Looking back on it, it's pretty funny that I swore to vote for pizza on the basis of the mannerism that made him invulnerable to lynch...

I have been re-reading the thread as well. Even I am getting annoyed with the large font at this point.

I hereby declare Sasaki to be my arch-nemesis. :clown: Even when we are on the same team, we take shots at each other. :laugh4: That and our dueling lie-filled PMs to each other from the Inishmore game where I thought I finally pulled the wool over his eyes for once, but he was doing the same thing to me. We spent the whole game BS'ing each other and probably laughing it up thinking "heh heh heh heh".

I am frankly amazed that I didn't end up caving to suspicion and calling for Ganondorf's death.

Sernoserbo:

You are Mephiles the Dark, the villain of the not-so-critically-acclaimed 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog.

But despite being from a crappy game, you are still a ridiculously powerful villain. You are unsure how you came to be here. One moment you were wallowing in the eternal darkness of nonexistence, and the next you were sucked into a portal and spat out into the laboratory of that fool Dr. Eggman. What’s worse is that damned Shadow the Hedgehog is also here. Nevertheless, you are pleased at having a second chance to destroy the world using Eggman’s machine, even if it’s the same world that Eggman himself wants to rule over. That problem can be “solved” once the machine is complete and all of the traitors killed.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

Although you are ridiculously powerful, you prefer to sit back and manipulate people. You will find the enemies of the Council without the help of any of your powers, and you will like it, too.

Go then, Mephiles, and destroy your enemies with the pen, not the sword! Although you’re still unsure if you’ve ever used a pen or a sword…

Funny role PM, but Mephiles never really manifested himself in the game, because Sernoserbo tended to suffer from bouts of inactivity, and was finally given the Wrath of Kirby when I had enough of his not showing up.

taka:

You are Chaos, or the God of Destruction, as Eggman calls you.

You were called down from the heavens by the bad doctor’s machine, and for some reason, it has restored the great anger and thirst for atrocity you once had. Now the only thing on your mind is the complete and utter destruction of Sonic the Hedgehog. Because Dr. Eggman’s new machine plan may be able to help you with this task, you will assist him in finding and crushing the warriors who oppose the Council of Villains.

Your alignment is Villain

You were once completely invincible, but that was when you still had control over the Chaos Emeralds. Although severely weakened, being basically a living puddle of slime gives you more damage resistance than most other villains. You can survive a single attack from a night marauder. Lynches, however, will kill you instantly.

You are Chaos. You are Destruction. Destroy.

Chaos was one of those roles who could take an extra hit before dying. I found it pretty odd that, for some reason, taka was targeted twice in the same night, but never before than that. It certainly made for a good write-up!

Boudica/Yaropolk:

*SCREEEEEEEEEEEECH*! You are Ridley, the deadliest Space Pirate/Dragon that ever lived (and died, too)!

You are an extremely powerful warrior. You stand nearly 20 feet tall, though in your usual crouched position you are only around 15 feet. You have terrible talons and vicious fangs, and can spew flames from your maw. And, for now at least, you will do absolutely nothing to assist the Council of Villains in finding their traitors. For you like to watch them squirm, to see if they are really mighty warriors as they claim, or simply puny insects to be plucked.

Your role is Villain. (Town)

For now, you may do as you desire, although you do have a natural predisposition towards the Council. You may vote if you want, but it’s not necessary. You could make all of your posts consist of SCREECHes and ROARs if you so desire. You may want to steer clear of suspicion, as it could get you killed. Or you may not want to, if you have any idea about what happens to you after you die…

Go then, Ridley, and make your own destiny!

Ridley was a very interesting role. I was happy to give it to boudica when she was randomly chosen, because it would give her the chance to inexplicably be mafia yet again. Ridley’s whole role revolved around him dying. As a normal space-dragon, he had no abilities. Once dead, however, he would be brought back to life, assuming either Eggman or Dr. Wily, the two resident mad scientists, were still alive to work their science on him. Meta-Ridley’s role depended completely on the circumstances of his death. If he was killed by the mafia (as he was), he would be revived as a supertownie, with the ability to kill, block, or protect, and with two hitpoints to keep him alive. If he was lynched by the villains, however, the result would be nearly the same, but with one change: Meta-Ridley would instead be a vengeful Serial Killer, with all of the aforementioned abilities. This could have tipped the scales towards the mafia early on if events had proceeded differently.

Olavi:

You are Mewtwo, the only Pokemon I could conceivably consider evil for this game!

