions, All I can see is a Western man being provoked by a North Western man, or one would say a "Barbarian?" Other than that, Trying to bring the Golden Crescent Confederation's army into your battle against one Lone nation, is clearly out of the question. If the Turks do ATTACK the romans for your war that you provoked, The Trade empire will only send the turks one thing. Their Regards. No military will be sent to help them. It is foolish enough that the Turks even insist on helping Infidels fight another Infidel. If your armies are counted attacked and pushed back to your lands, and the same empire you attacked is now attacking you. Then that is fair game.

Over all. I agree exactly with the Mighty Caliphs' wisdom. Ofcourse.. The trade Empire is up helping nations out, who can repay them back ofcourse.

The ambassador of Jerusalem agrees with the Kypchak emissary's words.

" In an attempt to breach the misunderstanding between the Romans and the Kypchaks, who apparently both wish for peace, but feel they must war to achieve that peace, the King of Jerusalem has signed a new alliance to the Khan of the Kypchaks, in addition to his pre-standing alliance with the Roman Emperor. As both nations wished for peace along their borders, now it will be so. With no war or anything resembling it. Please do not go to war over this trivial matter. Not only have I forgotten the reason that this argument was started, but it would also put the Kingdom in a difficult position to have to choose between two allies. It is obvious that you both want peace, so then have it, and be done with your arguing. You should both demilitarize the border on the Danube river, trade peacefully, and perhaps even enter into your own alliance. "

And with that, Henri de Marseille sits.

The emissary of the Sindh rises from a private discussion table and clears his throat to draw silent attention from the other delegates.

Noble Lords I rise here to announce a treaty of military alliance has been signed into being between the Ghorid Emirate, the Malikate of Sindh, and the Sultanate of Ghazni! The primary purpose of this agreement is defensive in nature, of course, and I must make it known that any nation which makes war on any member of the alliance will face the might of all the nations. The members of this alliance do not feel it requires any special title, but if it must be referred to as something then call it the Eastern Islamic Alliance, or EIA for short.

On a smaller scale I would also like to announce that the Caliph of the Abbasids and my own King have reached an agreement over the disposition of my two western territories including adequate compensation. With that matter out of the way I humbly and officially petition for membership in the Confederacy.

May Allah most merciful bestow peace and prosperity on all present on this most glorious day!

I am sure that the Hindus will call in all of the man power they have from eastern India to help ... Be careful... and yes... Welcome to the confederation, Mighty Sindhs, as a first act of peace, I wish to disband our northern navies. to garenteed friendship, and most of all, trade. The Omani's Diplomat was still grinning.

Well, The main purpose of the meeting here was to at least establish talks between our neighbors. Then the Great Imam decided to bring every one under one roof. If these Unciviiii... I mean. People of Africa do not come soon, to talk about the trade posts being brought back. Then we will take them.

He would turn to the to the Georgian.

Well, You see we are very peacefull, but when animaaa..... I mean these people of Africa take our restocking location for Indian Ocean trade, and our biggest exporter of Slaves, We ship them all to the Eastern Isamish nations to help supply their armies, and their common workers. Then the Great trade empire will turn it's coins into swords. and claim back our trade posts. The great Imam can only think that the Ann...fican are using the trade posts as an invasion point. For that, We give them one year, to give up our trade posts. If they even bring a diplomat who can speak a language that we can understand...

The Omani's Diplimat turns to the Sindhs,

It is good to see that such trading brothers are now part of the confederation, If I may recommend. Your costal cities and our northern cities should be focusing on trade structures, As good people of the trade Empire, The great Imam himself wishes to help pay for any Market type or Port type structures, if you are having trouble with an income. May this allience bring coin to us both.

Indeed, trade is to be a high focus of my nation and the development of port facilities and roads will surely aid the economic development of both our peoples. A large man dressed in Roman garb marches into the room. He grabs some leftover grapes and stuffs them into his gaping maw. He sloshes down some wine and then opens a scroll.

On behalf of the Roman Empire, I do hereby relieve the former Roman delegate of his duties, and inform this august body that I will be speaking on behalf of the Roman people from this time forward.

Should you wish to open negotiations with the Roman Empire, send your emissaries through me, or dispatch a private message to the Roman Emperor himself. The Roman Empire will brook no aggression, and will tolerate no insult, however, we extend our hand in friendship to our nearby neighbors and those of you from distant nations.

Greetings to yourself as well.

Rest assured, the mighty forces of Rome will not be marching into Kypchak lands. We would not be caught with our backs to our own territory when the invasion from my "peaceful" neighbors arrives.

As a matter of fact, I think the Kypchaks and the Romans would do well to cement a permanent peace treaty of non-aggression, involving the following conditions:

-Neither nation will post a garrison larger than one quarter stack in the bordering province, neither shall the garrison be comprised of anything besides Militia.

-Neither nation shall send ships into the waters claimed by the other nation, for such things are the foreshadowing of an invasion.

-There shall be a permanent peace treaty and trade rights granted between Rome and the Kypchaks.

Turning towards the Armenian, Ayyubid, Latin, and Turkish delegates:

So shall we offer a peace agreement to you, if you so desire. Rome has plenty of land in the West and does not seek to expand at this time.

A lack of formal peace agreement, however, will be seen as an aggressive position, and will invite our armies to defend ourselves before yours set foot in Roman territory.

The Omani's Diplomat would yawn, Taking some more grapes, waiting politely for the New Roman and New Khan Diplomat to make peace.

The Great Sindh, We have sent a diplomat to your mighty fortress by our northern settlements to make the alliance clear. To this, You will be making sure that our lands that you surround are safe, I would like to also inform you that the Armies from the north were put on boats, now being moved to the mainland to make the Great Oman Trade Empire... more... peaceful like. Yes?...

The Omani's diplomat then turns to the Ghazi's delegate.

I have also sent a diplomat to your southern fort that now almost seems abandoned, We smile on you to see that your alliance has made a peaceful effort, and trust worthy Allies, So we, The great trade empire will also like to reach a hand of a defensive alliance toward the Great Sultan of Ghazi.

Then he would turn, seeing if the African Representive came in yet, sighs then just eyes the rest.

If this excuse of a Kingdom... the African Tribes does not bother sending a delegate to our meeting that we invited them to. We will have no other choice but to send them a messege with a sword inside. Please note to all of the empires on the border or trading to the Imam Empire, We are increasing our Military focus toward the south. As the possible threat of the Animmm... The Roman delegate unsheaths his sword, and flings it with great skill to impale the wall inches from the Omani delegate's head.

