What factions do you like crushing?

I'll have to say Makedonia. The nation is basically infected with megalomany whenever you hear about them. It's always ''Makedonia is the greatest! Makedonia here, Makedonia there, Makedonia! YAY!''. I guess I just like stepping on people's toes when they tell me those toes are unsteppable. Oh, and I dislike playing as Hellenes - spears and pikes are rather boring to use, but are ideal to fight against since they're so... well, I don't know, I just don't raise an eyebrow whenever I see an elite infantry unit of spear/pikemen. And it's a lot more satisfying to obliterate units of spearmen than swordsmen. I like slaughtering Hypaspistai as well. What could be better to crush than the pride and joy of the Makedonian army?

Tho since i enjoy Kart-Hadast most of all factions to play with, i would have to vote for SPQR as most loved to crush.

As a Successor Kingdom, other Sucessor Kingdoms. Share your point of view, but with the Romans. Just so satisfying to crush the people that everyone seem to give so much praise (Much of it is rightly given, though). Also enjoy killing all the "Barbaroi" factions (Aeudi, Arverni, Sweboz, Dacia, Lusotanna) beacuse they usually have many lightly armoured troops that are easy to kill in droves.. But for most of the time, I tend to respect my enemy. Though the horse-archer way of war is outright cowardly (No, not really, just brutally clever and effective against phalanx-based armies, whom are in the centre of my heart.. Poor poor phalanxes :sweatdrop:)

I don't like crushing ANY faction.... it prevents a re-emergence later, and only proper factions are expansionist and will directly oppose my reign. If I'm surrounded by Eleutheroi, then nobody will attack me. BORING.

Oh that's so funny. Just yesterday I killed 45,000 baby-murdering Phoenicians and their smelly Numidian subjugates in a single battle with my pike army. YAY! And that's for you, King of the Numidian Hillside:

I like to smash the pointy-stick wielding dolts. I hate phalanxes. I like to cut them to little chunks with big swords.
And those "awesome" Spartan Generals? I like to time how quickly the different heavies can rip them apart. Best so far? Kluddos Lugos!

Smashing the Romans is kinda fun, too.

My armies usually have a large (3-4) archer contingent, so fighting unarmored foes isn't much fun since they die so fast before the melee that they don't have enough morale left to make it interesting.

since there is an acute shortage of lj people in EB, I prefer to slaughter germanic or gallic people. I do not like slaughtering semetic peoples (being half one myself (arab)). then again, its just a game.
just remember kids, if you want to get back at a real person, don't kill him. do like I do instead-imagine enemy factions in EB (or IBFD) as the group you don't like.:clown:

I like to crush any faction besides the beloved SPQR. But in particular, I also have to agree crushing phalanxes in deeply satisfying, especially KO, makedonia, and the ptolemies. There's nothing like surrounding a phalanx on three sides than having your cavalry due a charge from the rear, really makes my day. it is also fun to run down retreating phalagites, they're so darn slow!

SPQR. Is there anything more satisfying than obliterating the legions of what is so often called the greatest empire ever? And although I usually hate phalanxes somehow a charging into the back of a legion pinned down by a phalanx is just soo wonderful!

If I can't kill Romans Hellenes will do just as well. I got a major kick out of sacking Delphi as Carthage for some reason...

i personally like to kill phalanx pinned down against another phalanx and then a charge with barbaroi from behind or from the side(minimize the casualties of your own men) with elephantes indikoi doesn't matter if they are makedonian or ptolemoi or seleucid

I'd have to say KH and Rome are the most fun to crush in battle, nothing better than watching some Drapanai or Rhomphaiaphoroi gutting supposedly "heavy" infantry, or even Cavalry :D

It really depends on the faction I play as.

For instance if I'm the Casse then by all means I shall obliterate every last 1-2 unit force of the Sweboz beginning with their fullstacks ... after they (invariably) decide to backstab me. By that time I'll also have built up a solid dislike of Solduros and Brihentin who are going to suffer equally. Enslaving them is definitely not 'beyond' me by that time, but that could also have something to do with economy situation after duking it out in a 3 front war with like 8 provinces of my own. If the Romans have been misbehaving by crossing the Alps already or causing CTD's (<_<) then one of the things I like doing is showing them why they better had remained in Italy, instead of giving pathetic performances across the Alps -- even the now rehabilitated as they were conquered Sweboz would've been ashamed of that...

When I'm the Aedui however; the Arverni, and Sweboz better mind their manners. Of course there's simply no excuse for the existance of the Romani. The only Roman virtue is their money, which will in a very immediate future become my money because the Romans will invariably choose to betray me... Lusotannan and Carthage are so-so. If they are nice to me I will be likewise to them. If not, then not.