You’re not just any Pokemon, though. You’re the strongest of them all. And you’re also the smartest of them all, with an intelligence on par or greater than that of the human overlords who have enslaved your race. Indeed, you don’t see yourself as a murderer; you’re merely liberating your kin from the clutches of tyranny in the form of Pokeballs! You’ve seen the merits that this Council of Villains has, and you can use Dr. Eggman’s machine for your own purposes. But you’ll also need to get rid of those traitors…

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

But you won’t be going around killing people to get your point across. No, you have more stealthy methods of convincing the villains of your own opinion. Using your Psychic powers and “Confusion” ability, you are allowed to mess with the tally. Understandably, doing this may net you suspicion, but it’s worthless if you tell anyone about it, so use your ability carefully. If your tally is the running one at the end of the day phase and no one catches you, you have a 75% chance of convincing the Council that they truly voted that way.

A little bit of Psychic power never hurt anybody. If your own hypotheses are right, you may just wind up helping everyone with them!

Mewtwo was a role whose potential was never really realized, partly due to Olavi and partly due to some of the terribly one-sided lynches in the mid-game. The player with the Mewtwo role was essentially given a free hand to go :daisy: with the tally whenever they wanted, and to get the person they wanted lynched. In a close lynch, this ability could have been the difference between one candidate or the other. Had this role been given to a player like Reenk or ‘khaan, I am certain we would have seen some terribly confused lynches.

YLC:

You are Albert Wesker, an Umbrella Agent. But wait… are you an Umbrella Agent? Nobody seems to know where your allegiance lies.

Except yourself, of course. And in this particular situation, you have decided to work with the Council of Villains in creating their doomsday device, because it will also give you the ultimate power you dream of. You’re going to assist these creatures in finding their traitors so that they can get on with completing the machine already.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

Luckily, you’ve also brought with you a single syringe containing a variant strain of the T-Virus. Using this virus, you may revive a single villain after they have died. They will even retain enough intelligence to speak and vote again. However, these villains are large fellows, and you only have the dosage to revive one villain.

Show them the might of your virus, Wesker, and destroy the traitors.

Wesker’s a funny story: I debated giving the role to YLC simply because he was a huge Resident Evil fan (and had hosted a stellar Res Evil mafia game), but eventually decided against it based on fairness. Evidently, random.org wanted to give the role to YLC, too. I chose Wesker to be the reviver because I knew, based on the fact that there had been several games involving zombies, and the fact that I had said my game would be similar to ATPG’s Full Monty (one of those games), that people would suspect a zombie apocalypse as soon as YLC revived. In reality, Wesker was just a simple reviver role, with no added zombie effects. It was annoying when YLC was killed on the same night that he revived splitpersonality, because he had a devious plan to try and control split’s actions through claiming to be his master.

El Diablo:

You are Dr. Wily, the other mad scientist in the house.

In fact, you’re a little miffed at being brought here by Dr. Eggman. He totally stole your idea! You were minutes away from completing your own Dimensional Scrambler, stepped out for a cup of coffee, and boom! Here you are in someone else’s laboratory. But fine. You’re going to show that Dr. Eggman who the real scientist is, and complete this Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom before him! For now, you’ll have to help catch the traitors.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

Right now, Eggman may be stealing your thunder, but if he somehow meets an untimely doom, you’re pretty much the only one who can replace him. So do yourself a favor and stay alive until (if ever) that happens.

Good luck, Dr. Wily, and make sure to go completely crazy as well!

Dr. Wily was a role that never realized its potential in game. In the event of Eggman’s death, Dr. Wily would step up as the head scientist and sort of give the town a second chance. He would gain Eggman’s investigation abilities, as well as revive Ridley when he died. Unfortunately for him, El Diablo was killed before any of this could happen. Even so, Wily could still have victory even if Eggman never died.

Splitpersonality:

You are Big Boss, the man who spawned two snakes, one solid and one liquid. No wonder they call you Big Boss.

Whatever that means, you’re still a very dangerous fellow to be around. You like the ideas that this Eggman fellow has. Perhaps his machine can help you create more METAL GEARS!!!! and use them to take over your world. You’ll do what you can, therefore, to help the Council of Villains find the traitors. Maybe they’ll even let you torture them once they’re caught!

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

Additionally, every other Night Phase, starting with Night 2, you may perform some… reconnaissance duty on a single villain, to see what they are doing that night. You can do this by hiding under a cardboard box that you totally didn’t steal from your son/clone/nemesis.

Go, Big Boss, and crush the traitors… with stealth.