There will be no more insults towards our Orthodox brothers in this manner, Oman. You are testing my patience with your militant rhetoric.

The AFRICAN Christians who have done you no wrong do not deserve this kind of sub-human treatment. Address them kindly as your fellow man, or do not address them at all.

Politeness, gentlemen, always politeness... unless you wish to behave like "animals". Animals resolve their differences by fighting to the death or until the weakest one leaves and vainly searches for a place to curl up and die. If you wish this to remain civil, you will address the Makurian Kingdom as just that, lest we consider the Oman territories to be nothing but hostages to unruly pirates and raiders.

Would you like to rephrase your less than courteous statements towards those close friends of the Roman empire, or would you like to make an enemy today? Impoliteless will be answered with even more impoliteness. Let us not turn these negotiations into an insult fest.

Are you Absurd!?, We did not call you to out to a meeting that the Omani's Trade Empire has placed in one of the great trade cities for a ROMAN to play Gladiator and Fling swords around!, We Only wish to take back our trade outposts lost due to these... these... We only wish to ask them to even come to a meeting, For which they have all but seem to Decline my messege, of finding a peaceful way of their "Animal" like traits to expand their territorial grounds. If they wish to Expand their grounds even more, or not even bother to make an agreement to give back the Trade Empire's Trade outposts, Then they will meet the force of the Omani's empire.

The Omani's Diplomat turns and forcefully grabs the sword from the impaled wall.

Now that the Gladiator that the Romans has now sent us is now Disarmed. I will be happily to inform that no one in this present room will be threatened by his "Animal" like quality, This meeting has no rules, The diplomats come here to let out what ever their empires will, Insults is just a few of many words. You talk of invading a Christian nation, calling them animals, and threatening to kill the people there. This is supposed to be a peace negotiation, not a square from which dictators can launch threatening and deeply offensive rhetoric, backed with swords, towards the very delegates they invited to this meeting.

I was simply pointing out that such words and actions will lead to even more dire words and actions. If you behave like a barbarian, you will be treated like one and disposed of like one.

The Kypchak tribes on my northern border behave with more culture than you, sir. If you wish to reverse everyone's perceptions of you, then stop reinforcing them. Then I will not have to remind you, with the actions of an animal, how to behave like a man.

Worthless Tundra might have wildlife and rivers and raw minerals and timber. What does a desert contain that's so valuable?

Mark my words, the arabian peninsula will forever and for all time be plagued with poverty. Oh yes, and so the Romans shall invade Russia. Tough luck, Kypchaks, for it is through verbal trickery and distraction that I was coerced into declaring this war on you. It seems the Roman Emperor and I are both quite vulnerable to suggestion.

But not to worry, after the war we can ride our horses together into the sunset along the vast, cold steppes, hand in hand.... noting that the cold winter air is making us shiver, I cooly suggest that we ride the same horse, and that we cling to one another for body heat. Then, I whisper into your ear in a soft, sensual but manly voice, how desperately, and how passionately I need to exterminate your people because the Omani man said so.

Prepare to die, Kypchaks! May the blood of your family paint a glorious future for the Roman Empire!

In all seriousness, let's get this game moving again with at least semi-in-character dialogue.

The Roman delegate rises

Omani diplomat;

I have something I have to say. I fully understand your desire to control African-held lands, and I believe you are sincere when you call them animals, that you mean to slaughter them like animals. So, if you intend to treat my fellow Christians this way, I am sorry to say that I will have to assist in the destruction of your sorry and pathetic band of sorry Arabian pirates who plunder each other for booty, rather than pillage someone else's shores. I am truly sorry by the many diplomatic blunders you have made, and your sorry excuse for an army. I am sorry that your sad and sorry nation will have to be annihilated if it makes an aggressive move towards my friends. And when your sorry leader's head is lifted from the sorry sands he once ruled, it will be tossed into an ocean of sorrows, where all the rivers of tears are emptied, where it will become soaked with salt and filth and eaten by the many sorry sea creatures which live off of the coast of your sorry barbary state.

And when the final destruction of your nation has arrived, I will offer my full apology to those who assisted you as well. I can't tell you just how sorry I am.

:medievalcheers:

Don't shed a tear for Oman, friends, because their sorry arses had it coming!

Quttub the Magnificent rises from his seat with an ungainly and tentative motion, leaning on the table for support. One can almost hear the arthritic creaking of his joints.

His nose and eyes are streaming with fluid which he mops away with a stained silk handkerchief. After noisily blowing his nose, and clearing his throat several times, he speaks.

One must truly marvel at the.. *koffkoff*..frankly...*sniffle*..bizarre exchanges between the Roman emissary and our ally the Omanis.

Despite their absurdity, there is a worrying tendency here.

He sneezes ostentatiously.

Having had no word here from these Makurians, nor any signal of their beliefs and intentions, is it not the worst kind of patronising supposition for the Romans and Latins to presume to act in their defence on the grounds of 'shared' religion?

I am but a humble scholar, but even I know that the symbols, beliefs and pratices of the Coptic Church are as different from Byzantine Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism as they are from the true faith of Islam..

Perhaps the Makurians do not want to be 'saved' from the Omanis by the well meaning men of the West? Perhaps in fact they wish to war against them? Perhaps they are planning to attack and murder us all in our sleep? Who is to know?

Until such a time as their voice is heard here, it is surely lunacy itself to threaten one another with war over some presumed belief or desire of theirs...and the worst kind of opportunism for nations far from their borders to presume to speak for them!

He collapses, exhausted, and commences to blow his nose so vigorously that those around him are seen to draw back in trepidation lest his head explode.

The Abbasid emissary says...

The Omani have the right to the Horn of the Africa and to Sokotra, the small island near Arabian peninsula. I hope this can be solved with using diplomacy rather than swords. The Confederation will not take part of the attack against Africans IF the war finally breaks out.

Saying to the Roman diplomat..

The Roman diplomat yawns through everything that the old one called Quttub has to say.

Yes, yes, it's all so brilliantly thought out. "Hey, why defend the innocent? Maybe they want to die!"

As for the babbling Abassid, one brings a sword with him for protection from uncivilized peoples who threaten war against those who have done them no wrong.

Go and flatulate about 15 pounds of sand from your arse before you speak next time, for you make little sense.

Quttub fixes the Roman with a bored gaze.

My point, oh ill-educated and half-witted Roman lackey, is that you assume, in the absence of any evidence, that the Makurians are both innocent and in need of your defence.

Who are you to decide their destiny for them? Your lands are far from theirs, and as far as I know they have signed no treaty of friendship with you or any other nation represented here.

I have seen for myself the strength of their armies, and can attest they are more than capable of defending themselves.

Let them also speak for themselves, and we shall then know their minds!

Perhaps they will make a peaceful deal with the Omanis - a prospect which would surely be more likely were you to shut your gaping trap and cease your warmongering speeches against our hosts!

The Omani's diplomat is still enraged.

Butcher them!? Please, We have more respect for them than that, We sell them, Our slave trade is one of the best, until they took the horn of africa from us, We were a strong supplier of slaves! Why would one kill a Dog, It is an Animal, but you can tame them, and then re-train them for what they are good at. The Slave market does wonders!, They can be rebuilt, retrained, That is why the Ghorids have taken interest in this, and now look at their armies! Look at the Ayyubids, If these animals are tamed early, They can easily become the Greatest Warriors, Or skilled workers, or farmers, simply help feeding the common people!, You are so simple minded... Simply look at most of the middle eastern body gaurds of Great figures... Proudly, Elite, Slaves.

If this kingdom can't give back out Horn of Africa back, Then We will take it back, And ofcourse, We are all open to peaceful ideas, War is like you say, Un-profitble.

Yes, how foolish of me.

When the Makurians have yet to invade Oman, or any other nation for that matter, how could they possibly be innocent? Surely after Oman invades them, it will be safe for YOU to determine who is deserving of defense or friendships.

The "educated one" is caught by his own false logic. By injecting his opinions into the matter, he suggests I have no right to inject an opinion.

Sir, if I am not allowed to protest the Oman's warmongering and threats towards a neutral nation, ANY neutral nation, then you are not allowed to open your decrepit mouth and condemn me for my protests.

You old fool... so condescending, so arrogant, and so convinced of your superior wisdom that you don't recognize I'm only guilty of everything you just did.

The Roman sits back and waits for the senile man to either forget everything he just said, or stumble trying to form more words.

Better watch that cough, old man. Perhaps you're in need of Roman medicine. If you'll just follow me, I will cure all your ills, and you will never feel pain again.

And for such a young man you seem to have such crippling arthritis...

And what is this babbling about Makuria invading Rome? Surely you must have gone senile.

Pompous, this fool says to me? Ha! His grandstanding about how wrong it is to speak out against nations threatening to declare war against neutral nations, to enslave their people like animals, condemning me for bothering to offer an opinion, is as hypocritical as it gets, and it shows how truly bizarre HE is for placing a silent tongue so much higher on the morality list than not conquering and enslaving the innocent.

Sorry, my mistake, openly THREATENING to conquer and enslave the innocent. Our magnificent hosts, sooooo worthy of our respect.

If I had any word over this i would decline the Romans into this meeting. Though, The Great Imam wills that every diplomat is here. That also means Roman gladiators must come as well faking to be a Diplomat.

You are Very new to our ways Are you not Infidel? If I am correct The Roman Empire did that itself. Slavery is no mystery, or something not uncommon, Unlike how you think, The Islamish people treat their wares with much care, Look at the Ayyubid army for prime example, Their most Elite troops are slaves. Quttub is mystified.

Do not the Byzantine Romans themselves use slaves in great numbers, both in their family homes and working for the Basileos?

Indeed, I have heard that they practice castration on the male slaves (as is recommended by many), and buy slaves in great numbers both from our markets and from the absent Makurians, whose major export is slaves!

The Roman is confused indeed if he thinks this everyday practice somehow 'immoral' - and his point of view sets him at odds not only with most of those gathered here, but also with his own countrymen, past and present!

(OOC: It's somewhat anachronistic to argue against slavery if we're playing a game set in the Medieval Middle East. Most of the high-end BC units are slave-warriors, and all of the Islamic nations, the Byzantines and the Makurians had an institutionalised slave trade. I guess it would make more sense if the Latins were arguing against it from the point of view of chivalry - maybe your roman diplomat is heavily influence by catholicism and european notions of chivalry, and finds his own country's practices immoral? Of course I find slavery abhorrent, but that's speaking as a 20th century office worker, not an 11th century diplomat, sitting in a room guarded by hand-picked slave warriors.)

What keeps you wearing this such type of furs Khan's diplomat? I have given every diplomat here the ability to go into the city and purchase what ever they like, all paid for by the Great Imam as a gift and thank you for making such a journy. He may just come on boat, The Great Imam may be extremely old. but he used to be one of the greatest navy commanders on the Indian Ocean.

Also, the only Animals are the Kingdom them self. They refuse to be retought, and to brought back from their savage ways and shown the light. We teach them all about the right path, If you think we work the hell out of the life of slaves you are extremely wrong Khan's Diplimat. Would you work a life out of a hunting dog? and not give it any reward? Ofcourse not!, We reward these slaves by bringing them into the light of the Merciful Allah himself and guide them. They become more civilized. such civilized that even nobel sultans can trust them with their own lives, These people do deserve a Second... Re-guided chance, and that is why the Great Trade Empire wishes to help them, We can not help them that much when Savage warlords take over our Slave Outposts... Also... let's not forget about another trade source that comes from Africa.... Ivory...

(OOC: I'm same with monkey, But I am roleplaying a Trade empire that has much success off by trading slaves and ivory to the middle east. If these are to stop, I think the Trade empire wouldn't even be a trade empire, considering a fact that they had just lost some of their most valuble trade, but yeah, I am against slavery as a 20th century person. but.. this is the 11th...)

The emissary of Jerusalem stands, and for the first time, anger flashes in his eyes.

That is all well and good, but you forget one thing:
These slaves that you trade, and presumably take from the Kingdom of Makuria, have no need of your Allah and your Islamic ways. They are already Christians, and they would, I'm sure, prefer to stay that way! And no Muslim dog shall call my Christian brothers animals with impunity! The Omani diplomat's brow raises.

Now the Pope's lapdog speaks, If I am even correct, You're religion and their religion is different, Is this why the Pope's lapdog Sicily is attacking the Roman Empire? I advice you that this has nothing to do with your people, who has been showing nothing but aggression, The pope sending masses in a forced migration to Jerusalem kicking the Islamic people out. Any ways... Why does a puppet of the pope wish to even advance further into Islamic Lands, This is a conflict between the edge of Arabia and Africa, It does not include the holy lands, But yes, Ofcourse, We will leave these be, We will leave them to their canabilistic tribe like ways. I think the Kingdom of Jerusalem should first stop being dogmatic and accept our ways. We have been doing this for as long as any Islamish man can remember. It will not change due to some dogmatic lapdog of the pope coming to OUR lands and telling us what is right or wrong.

The emissary of Jerusalem's anger grows with each passing minute, but he does not lose his cool

My king is much more than just a "puppet" of the Pope. In case you did not realize, the Holy Father commissioned the First Crusade in order to help his Roman friends fend off the infidels who had taken control of Jerusalem. But if you wish to believe that, then go ahead- just know that the Pope is friendly with the Roman Empire, and holds the forces of all of Christendom at his fingertips.

And know this: The Kingdom of Jerusalem was formed in order to defend the Christians of the East. If I am not mistaken, the Makurians are indeed Christians, and whether they follow the Pope or not, the King has chosen to defend them. We do not wish to expand further East, but we may have to in order to keep the Muslims that constantly threaten our Christian brothers in check.

He turns to the Abbasid diplomat

The Omani's diplomat looked... rather not caring.

Yes... Then I gave you all grapes, wine, and beds... then yet... You're last diplomat was... just the same as you.. and now his head is cut off, and most likely put ontop of a pike while his body was fed to pigs and all.. Most likely where you will be going with your Khan. Yes.. how civilized is it to come to the host's meeting, and then saying you will be enslaving them... very... .... never mind, Considering the fact that you wish to keep this pathetic attempt to threaten the Trade Empire due to the fact that of a trade that has been going on for a very long time... is not only rude, but disgusting. So... I wish you a farewell, You will be escorted back to a mule for your trip back home, and a messege being sent that relations between the two empires has been worstened, and to please send another diplomat, or the khan himself, to try to repair the damage as you and your last diplomat did. As I said though, Our very kind Elite Mamluk will find you to your new mule... Farewell,

Four of the Elite Mamluk would start attempt to "politely" escort him to his new mule.

Any ways... I can not let the Great and Wise Imam see of this poor excuse of diplomats, You all that remain will see the very last of the Great Imam. He will be replacing me until.... the end.

The Omani's Diplomat sighed, watching the 4 very heavy armed and armored Mamluk's escort him out.

Well, The Roman Diplomat can decide for himself, For now We need to find a peaceful way for this, If Jerusalem and the Romans leave for sure, I would think that either they had given up on the kingdom of Marukia, Or they just want an excuse of war, and they have left.

He watched as each of the grabs a limb and CARRIES him out.

Yes!, These Numidian Mamluk are really worth the coin, I would please allow the christains to try them out, but they are far to aggressive to even try....

"Indeed, I have had quite enough of our self-proclaimed "benevolent host" as well. Come friends, let us all leave this place and travel to Constantinople, where we can have a real diplomacy meeting, with a courteous host, instead of this joke of a diplomat."

The only Muslims I ever insulted were the ones who would laud the destruction of Makuria.

Perhaps we Christians are not so spineless and distrusting of one another to turn our backs on a friend and brother of the faith, and perhaps that makes us appear weak in your eyes, Oman.

But I will not stand here and allow my Christian brothers, indeed, brothers of ANY faith, to be besmirched by a tiny winged monkey like yourself.

As I said... any Muslim nations with polite diplomats are invited to Rome. Should the Omani messenger boy apologize, we may even invite him.

The Roman delegation, and the Latin delegation, and apparently the Kypchak delegation, and any other nation who would like to have formal and sincere proceedings, you are welcome to join us in Constantinople.

Looks at Quttub

I am sure you would not wish to join us, but the invitation stands. When you can tolerate no more of this clown, we will not sneer at all if you should join OUR table.

Looks at the Caliph's messenger, and the other Muslim delegates

Fare thee well... but remember that you have not lived until you have seen the splendor and majesty of Rome. I will personally oversee the banquet that awaits your arrival.

The Omani's diplomat laughs.

Just because of the attempts of murder failed, the such, I will not stop you, but you are basicly choosing the fate of the Marukian people. So, farewell Jerusalem, You leave the table that is trying to solve the things peacefully through christian and Muslims alike.

Not once have i said the destruction, I have only said to claim back our lands, but pigs like yourself want more, taunting the GCC to war, which i will not accept, so please do leave, It was a mistake that Muslim and Christain diplomats sat at one table and tried to discuss things, It is certainly impossible to resolve things peacefully with the Infidels....

Now... Since that all of the Islamic Diplomats at the table... We will discuss the things about what may happen, Ofcourse, the Diplomats of the quiet Antioch and the Georgians are still welcomed to here. We have many things to discuss with you two. It is obvious that the Hindu diplomat will come to this meeting. So yes. The Ghorid Empire, We do have a deal for you, And the Ghazies, we are still awaiting for the response. Please contact me privately for the deal.

The Abbasid Ambassador shakes his head and says with a tired voice..

People lets just calm down!
This is a place where we should work and find diplomatic solutions to our problems!
This should not be the place to start some of them!
You are all diplomats and we do not need your personal opinions about our states relations!

These maps I have given to all of you were just to show you the current state of who owns what!
And thats all!

Also.. All the regions the Caliphate have recently gained they have done it through diplomacy and without any threats! If there are someone who do not believe that then they can ask from the ambassadors of the Turks and the Sindhs if it's true. It is most disturbing that we are called 'robbers' or even worse than that by people who should represent their nations!

If the Caliphate would be so terrible and run by 'robbers' then we would've attacked the Kingdom of Antioch for not agreeing to give us the province we asked. But instead of that we understand their reasons not to give it and we respect it. The Abbasid Caliphate is run by peace loving people and the Confederation was created for defensive and trade purposes if this was unclear to someone!

The Members of the Confederation can expect all the support by the other Members! This means military support if they are attacked or financial aid if they need to improve their trade buildings!

We are forgiving people. SO we will forget the insults against us and offer the chance to start this meeting all over again.

Turning to the ambassador of Oman..

And we shall talk in private!

I am sad to see them leave, but also happy, The Great Imam will be expected to land in the port city Sur in a matter of time.. I can not have him be brought up to such insults of an empire, If he wishes to be open of every possible outcome.