When I'm the Arche Seleukeia; Ptolemaioi, Pahlava and Pontos will be crushed on principle. Better safe than sorry with the Pahlava despite they're usually OK and team players. Well, they keep the Saka out alright? Pontos just needs to know when it exceeds its limits, and that's when they're foolish enough to send a half-assed assault force my way. Crushed and gone: you will never enjoy Scythed chariots so much as the moment you see one unit obliterating the 2/3rd of the enemy cavalry core; Crown and Lesser princes alike. (Though to the enemy credit, it must be said Pontos' AI was the first to have a clue what to do with sphendonetai: aiming for the chariots.) The Ptolemaioi are their usual dangerous self, which inevitably gets them removed out of my way. However, as of late I actually discovered I quite like them when suitable Force Diplomacy is applied... Must be because they're my first EB faction ever... Carthage however becomes quite annoying: making similar typical AI breaks all boundaries of meaningfull, sensible behaviour -- by sending like half their African forces my way at Kyrene. However they're not half bad; for no particular reason there will always be those Romani. Why can't Carthage just crush 'em for me, instead of having me eventually resolving the dispute by forcing Romans into protectorate status whereby they only retain Segestica and any Danube frontier province they might have?

You know what I did in a Romani campaign recently? That's right, I demolished Makedonia, who controlled all of Greece south of the Hellespont. All I controlled with Italy. Even had a 300-to-1 battle victory (killed 3k, lost 10). So you know what, Makedonia? Suck on my gladius.

Nothing like a little inter-faction rivalry, is there?

All other enemies are mere nuisances to me.

I have laid waste to their great coastal cities, I have strangled their maritime trade routes, I have filled the dry desert riverbeds with the blood of their warriors...yet they still keep coming, with seemingly infinite reserves no doubt drawn from conquered lands to the east. I am consumed with visions of their total destruction. Great Roman military generals have been forged in the cauldron of nearly endless fighting, and more will follow as surely as tomorrow's sunrise. I know that one of our youngest and brightest boys from the ruling family will ascend to the highest ranks and crush the Ptolemaics for all time.

I like fighting against the Seleukids, because early in the game they will send out huge stacks of hellenic native spearmen, which may be the weakest unit in the game imo. This leads to tiny horse archer armies of like 300 killing 3000 seleukids or something, which is always fun.

I really like fighting most factions later in the game. Currently playing a Carthage campaign, I am trying to stall and conquer everything EXCEPT Rome so that they will hopefully build up and when we do finally start to battle they will have some serious units to throw at me.

The Saka Rauka. Their armies are obnoxious to fight, and at times are nearly invincible. Further, no matter how hard you try to kill the bastards, they take yet another city. They have proven to be one of the more difficult factions to deal with, and I like difficulty.
Even now they plague the frontier, and I'm not sure my armies can stop this cancer before it spreads again.

Ptolis are sort of huntable too. Esp. in my Carthargian campaign in which they started a world war by besieging Lepki. All I can say: we got rumble in the Nile valley these days. They do have some good units.

yes they do. try not to tangle hand to hand with the basilkon Agema. they killed more seleukids in my campaigns than any other unit but the k. galatikoi (the #1 killer). and don't tangle with th k. galatikoi either.:no:

Oddly enough, as Rome I've never gone down into Africa.... I don't need it, and Carthage doesn't attack me when I confine them to the other side of My Sea..... and as Carthage, I haven't had any problems with Rome, because they have yet to take Rhegion in my current game. I consider it a demilitarized zone.

I play as the KH around 75% of the time (otherwise i'm Baktra or the Ptolemaioi)...my favorite faction to crush is definately Makedonia. They always give me hell in Attika and the Peloponessos and in the early game, i'm literally their bitch. After many years of struggling, I eventually manage to turn the table on them and take a savage pleasure in crushing them.

Then I turn my eyes west to Rome...I take great pleasure in the side quest of liberating my Greek brothers in Southern Italy, Sicily, and Massalia. I like to make Massalia my western power base where I make life hell for the Romans in Gaul. :)

Me? I like to crush whatever faction gets in my way. Currently the Roman world is at peace, though technically at war with the Saba. Makedonia-in-the-Levant is my next "aquisition", then it's raiding time to finish of the VCs. Will mark the first complete Roman game for me, ever. Though I still have yet to make the Augustans and am roughly 45-50 years from being able to do so in any case.

For some reason, I always find myself with a vendetta against Epirus. Or more specifically, against Pyrrhus and his descendants, whom I like to hunt down and kill like the dogs they are. Really, once they are out of the way (which typically involves sacking Ambrakia and Epidamnos, and sometimes Thermon), then I leave them be.

Following that, I don't really have a specific preference - although the way my current Romani campaign is going each and every battle against the accursed Aedui is hard-fought and so victories are much the sweeter. The cost in Claudii and Fabii of my Gallic wars is pretty high - all the more expensive since I'm only trying to restore the power of the Arverni somewhat to provide some balance of power and maintain my overland supply routes to Hispania. It has nothing at all to do with expanding the benefits of Roman civiliation to those over-hairy northerners...