Splitpersonality was responsible for making the awesome sig that I display currently. In return for his kindness, I decided to give him a small gift myself. Before the game started, I allowed Split to pick the character that he wanted from the list. Of course, he couldn’t have possibly known which ones were mafia, so it was mostly an aesthetic choice. He got somewhat lucky with Big Boss in that it was a role with an ability. Overall, split played a very good first game.

Big Boss was the counter role to King Boo- he the other Action Investigator, allowed only to search on even nights. I consider the write-up where split dies to be the point where my write-ups really started to pick up in quality- while this one didn’t have any flat-out humor, it had a sort of artistic irony. Big Boss makes his investigation, witnesses all sorts of kills around him, and finally makes it back to his room relatively unharmed- only to find another killer waiting inside! When split was revived as the King Cobra, I beefed up his ability- he now could investigate every night, had a 25% chance of taking down a killer with him, and failing that would paralyze the killer with poison. I was happy to, in effect, create my own villain, but annoyed because my artistic skills weren’t good enough to portray him visually.

TheMarioKarters/Glenn:

You are King Dedede, an obese, hammer-wielding penguin, and a recurring villain of the Kirby series.

You don’t know who these other villains are, but this Dr. Eggman guy seems to be offering to help you, and feed you for free. And King Dedede never turns down free food! Not only that, but it seems they’re gonna help you finally catch that there Kirbah, so you can be the undisputed King of Dreamland. Needless to say, you’ve got a lot at stake here, and you don’t need no traitors messin’ it all up fer ya!

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

You can also use your massive girth to be of service to the Council. Every Night Phase, you may block the actions of a single villain, rendering them immobile and incapable of using any abilities they may or may not have had.

Go, Dedede, you catch that there traitor, got it?

Dedede was the town’s original roleblocker, and had amazing roleplay potential, too, if anyone cared to try. Notice the subtle mafia hint, too? TheMarioKarters annoyed me continually by showing up four phases late to post an expletive, and then only returning to effectively make fun of himself by reposting the line that Sasaki edited his post into. Then, I gave the role to Glenn, who had died early on. While Glenn was active, he managed to get himself banned. I decided to WoG him and put the tortured role to rest, although I admit at the time I didn’t know the ban was only for one or two days. I apologize to Glenn in that respect, but it’s still generally not a good idea to get yourself banned when you’re in two mafia games.

Quintus.JC:

You are Giygas, a psychic, psychotic alien, and the main villain from Earthbound.

All around you… there are creatures of hate… immense hatred fills the laboratory… and you thrive on this. You yourself are not a mere alien life form, but a psychic being capable of controlling minds and causing even more hatred and evil. But there are some in this place who want to stop all of this. Not only that, but without the mad scientist’s help, you won’t be able to return to the planet you’ve conquered to spread terror.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

These other villains talk about lynching their comrades because they cannot tell who the traitor is. You cannot, however, condone the destruction of any evil being, because they are a part of you. All evil is a part of you. Instead, in your votes you will convince others not to vote for a particular villain, and so influence the lynch in that way. When you vote, please use “Devote: Chaotix” or “Antivote: Chaotix” – this will help distinguish it as a vote against instead of a vote for.

Do your best to preserve the evil in this place, Giygas… no matter what it takes.

Giygas was the last of the three roles with the ability to manipulate votes in a specific way (Ganondorf and Mewtwo being the others). Giygas’ odd ability to vote against lynch instead of for it was useful in some cases, and less in other cases, much like the standard ability of voting itself. It provided the town with a way to save a player who was close to being lynched, without necessarily condemning the other candidate. In the one-sided votes during the mid- and late-game stages, Quintus’ negative vote didn’t have a whole lot of use. Nevertheless, Quintus played a very good game given his odd role.

pevergreen:

You are the great King K. Rool, a huge, portly crocodile, the ruler of all Kremlings, and the arch-nemesis of Donkey Kong.

You are happy to help Dr. Eggman and the Council of Villains complete their doomsday machine. It saves you the trouble of ordering your own subjects to build one for you, and it also keeps you from having to think. You don’t like to think. It gives you a headache. In fact, you don’t really have to do much of anything while you’re here. Just watch out for the traitors, “help” the Council find them, and soon you’ll have a shiny new death ray to fire at DK Island, after the burning of which you can steal the Golden Banana Hoard for your own… nefarious purposes.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

You are encouraged to roleplay as your character- it is not necessary, but it will make the game much more fun. Act as if you are extremely lazy and can hardly be bothered to vote, try to blame your own mistakes on other players, and tell them what to do constantly. You may wind up looking suspicious, but it’s all part of the role!

