Not having played MTW2 in ages I thought I'd fire it up. Now I remember why I haven't played in a while. I keep getting that irritating SecurRom 'no disk inserted' in the drive error message. I updated the firmware and disable 'dla' but all to no avail. Looks like this cd will make a nice beverage coaster...:smash:

Any ideas?

You can download a SecuROM fix off their website I think. Its for those who have problems getting SecuROM recognizing their disks and where it causes problems like not being able to use the right mouse button without crashing and all.

Outside of that, your drive might not be supported by SecuROM.

SecurRom can be picky about a lot of stuff. You might try one of the utilities to hide something that "offends" it.

I sent one analysis log to the support site, here is the reply:

Hello.
Thank you for your email. A disc different than the one called for by the software was detected.
Please consult your software guide regarding the correct disc needed for authentication.
If the issue persists, please follow the instructions below to create a new analysis file.
1) Make sure the original disc is in your local CD or DVD drive.
2) Please re-start your computer.
3) 'Right-click' on the desktop shortcut, or the application's executable file, and a menu will appear.
4) Choose 'Launch Analysis' from the choices beneath 'Open' and release the mouse.
5) A disclaimer window may appear on your screen. To proceed, please click onto the 'Yes' button. A window stating that an Analysis log will be generated may appear, if so click OK. If an error message appears, please click Cancel.
6) The program will now generate a file named 'AnalysisLog.sr0' on the root of your hard drive (usually C:). When it finishes another window should appear stating it has finished, click OK.
7) Please 'zip' the file using a program such as WinZip, WinRAR, or WinAce (to avoid email corruption), then attach it to your email to support@securom.com.
As soon as we receive the analysis file we will know more about the problem.

I've just sent a second analysis log (and inquired about a patch) and am waiting a reply. I looked at patches for MTW2, but am unsure what one I have.


You might try one of the utilities to hide something that "offends" it.

Not sure what 'utilities' you are refering to...are they legal?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe some iterations of SecuROM get wonky when they see disc emulation software, such as Alcohol 120% (http://www.alcohol-soft.com/), Daemon Tools (http://www.daemonpro.com/), etc.

Yet another example of DRM causing problems for paying customers. When will this madness end?

Yeah, I have an NEC optical drive and apparently SecuRom doesn't like it. Just my luck...:thumbsdown:
