After the destruction of their last temple by the impostors, the few surviving monks fled to a new, more secure monastery, it's temples and passageways carved from the solid rock--

https://img265.imageshack.us/img265/8418/island1lgmh2.jpg

The practice at the old temple had been to accept new monks who showed their determination by staying outside the gates without food, water, or encouragement for three days. This test was now deemed insufficient, for it had not deterred the impostors who were drawn to the riches contained within the temple.

To protect against future attacks the council of monks banned money, jewelry, gold and any other precious items from the monastery. For the first time women were allowed within the monastery, allowing it to become self sufficient (marriage was strictly regulated by the council). No new applicants would be accepted.

With these rules in place and securely situated in their island fortress, the council rested peacefully at night. Seasons came and went on the island, the monks grew crops and brewed their rice wine. Checkers became very popular. The council was unconcerned that Dragon style was the only kung fu style still know an practiced. After all, they were completely safe from attack...

https://img218.imageshack.us/img218/182/black20pearl2022020darkkj3.jpg

One dark night, when they were all in bed...this was the name of the pirate ship that crept ever closer to the island monastery on a night that was rather moonlit actually, while at least 90% (give or take 5%) of the inhabitants lay in bed...and at least 75% of those were sleeping. It would have been more but fleas had become "something of a problem" as the head of the council had so aptly put it.

The ship gently ran up on the soft sand beach and the pirates poured over the side with a drunken roar, ready to grab all the incan gold from the sun worshiping heathens (the captain had a bad habit of letting his parrot plot their course (lil morgan never was good with geometry)). There was fighting all up and down the dimly lit passageways. Dead bodies were everywhere. Smoke filled the corridors. As dawn broke, a great ball of fire shot out of the sun and smashed right into the pirate ship (the sun god wasn't about to let lil morgan jip him out of good old fashioned setting-fire-to-people-from-on-high fun).

The fighting was shocked into silence. The silence spread thoughout the island until the head councilor made an announcement over the intercom (the ancient chinese bamboo intercom (look it up on wikipedia)).

"My children" he began

(being in complete charge of the monastery's marriage laws has it's job perks)

"My children, the sun god has spoken, and he has smited the pirates. Each day we will vote on which one of us the sun god shall smite next, and we shall continue this until all the pirates are dead"

(privately many (including the sun god) thought they should just say "smite all the pirates" and have done with it. But this is not the time to explore the shortcomings of theocratic oligarchy as a system of government).

"The smiting shall take place at sunset, and the voting shall begin at sunrise" he proclaimed, "and whosoever receives the most votes shall by smited".

And so it was.

Rules placeholder.

24 hour day, 24 hour night. Whoever has the most votes 24:00:00 hours after my post starting the day will be lynched. In case of a tie, next vote lynches.

Game starts at night.

No role pm quoting or verifying by methods like "what's the 18th letter". You can describe your role but without things that would confirm it's genuine. More fun for everybody. Dead can talk in thread, but can't pm.

No screenshots, no chatlogs, no alternate accounts.

You may vote no:lynch if you wish.

Please bold your votes. If you don't make it clear who you are voting for I might just assume you are voting for yourself.

Each player will have a kung fu fighting ability score. During the day players may be challenged to a duel. Whoever has the higher score wins. A winning player gets +1 to their fighting ability and can perform an action at night. Losers or tie-ers can't perform an action at night. It is not possible to train your ability unfortunately. The first three challenges made will be fought, challenges can't be withdrawn, no one can fight more than one fight. Number of possible challenges will decrease as player numbers decrease.

This is a mafia game and it has roles.

Rules subject to amendment in case I forgot things :sweatdrop:

Dead can talk, but not PM, so let's have a little reveal shall we?

Basically....the "mafia" just killed one of their own members. I wasnt given names of who they are, or a way to contact them. I had to convince them i was mafia, with them having no knowledge of me.

Can you clarify this? Seems a little contradictory.

I had a nice "talk" with Sasaki about it. It isnt that new but yes.

I was given the role of mafia, all I could do was vote.

"There's no mod driven event that will join you back up, but if they win you win even if you haven't rejoined."

etc.

Joining was meant to be hard, and the fun of the role. It was going to be fun...if i didnt die the first night phase...

try something different, 7 being a lucky number for most, while 6 is the devils number, the useage of techical contrast is truely evident:book:

also psychologically people are prone to break words or phrases down ie: 777 777, there fore breaking down 7 7's would perhaps be odd on the tongue ie: 777 777 ...7

Going on down the line:

makaikhaan - voted out of self-preservation, but everybody does that, so it's tough to get a read on him, my gut says innocent.
GeneralHankerchief - clearly innocent.
Crazed Rabbit - voted for me. Hasn't posted much.
pevergreen--Killed, nobody cares.
Sigurd - getting a townie read on him.
Beefy - dunno. Drunk IRL or in-game?
FactionHeir - jealous of my 1337 skillz. I bet he had a high score because clearly he's making the point that I have one.
Shlin - acting noticeably drunk. Sasaki's asked people to RP certain ways before though.
Chaotix - post more.
Lord Winter - more active than usual.
Seamus Fermanagh - meh. I think inactivity story checks out judging by lack of queue updates.
El Diablo - seems normal.
Sarathos - chronically late. This is normal though.
Pannonian - anybody home?
Omanes - I forget why khaan's after him again.

For me, this (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=2025547&postcount=54) seems like an evading the radar vote, targeting someone who is wont get lynched early on, but dressing it up as a random vote in case anyone asks why. just a note, people are all saying that such and such may have a high kung-fu score etc, but how do you no? you havent another score to compare it to, if you got a score like 20, it dont mean its the highest, as theres no way of knowing whether someone got 25, so its more or less guessing you have a high kung fu score

Alright, time to post my suspicions.

Thanks to Shlin's raving drunkenness I suspect many players have contacted him about it.
I did too as I was given the role of a lost and drunken pirate waiting to be found by the gang, so to speak. It seems a great many players have got this same role. And we know that pever and Tevash were pirates too.

I suspect that the pirates are the townie role in this game. We are the uninformed majority whilst the shaolin munks are the informed minority.
I had to read the OP several times before it dawned on me that this Mafia game objective is to rid the island of pirates. The pirates are the majority while the munks are the minority.

Since makaikhaan haven't put up a real defense against my attacks and used the deflection maneuver to try to steer the attention to a third party instead of retaliation, I believe he is was the real culprit.
And we, lost ship mates, should have a closer look at Chatorix for wanting to lynch a pirate. :beam:

Wow... big revelation here. It was starting to look fishy for me when both people who were murdered as well as myself were all drunken pirates, and shlin was also acting drunk. Great trick by Sasaki there. :laugh4:

But seriously, Sigurd, would you lynch me just for saying that I wanted to lynch the pirates? Before we all figured it out, everyone still thought the pirates were the mafia and were saying similar things. I was just tryin' ta fit in, I'm a pirate too. Plus, I even said it without making it obvious a few posts up.

Speaking of which, I'll just put it out there:
Pirates are more awesomer than Ninjas. They're totally schweet.

*******

Exonerated ...

By mine and Seamus' martyrdom, the Shaolin monks have confirmed my suspicion. They consider us a threat and thinks that removing us will give them an upper hand.
We can no longer PM, but a few players sits on most of the information I gathered.
You know who you are and it is time you gathered.

The Shaolin monks know who all the pirates are, and had the upper hand from the onset. The pirates, thinking they were mafia, tried to stay hidden and impersonate monks.
This has now been removed. Being a pirate is no longer connected to fear of being exposed.

The game has shifted momentum and it is now popular to be pirates. The monks will impersonate pirates for survival.

The game has shifted momentum and it is now popular to be pirates.
When was it not popular to be a pirate?

I find it interesting that now the Monks get two kills, whereas in all previous nights they had one. So I have to ask the question - was khaan a Doctor who happened to get very lucky twice? Can we get an answer to this khaan?

Alternately, it could be because one of the monks (Assuming there are 2 and each Monk has 1 kill) was quite inactive during the first phases and has finally rejoined the game. Is there anyone who fits this behavioural pattern?

EDIT: And thanks for the updated list.

Sarathos

Wow, double kill. I sense that the Monks are going after high ranking and highly active pirates. Since the rest of us pirates are scattered I doubt we can rally in time. I think the remaining pirates need to collaborate and quick.

Challange:Omanes, taking a stab at the inactives.

Btw, is there going to be any WOGing Sasaki?

My kung fu skill is 7 so I was assuming thats pretty highish but apparently im wrong.