The Great Imam will give an anouncment, for to all of you that are still here, then he will pull each Islamic Diplomat to the side and discuss more important matters to each of them. He says these matters are the most important, and must be done before the "End."

He is unclear about the Romans, Jerusalem, and Kyphchek diplomats pulling out, Due to the fact that Islamish people have been doing it for many years now... He will make his annoucement to the Islamish diplomats and what is left of the Christian diplomats.. We welcome Both Kingdom of Antioch and Kingdom of Georgia to stay.

A new Roman ambassador is sent to these meetings

We welcome the Turks as one of our own. Surely if pagans are welcome, then an honourable Turkish nation is as well. I would consent to a defensive alliance at this time with our great neighbors.

Honoured Turk, we thank you for agreeing to join our defensive coalition. This will do wonders to ease the tensions between the Christians and the Golden Crescent Alliance.

With a peaceful settlement between Oman and Makuria, there need not be any conflict at all. Is that possible, honourable Caliph? I know the departure of the Turks so abruptly may be upsetting, but in your wisdom I know that you can see tensions beginning to cool.

Let us not begin this new era of progress together with petty bloodshed.

I would like to say, if the Omani diplomat does not learn to soften his tongue, I will be the final Roman emissary sent to these proceedings. The Diplomacy building's doors would open very slowly, Seeing a VERY old man with a cane maybe moving at a turtles rate... The young Omani's diplomat stood up from the Host's chair and ran to the upper floors.. out of sight.. As the doors would open up, there would be at least ten Mamluk Guards would be watching him, with a Gaint chair in the back of sight, Obviously being caried to the Door... Perhaps a sign of respect, and even self respect.
The Old man would look up and smiled at every one at the court, Then continued at a turtles rate toward the grand chair that the Young diplomat that had sat on. No Mamluk guards come to even serve him, to show that He was just a man like every one else.

Dear... Friends.. I of the.. Oman trade empire.. I am the... Great Imam.. Marshed...

The Great Imam would start to have a serious cough, but as the Mamluks came to aid, he waved them off and tried his best to follow foward, He simply sipped on the wine that was obviously old from the Young diplomat.. and continued.

I am soo.. delighted to see that.. Most of the Empires that have.. seen through the darkness of... time.. have.. been able to survive so long.. through out history...... Every empire has a story.. Every empire has a leader... a Mortal Leader... I... am amungst them of Mortal Leaders... Yet.. Great Imam, I believe I speak on behalf of all here when I thank you for having made your way here. However, I - still speaking on behalf of all here, I hope - think it was both unecessary and maybe foolish to do this. Unecessary, because we are diplomats, and you have one such servant here... although he has left just as you entered... And foolish, on account of your old age. In T'Bilisi, a note would have sufficed.
But I respect you all the more for it. The Kingdom of Georgia has seen its esteem for Islamic nations go down recently, and you have brought it up - to new heights! I respect, and applaud you for that.

Who ever.. shows this much respect.. to any one... even if it is to some one that is very different.. in all spectrums.. I applaud you... or.. i'll try...
The great imam made a gurgling sound for laughing, then returned to a wicked cough, which caused the guards to jump up again, but they were met with the angry hand wave.
I am happy to hear this Georgian... I hope all of my wares.. goods.. services can suffice.. if you need any thing more... or personal diplomacy... please meet me.. in my chambers... I.. may be old... but it brings my heart much energy.. when I come into this room.. with so many.. facinating.. people..

It is not wares, goods and services we require, but we wish the one item you cannot peddle in market stalls across cities: peace, and the assurance of peace.
It is not an item one man can normally promise, but you can keep your Golden Crescent Confederation on a tighter leash than you have until now. And of course, with that leash, you can assure the rest of the world peace.

Quttub rises to speak - he has what appears to be a scaly rash all over his hands, which he wrings together nervously as he addresses the gathering.

The Turks are most welcome to ally with whom ever they please - we well understand their desire for peace with their neighbours, a desire for security which is shared by the great Salahuddin.

There is no ill feeling from the Sultan of Egypt towards the Turkish Sultan for his decision to exit the Golden Crescent Confederation - he wishes only peace and prosperity for the Turkish people as a result of the decision.

It is fortunate for the Turks that their neighbours do not spurn their offers of peaceful alliance as the King in Jerusalem has done with Egypt's...or altogether ignore their entreaties as the Makurians have done...or, indeed, reject for no reason an offer of trading rights as has the Khan.

The Kingdom of Makurians Send a man of no words... they have been building their armies considerbly... and they make no friendly treaties.. such as Trade, and yet.. you come here in silence...? Give a brother a glare after you take his lands..? Greedy.. Hungry for more..? ... I am thinking... These people... Will expect others to aid them...? The one of the.. reasons for the.. Golden Crescent Confederation on my behalf was Marukian's Aggressive status... If the Marukian people did attack again... Would say... Jerusalem Aid them... for land greeds.. not religion..?

There is a point my.. friends... where greed.. takes over the faith... of helping a religion... there is a very difference between.. greed.. and helping out others.. There are many types of Greed... some requires more lands... some... like myself require more trade... and others.. just want every thing... This can also be said about Religions... The people of Christ... Islam... Pegans... Hindus.... and even the Buddah from the far east... Though.. All of us are the same... We are all brothers... Does not matter on Area.. Religion... Or skin color... We are all the same.. Our faiths may be different.. though... Look my friends.. We are all living.. we all see eachother.. we all have similar resemblances.. Though.. Culture changes every man in a certain way.. in it may be greed... or honesty... or wisdom... To be dogmatic is a poor excuse of a leader of people... I see that the Turks.. and the christian friends of these turks.. have made a strong effect of rid the dogmatic traits... I think.. every one can hear what you want.. for your newly conquered places.. as it was an Unprovoked attacked, and invaded non military settlements.. and ended up killing most of the Innocent Omani's trade people stationed there.. Many of my people seek war with your kind.. seeing that you have attacked and took over our trade posts, Now no signs of any of the trader's lifes.. no trade from the cities.. We can only assume they were Killed by the invaders.. I will now.. say that this was not on the act.. of christ... i have not known of any attack on your traders, instead they are living in our settlements, we arent cruel enough to destroy them, although i see your peoples were all to soon to attack the africian lands which not so long ago, werent even yours
the non-military settlements were merely given order and men to ensure the populance safety from rulers such as you...
but still we have only enough military to keep the towns happy, you could easily take our cities when you liked, which would show your military brutalitity and ability to upset a place that has finally had time to settle...i think doing this would show greed, desepate greed on your part, not ours

the makurians sips and finally adds...
our ruler told the force arriving at these places to explore and provide for there peoples that were strican by famine, we have built the town up to city leval and the populantion are very much happy, which differs from your original invasion, i only hope your next leader will have more sense after your death

The Great Imam shakes his head at him.