Find the traitors, K. Rool. Or don’t. It’s all the same to you.

King K. Rool was a basic villain role with no abilities. Notice that even if a role didn’t have an ability, I still tried to make it fun to play as through roleplaying. I was worried that players without abilities might become bored, given that about half of the roles did have abilities. pevergreen played well, but died early on, unfortunately.

TheFluffyOne:

You are the Count Dracula, lord and sire of all other vampires. Your dark power is immense.

And yet, you can never seem to avoid being sealed away by the Belmont clan. Perhaps this Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom will allow to wipe out their lineage forever, and to destroy their vampire-killing whip. You will do what you can, then, to assist these mortals in creating the machine and defeating the traitors to the Council.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

You can also use a certain… ability of yours to transform one villain into a vampire, should he be slain by the traitors. Use this ability wisely, however, because you really don’t want a whole pack of these disgusting creatures vampirized and following you around. You’re only willing to use this power once, and as a last resort.

Fill their hearts with dread at your sight, Dracula!

Again, I chose Dracula to be the other reviver besides Wesker because of the connection to the undead. I hoped one of their revivals would create a zombie scare. ATPG came very near to lynching Beefy on a few occasions because he thought he might be a zombie. Fluffy played well, if a bit spammy at times. He was certainly better than his predecessor General Specific, who refused to even empty his PM box to receive the role PM!

Beefy:

You are the Black Knight, a fierce warrior encased in dark armor, and a recurring villain in the Fire Emblem series.

You are unsure what kind of strange magic may have brought you here, but you are certain that it can only assist your goals. The Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom will allow you to destroy Ike and the Greil Mercenaries. You, being nearly invincible inside your armor, have decided to do everything you can to help the Council.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

Every night phase, you are able to defend one other villain from harm. This will keep them from being killed, but also from being investigated or blocked, so be careful that you do not conflict with other villains while you protect.

Show the traitors the true power of a dread knight!

Beefy was lucky enough to be investigated by Khazaar on the first night. This somewhat relieved the fact that there was originally only one defender role, because now the Black Knight would become very good friends with Eggman, protecting him nearly every night. Beefy even died, was revived as the Headless Knight, and continued to defend Eggman until the end. He was another instrumental player in the town’s victory- without him, Khazaar would have been dead several times over.

Yoyoma:

You are the magnificent Gruntilda the Witch,
A beautiful woman, if a bit of a bitch.
Twice you’ve battled a bear and a bird,
And with this machine you’ll be back for a third.
You like the ideas that this Eggman guy has,
And you’ll help him and try not to look like a spaz.
You’ve got nasty spells, and your alignment is (Town) Villain-
So that means there’s some traitor blood to be spillin’.
There’s just one little thing more you must do this time:
All of your posts must be spoken in rhyme.
And with that, fair Gruntilda, I bid you goodbye,
I know that your hardest you’ll certainly try.

Yes, Gruntilda had a unique little role PM, composed of rhyming couplets. I offered this role to Yoyoma because of his awesome roleplaying in Resident Evil and other games I played with him. He did an excellent job with the difficult task he was given- to make all of his posts rhyme, as Gruntilda speaks. I am concerned he may have gotten bored around halfway through because he didn’t have an ability, too- In retrospect, I probably should give abilities in the roles that I offer out to players do that they don’t feel ripped off, even if I don’t give them mafia roles.

Sasaki (original):

You are General RAAM, the commander of the Locust horde, and the main villain of Gears of War.

The completion of this Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom will certainly allow you to crush the ground-walking humans that have become an infestation on your planet. That will make the Queen very happy, and you live to serve your Queen. While you are here, then, you will help the creatures to destroy the traitors.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

You are encouraged to roleplay as your villain- while not necessary, it will certainly make the game more fun. Try posting in all caps, and make numerous references to the impending doom of the “Ground-Walkers”. Just try very hard to sound really evil.

General RAAM must crush the traitors. General RAAM will crush the traitors.

Standard, no ability townie for Sasaki the first time around. He didn’t last very long, and Sasaki was soon put back into play for Warman’s original role, for which I was very grateful. I wonder how Sasaki might have turned out if he lived on as RAAM throughout the game.

Ichigo (original):

You are Black Shadow, a despicable F- Zero racer and the enemy of Captain Falcon.

