What is it with cellos getting used in pop music? First I hear Tricky's new track, Cross to Bear (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBPX08-pKsU), and practically the entire instrumentation is the cello. It's good, really good, but who knew about the funky power of the cello?
Then I hear this new guy, Ben Sollee (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGgJbaMTwT0&feature=related), whose entire act revolves around the bull fiddle. Weird. Good music, but weird.
Is the cello finding its place in modern pop music, or am I just reading too much into a couple of recent acts?

Dang it, I meant to post this in the Frontroom, not the Back. Could somebody help a brutha out?