How could you.. even use that excuse..? We did not even have a strong military on the islands and horn of Africa... They were quite fine until you took over the lands due to your damn greed... The Ruler of Marukia can not.. used the excuse that He was.. simply taking back his lands.. due to the very fact that he Sailed off of the African coast, and invaded the small Arabian trade island.. and now you use it as a barganing chip to ransom back to us...? Or are you placing your forces on the small island for an invasion of Arabia it self...?

I would doubt that These settlements would be striken to famine, due to the very fact that the Great Trade nation of Imam has a better economy than Your petty kingdom.. even with out trade settlements gone, Simply killing off the garrisons and saying it is your city, and then saying that you were helping them.. your "Conquest" is sickning to me... If you wanted them badly, You would have sent word of a purchase of territories. Though.. You only sent Brute force. Invaded the Horn of Africa which never belonged to you as much as I, But to your fellow African Tribes that you invaded... And then you sail off with your boats to invade our island trade outposts..?

How your invasion differs from mine, Is that the Great Trade Empire built outposts, which became the cities, We simply, Migrated there, same as we migrated to our Sindh's lands. and look at the peace that comes between us... but you..? Your invasion took over the cities the outposts that were built.. You try to,.. act noble.. but you just have a poor excuse... to not see the true might of the trade empire... I will reccomend that your forces will be disbanded off the Arabian Island, Due to the fact that people from Africa made an provoking move, Knowing it was an empire far greater than your own and taking two settlements. You may keep the horn of africa if you wish.. but we demand our trade outpost in Suqutra, And resume the trade between the horn of Africa. If you accept this, You will keep the one settlement that you can argue that is yours. And you will have a great income from the trade through the Trade Empire. If you refuse this though, The Heir may decide to take more... If you think the Heir to the Great Trade Empire is more sense. He is more...Dogmatic than I am... and if you can not repair the relations you destroyed when you made the provoking move to capture our trade settlements, Then you will have to deal with the Anger from the Heir, Ofcourse though... The Heir himself is set with the Royal Army of the Imam at the Ta'iz Fortress, Origionally from a possible skirmish with the Ayyubid at Mecca. Though, due to honesty of the Ayyubid Sultan, That was to never to happen...

The Great Imam would start to cough again, this time with some blood into his cloth, The Guards would run up and tend to him, until he stopped, then he sighed...

If you think.. the trade settlements at Calula and Suqutra were starving.. that was simply due to the fact that you Beseiged the out posts until there was little resistance, and then killed the resistance... Being the face that one of our Greater Trade cities in Aden was supplying them both trade outposts plentifull.

The Roman Emissary mutters

The Great Imam babbles much, but I cannot pay attention long enough to decipher what he is saying.

turning to the assembled dignitaries

Rome would like to announce it's participation in the newly formed Western Coalition. All of Christendom has been united in the just and righteous cause of defense, and found friends and allies in the northern tribes and even the Turkish Sultanate. As this is alliance is no longer merely Christian in nature, our common geography has prompted the Roman Emperor to thusly name our great union of states.

The specific nature of this alliance is defensive. So long as the Omani tribes reverse their stated policy of enslaving the Makurian people, there shall be peace between the Western Coalition and the Golden Crescent Alliance.

I would like to personally invite the Ayyubid chair to withdraw from the Golden Crescent Alliance, and join us in our most righteous cause. With their inclusion, the entire West will finally be at peace, well poised to defend against invasion. I would like to assure the Ayyubid chair that they are welcome to decline this invitation to join in this defensive pact, and they may do so without harming our relations.

I would urge the Caliphate to distance themselves from the Great Imam Murshed, who although once a wise and capable man, has apparently gone senile in his old age and is no longer fit to lead. His diplomat's disgraceful tone, arrogant demeanour, brash candor, and insufferable boorishness have brought us all to the brink of war, and I think he likes it.

This man is a lunatic bent on plunging this entire region into total war for his own amusement. To most rational men, this would be unthinkable. But intelligence reports suggest that the Great Imam Murshed is actually part of a radical Armaggedonist sect of Islam which believes that the Apocalyse is coming, and to defeat the Christians in Africa will bring about the second coming of Muhammed the Holy Warrior, who will brandish the Golden Sword of Allah and plunge it deep inside the belly of the infidel, and bring Allah's reign upon the entire world. Ostensibly, this will create a new heaven upon this earth. That's all well and good... but...

The roman stands

...It is PURE FICTION!!! Nowhere in the Quran does it tell of the Second Coming of Muhammed by the mass murder and enslavement of African tribesmen. Nowhere does the Holy Quran say that Allah will bless those who murder in his name. Nowhere does the Holy Quran say that heaven can be created on Earth by slaughtering infidels. Nowhere does it say that Allah will praise those who cause the end of the world.

turning towards the Imam

He guises his actions as little more than the claiming of slaves and the expansion of his kingdom, but these are the rational reasons most of us would suspect for a declaration of war. He is not trying to create a grand Islamic Kingdom in africa, honoured emissaries. No, this man is trying to destroy the entire world through political alliances, diplomatic incidents, military posturing, war and conquest.

I implore all of you to reconsider your ties to this man, who through a twisted vision of Islam, seeks to destroy or enslave all of you. Join the Western Coalition in the defense of all free nations who will not bow before the insanities of an ancient and decrepit old mummy who should have been buried in the desert sands forty years ago, who now rules a vast criminal syndicate of pirates and marauders in the Indian ocrean, and commands a kingdom of thieves, bandits, slave traders, and murdering cowards.

You do not even have to join the Western Allies... simply renounce all diplomatic relations with the Imamate of Oman until such time as it is ruled by a younger, saner, and more.... sniffing the air... bathed man.

The Roman sits down and attempts to drown out the foul odor of old rotting Arab man flesh by placing a long-deceased fish against his face. The rancid stench of a rotting fish carcass smells like a garden of wildflowers by comparison.

