Will ships hit a map edge wall like troops did ,or will we beable to chase them for days real time like you could in Age of Sail

My hope is that they'll automatically turn around.
Unlike Imperial Glory's godawful system where they just sailed off the edge and retreated if you left them to sail in a straight line and forgot about them for more than ten seconds.
I would guess that pursuing ships will hit an invisible wall and either stop or turn around. From a gameplay standpoint, that's the option that makes the most sense.
Or, CA could just include a warning that indicates the edges of the battlemap. A message that pops up saying "Beyond this point, there be monsters"!
I kid, of course.
I would imagine we'll see the same sort of boundaries that land battles use, maybe a little more range given the sea, but most likely still small enough to force a battle.

Fix'd :laugh4:
The problem COULD be solved by ships slowing down/stopping when not given a direct move order. While not terribly realistic, it would be better than, as mentioned, IG's system where ships kept on moving no matter what direction they faced.

i like that idea, It would also make you WANT to move them back into the fight because they'd be at a huge disadvantage near the edge due to the drop in speed.

I hated that system.. I remember battles when I had 6 ships in the beginning of the battle and suddenly in the middle of the battle I found that I had only 1 ship against 6 enemy ones!! :wall::titanic:

I think having ships "disengage" off of the map edge, just like land battles, would make most sense, as long as the map was big enough. If the fleeing ships were faster than their pursuers, they should be able to run away.

Hehe "run away" that definitely invoked entertaining images...