As for Chaotics pirate vs ninja talk... I completely disagree. Not because i am japanese and I should like Ninjas more (I hate ninjas.. they are cheap sneaky bastards. Go samurai) but because they are simply awesome fighters in general, apparently a best martial arts fighter in the whole world according to a TV show. PLus they got throwing stars..

I shall enjoy observing the rest of this game.

For Leto has gifted his faithful with his providence once more. Leto had not abandoned his followers; indeed, he has ensured our victory over the uncouth, disparaging pirates. Only through Leto can true salvation he achieved. For only through Leto can victory come from defeat, joy from sorrow, pleasure from pain, death from life.

My theory was this:
1) Monks had 1 kill for the first 3 nights
2) Day 3 comes around, khaan is killed
3) Monks get 2 kills

So my theory was that maybe khaan was a Doctor, though of course there could be someone else who is a doctor. I'm just throwing ideas out there.

CA is also a good choice btw.
Could you care to explain to me why?

It could also be that once we figure out that it's the pirates who are the town and not the monks, the monks realise that they are now in deep s*** and are thus abled to kill two of us per turn. Sort of like Sasaki balancing out the game after we get the advantage.

Vote: Omanes

If the mafia start killing the 'big names', we have to look at the 'vets' who haven't died, and we'll likely get our answer.

I'd have thought that missed doctor opportunities would be due to wrong guesswork than dead doctors. Given the last Kung Fu Mafia game, there's also the possibility that one of the two dead was scum, who happened to attack an unkilllable target. Now I don't know if you're scum or not, and after re-reading the O2Ps, I'm still not quite sure about the game's rules, but I do know that a failed challenge will stop night actions. So,

10-09-2008, 11:48
We should be up against the Shaolin as this is a sequel of Kung Fu Mafia I. It even states that the monks had to relocate to this island.

Seeing makaikhaan's response, I think we lynched one of them. Be on the lookout for powerful duelists. Use the duels as a tool to discover the monks. Shlin should orchestrate this as he has a list of pirates from the pre-pirate reveal. Remember my FYI about makaikhaan's duel score.
You should use your strongest pirates against the most suspicious players. If the pirate lose, you might be up against a monk. But you need to hurry, right now we have the numbers to vote any monk to oblivion.

I wonder though, how the monks were able to kill two of us after we lynched one of them...

A question to Sigurd: How long have you been in contact with CR? and when did you reveal to each other about your piratiness.
I contacted him after this post:

Ha! Oh, man I wonder how many of those drunken pirates are waiting to get killed off!

CR
As you can see, he didn't make a connection between drunken and lost. It was only after I PM'ed him that he put lost into this:

Avast! I mean, er...My! How terrible!

I wonder if Rythmic was a lost pirate as well.

Woah, that will teach me to not read the last few posts on the last page.

I am most definataly a pirate.
I kept my posts in this thread very neutral on purpose - the reason being..

I thought that as a pirate I was mafia. I saw Shlin behaving in a drunken way and took a punt that he was a pitate as well. This was due to my initial pm saying all you can do now is vote in the daytime. Thus I thought that we needed to gather our group so that we could then begin to kill. Not realising that I was town. Thus I wanted to remain annonomus as Shlin was making himself a target.

Then Shlin told me that there were other pirates and I was confused. I still thought that we were mafia and even in one of my posts here stated that "Shlin must be the drunken master kung fu guru" so that people hunting pirates may have another idea as to what he was.

Yes I got the pm from Shlin telling me that FH would lead us if he was killed.

However did I EVER ask who else was pirate? If I was mafia would I not want to know?

Actually that does not make sence as the monks would know who is who would they not?

If they do then why kill off FH as well?
I MAY have been a lucky hit form the monks?

Does it matter? He is a dead pirate.
He role played a drunk and I guess either I or FactionHeir contacted him first asking him about it.
Based on the responses I got, the reluctance and the distrust, I would say he is a confirmed pirate.

I think you should have another look at CR ... He is avoiding my hidden accusation. :stare:

Well from what I can see CR seems to be like a fairly good lynch option. But then again I haven't been concentrating in this game that well because I was hosting my own:shame:

But I suppose if you are a monk wouldn't you know that pirates are the real townies? In that case wouldn't you give hints about you being drunk and all?

Also if the kung fu skills are out of 10 then what is the lowest kung fu score that player got? If us pirates are on 7-8 range would the Shaolins be on 9-10? Then what is 1-6 range for? :juggle2: There is no third group right??