The Great Imam just Raises a Brow at the Roman, Confused.

An african Empire...? What good would that do... We are simply talking about the Island of Suqutra that we lost due to a military force that belonged to a Marukian Army..., Even still, You may have to talk to the Marukian themselves.. as they sell there own flesh to slavery... Whne the horn of Africa was not in reach of the Kingdom of Marukia, We were simply selling tribesmen, or from people that we bought off the Kingdom of Numidia...

We frown on the Romans... The Romans since they have came here.. Have done nothing, than Insult my last Diplomatic host.... Which may have been acceptible since i.. did not know of the reasons why... But you are now Insulting the Leader of a Nation that is Hosting the Meeting himself ROMAN.... If you truely speak peace then why insult the Islamish people, Who host you!, We only treat you of the noble would, and you INSULT me... due to the fact that I am simply diplomaticly asking for better relations between the Omani's and Marukians, If your Active Imagination continues to grow Roman Diplomat I will simply ask for ANOTHER diplomat to come... It would be the 4th Diplomat...

The Old man would sigh again... shaking his head at the Roman Diplomat.

If any thing you are trying to start a War Roman..., The Ayyubid Empire and the Caliph were the two of three origional members made for the Catholic Threat... loosing territiories such as Homs to Jerusalem... Aleppo to Antioch... and the trade posts to Marukia... And now you wish to say it has never happened..? If I am correct... The Romans called the crusade against all Islam when you did that... and Please... Roman.. The Ayyubids are Holy Warriors... as they defend against the Crusaders... We are simply Trading... And if you think Peace is Senile Roman... Due to the fact that Romans are a way of war, since existance...

Then yes, I declare myself Senile for attempting to keep peace... The Romans think we are barbaric.. But have been napping in my words of saying we have NO intention of making am empire in Africa, That we are open to all brothers who can make deals with us, The Marukians are a possibility, But even a lack of Trade makes me worry about their future plans.. That is why we only simply wish to end a possible conflict with the Empire, before it causes a World War with empires... that are too far away and would simply give it an excuse to attack a random target of choice.. due to it.. So QUIET Roman... Hopefully this Marukian Diplomat, and I... can reach a peaceful Agreement while your Tongue of Lies about a culture you have yet to understand is here... For both Marukian, and the Great Imam Empire... Worry about your Declining empire first... And if you are trying to make a war, by Maniplating people around you... Have more sense like the Georgian Diplomat!, As he speaks of a wiser more noble cause than you do, seeking peace... Why does the Roman Emperor send diplomats that Insult..? Can't they find a curtious Diplomat...

If all goes well, The Marukian will still have the Horn of Africa.. And be selling not slaves, But Ivory to the market.. We can shift market to more of the Far Easter Hindu slaves that we buy and sell to the rest, Like most of the Far East Islamic Countries who wish to buy them.. So forth the Kingdom of Marukia is now making more money, which makes them able to spend more money on there trade buildings, ports, ect.. Making a more peaceful world in the Indian Ocean, and Living a better life standard with their boosted Economy... As the Omani's Trade Empire Smiles on trade between our countries, The Great Armed Merchant Fleet has destroyed the Pirate Navy off the coast on the Horn of Africa, They have been raiding tradeships from the Horn to Aden, So I am happy to say that. Trade between Aden and The Horn of Africa Is safe from pirates, and we can purely profit off this Marukian... The Marukian Kingdom can hopefully see this, Opening up their markets to the World, would bring many trade between not only just the Arabia and Africa.. but the Far East to Africa... Africa has the Potential of becoming a very worthy Trade Partner... So yes... The Trade Empire will talk further with the Marukian Alone, To calm the Imagination of the Roman, The next words that come out of his mouth is that the Great Trade empire has sailed an army off the edge of the world, and some how coming back to the coast of the Pope's Holy city Rome.. due to our Islamic Faith.. and Invading it, then enslaving it...

The old man would let a small chuckle out, and smile at the Marukian... While the Mamluk now focus on the Roman, Trying to observe if he has a weapon as well, like the Two other delegates before him, And Disarm him if he had it.. due to the past events.

Yes, The Seljuk nation has joined the Golden Crescent Confederation... They are Unsure about Neighbors.. But we wish to see that is put aside.. Seeing the the neighbors are the Kingdom of Georigia... A kingdom note worthy of their kindness and ability to think for people everywhere... Ofcourse, If these Khan Reports are true, then yes, We are prepairing for their invasion, hopefully it will be stopped.

(ooc: To make this game REALLY interesting, Let's make ATPG the Mongols... >_> lol, I'm sure he could survive longer than any of us if he played the Mongols.. and made them a REAL threat.)

A fourth Roman diplomat immediately enters the hall.

Just as he is about to speak, he looks over at the Great Imam Murshed, sniffs the air, and keels over from the stench, gasping and coughing until he draws his final breath.

Another clap, Another Mamluk would come and drag him away, sending a notice that a 5th diplomat from Rome was Needed. The messege would be also be sent with two very small cylinder like wooden nose plugs.

The Georgian diplomat looks ready to speak, but then realizes how futile it is. He just puts his head in his hands, and starts to mumble:

"Why did I have to be a diplomat, why? I could have just been a chairmaker, like my father, why did I have to go against him all the time..."

:inquisitive: im sorry but i fail to listen to you Great Imam smellshed, your stench has killed a roman diplomat, im glad im not sitting close to you, what what i heard of your borish speech when you werent dribbling and slurring was you want suaqtra from us, seening as we still here nothing of private discussion, lets get this out in the open
at the price of 100000000000000 florins, and 5 stacks of armies that you pay for, aswell as half of your trade empire, we will let you have it, and never say the makurians arent fair...
the truth of the matter is, we will retaliate to your attack, this small trade island is benifical to us, more benifical than trade with pirates that are more likely to rob and enslave from us than trade...

The Abbasid Emissary raises..

And why would you need money for 5 stack?
Just to betray the Oman and attack them after the deal?
Or you need that money to raise armies against the Ayyubids?
The Ayyubids have no interest in fighting you and that I know for sure.
Or you going to take a long long sea voyage to India with them?
I warn you Makurian.. If you start the attack against the Ayyubids you shall be all alone...
I will make sure that every ally you have gained will abandon you!
Also your money request is insane just as your demand of the half of Omani Empire..
It's clear to see that you have no diplomatic skills what so ever...
You should learn about diplomacy from some of your allies.. Perhaps you live longer then..
And I warn you again..
DO NOT attack the Ayyubids or you shall face the wrath of the Caliph!!!
The territorial dispute with the Omani is between you and them but if you go any further.....
Just remember that You have been warned!!

The Abbasid Emissary sits after the long speech...

my demands in exchange for suaqtra were a way of saying it isnt for sale, yet like a fool you take us literally, you will not turn our allies against us, simply because you have no authority, your peoples are from the caliphs? the great islamic idiot? pfft like they'll listen to an infidel like you, at least the turks see the light, and if i was ever to get 5 armies i wouldnt be attacking omanis or ayyabids, it would be your arrogant race under threat fool, why would we attack india? another race thats been targeted by slavery and you expect me to attack them, ha, we think not, the wrath of the caliphate? what will he wobble down to africa and whack us with his cane?

The Roman dignitary chimes in;

Those who would start a war between the Western Coalition and the Golden Crescent alliance are traitors to the principles this union was founded upon.

Turning to the Makurian delegate,

Tell your Makurian King that none... in fact, NONE, have spoken in defense of your freedom more vigorously than the Romans. Our alliance has stood as one and declared that the Golden ones will not trespass, will not engage, will not destroy, and will not enslave your people. The Caliph himself has personally assured me that the Golden Crescent alliance will not support Oman if they should attack you, and he has even stated that the Western Coalition may intervene on your behalf, a most GENEROUS position.

That being said, if you begin a war against the Ayyubids or escalate the conflict with Oman, you will be endangering the Western Coalition and the security and independence of its constituent nations.

You will stand down and silence your harsh tone, and this will prove your loyalty to the allies who have already risked much to defend you. I am sure this favor will not be too much of an imposition.

If Oman invades you, and you have done as your allies request, there will be no end to the assistance we will provide you. If you do not listen to your friends, however, I am afraid I can only speak on behalf of the Romans and declare that the Roman-Makurian alliance will end.

This is not intended as a threat, merely a request from your greatest friend.

Turning towards the Ayyubids

Believe it or not, the Western Coalition could use your assistance on this matter. Would you consent to a temporary alliance if Oman invades Makuria? Please contact the Roman delegation in private to discuss the details.

The Great Imam would nod slowly to the wise Roman's words.

With that said, We will futher Talk about the two settlements... And if the Trade Empire attacks, It is due that the Marukian Kingdom has made a very threatning military move or provoke in a military way against The Trade Empire or Its allies, and the Marukian's Increasing Military numbers is only making the Omani's Empire worry more about a possible invasion launched by the Marukian Kingdom..

The Roman responds;

Makuria,
We acknowledge your right to trade with whomever you want, and maintain a state-controlled and closed economy if you so choose. I would prefer openness and friendliness between neighbors, but my desires have no bearing on this meeting.

Peace in these lands depends on the resolution of this posturing and threatening between neighbors. Oman, the Makurians now have a right to the lands they occupy, just as you have a right to lands you now occupy. You have several options; trade to get their lands, be satisfied with your current borders, or take these lands in open warfare.

Remember, for the first option, Makuria would need very generous compensation, and for the last, you will need devastatingly overwhelming force to push back the forces of the entire Western coalition, and perhaps even your former allies.

Aggression will not be tolerated.

The Great Imam Sighs.

I do not understand these people... Their priorities are scrambled, Either they are starving their own people the ability to experience any new culture, goods, foods, ect... Also with this their motives are unknown... We do not know what they are planning, just watching their military grow. They Mobilize their armies in unknown desires... I would agree with the Roman Diplomat and have you open up to the Neighbors. Until then the Marukian Kingdom's threat level is High until we can find out what they are currently doing, their plans, and ofcourse the very basic in a healthy relation between nations which is trade ofcourse, I will be informing the Marukians that our Military and Naval forces will be present, In case if our thoughts are right about them, And makes an agressive move against the Ayyubid Empire or the Great Trade Empire... I hope the Marukians can understand OUR stance, and maybe agree on this, if not... How can we be peaceful when there is a real, possible threat..?

ahem...we do not want trade with certain nations as we no what you want trade in, slaves which is one thing we wont give anymore of! our peoples however will trade with many others, denying one dangerous neighbour of trade does not deny the rest of the world!

also, our armies have increased to strength our borders from attack, you assume omani, that were to attack? when the ayyabids and your own good nation are building militaries even vaster than our own? we are mearly building up as our neighbours our, as we dont want to be the blunt of an attack were not ready for, your suspicsion of our large armies is none of your business to be honest, and we dont plan to attack with them as of yet, so calm yourself before you have a heart attack...

we have not made any futher movements or shown any sign of planning an attack on your peoples, never have we steped outside of the africian area, and we plan to stay there, i hardly think our nation can be accused of forcing our place somewhere we dont belong, if that was the case then you'd be talking to the kingdom of jerusalem, they took lands that werent theres before, just as we've taken suaqtra, but we have earned these lands, any arugment over what people own is not just over me, as almost every nation is guilty of keeping land they havent orginally owned, so please give the africian threat theme a break will you

Quttub the Ayyubid emissary stands to respond to the Makurian's words. He appears to have an eye condition - his left eye is swollen, half-closed and weeping sticky goo onto his cheek, which he wipes away with a intricately embroidered sleeve every few seconds. It looks highly uncomfortable.

I can assure the Makurian ambassador that the Great Salahuddin has no interest at all in the under-developed and impoverished lands of his African neighbour.

Indeed, is it not more probable that the Makurians look on with envious eyes at the rich and fecund lands of Egypt?

If the Makurian king wishes peace with the Sultanate he shall have it - the current borders are recognised by the Sultan and his armies, and will not be violated.

Let me also put a stop to these damaging rumours of Ayyubid military buildup - the Sultan's armies are stable and further recruitment is not required. They are positioned in defensive entrenchments at certain key strategic points as is necessary for the effective defense of the realm - and they pose no threat to any of the Sultan's neighbours.

Once more, and I hope for the last time - Salahuddin has attempted to forge a peace with all of his neighbours.

It is sad indeed that the Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Makurian Kingdom rejected his offer of alliance and trade, and in the circumstances it is quite absurd to suggest that it is war that he wants!

It seems you have plenty of allies, but an offer of alliance was made by Rome towards the Ayyubid Sultanate in case of outside aggression.