The power of the Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom will certainly allow you to kill Captain Falcon, and take the F- Zero championship for yourself. For this reason, you have allied yourself with the Council of Villains and will assist them in destroying the traitors. Apparently, building a better racecar didn’t occur to you.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

You are encouraged to roleplay you character- while not necessary, it will make the game experience more fun. Act overly ominous and important, and as if winning the F- Zero championship amounts to the same amount of evil as any of the deeds the other villains have committed.

Soon, dominion over the racetrack will be yours… and after that… THE WORLD!

Yes, there were even allusions to Black Shadow’s more comical nature in his role PM. With Ichigo’s usual spamminess, I figured this may have turned out well- unfortunately, he was the third lynch, for really no reason. The write-up was very well received, though!

Glenn (original):

You are Orochi, a mythical eight-headed Japanese dragon, and one of the main villains of Okami.

Your dark power is great. However, if Amaterasu, the white wolf, returns to destroy you, even that power will not be enough to stop him. This Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom could very well give you the power you need to destroy Amaterasu once and for all and plunge all of Nippon into a cursed darkness. For this reason, you have decided to help the Council of Villains in ridding itself of the traitors.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

You are encouraged to roleplay as your character- while not necessary, it will add to the game experience and make it more fun. Have your eight heads constantly in argument with each other over who to vote for; say you should get eight votes because you have eight minds; your role could be potentially hilarious if you play it right.

Go, Orochi, and make a meal out of those traitors!

Glenn’s original role as Orochi, before he took King Dedede. Glenn did a splendid job of roleplaying Orochi in the beginning; it’s a shame that it led to so much suspicion of him. Additionally, although you may not have noticed, there was a botched attempt to contact Glenn by the Guild of Antiheroes, although he was not recruitable in the first place. White_eyes managed to turn a mistaken PM into a cause for a lynch of Glenn, and helped to have him lynched on the second round.

The Antiheroes

Jolt:

You are Wario, the rival of Mario, the star of your own series, Wario Land, and even the creator of the hit video game series WarioWare. You’d like to think of yourself as an overall celebrity.

Initially, you were overcome with joy at the thought of living without your arch-nemesis Mario because of the Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom. Then you realized, however, that without Mario you would have no one to push around or steal things from, except Luigi, who’s a total wuss anyway. Plus, with Bowser in control of the Mushroom Kingdom, he might try to take away all your money and treasure, and that would make-a-Wario very angry.

You found a bunch of other villains who were in a similar predicament, and decided to form a group, the Guild of Antiheroes. Once the threats to the villains were destroyed, you would kill ‘em all, and blow-up their machine just to be all badass and stuff, cause that’s what Antiheroes do.

Your alignment is Antihero. (Neutral)

The other Antiheroes are Shadow, the Arbiter, Meta-Knight, and Golbez; you will need to find them first before you can convene. Additionally, there are two other Antiheroes who are still having doubts about being a true villain. If you find them and convert them, they will be added to your ranks. Just be careful not to give yourself away in doing so… or it could end very badly for the Guild if you try to convert the wrong person.

White_Eyes:

You are Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic’s greatest rival and a powerful fighter in your own right as well.

You were not brought here by the Interdimensional Scrambler, as in fact you already live in the same dimension as Dr. Eggman. No, you came to Eggman’s laboratory of your own accord, on a spying mission from GUN. Needless to say, you have worked with Eggman in the past, and he seems to trust you. Use this misplaced trust well, because you will need it to complete your true mission.

Your job is this: keep a low profile and observe the antics of the villains. You are not a true villain yourself, and you don’t want Sonic dead, however annoying he may be. You can even help the villains catch their little traitors if you want for the time being. You found a bunch of other villains who were in a similar predicament to yours, and decided to form them into a group, the Guild of Antiheroes. Once the threats to the villains were destroyed, you would kill ‘em all, and blow-up their machine just to be all badass and stuff, cause that’s what Antiheroes do.

Your alignment is Antihero. (Neutral)

The other Antiheroes are Wario, the Arbiter, Meta-Knight, and Golbez; you will need to find them first before you can convene. Additionally, there are two other Antiheroes who are still having doubts about being a true villain. If you find them and convert them, they will be added to your ranks. Just be careful not to give yourself away in doing so… or it could end very badly for the Guild if you try to convert the wrong person.

Psychonaut:

You are Golbez, a knight in dark armor and one of the main villains of Final Fantasy IV.

Or at least, you were one of the main villains. As it turns out, you were really only under the control of an even more powerful enemy, and you’re not that bad inside, despite the fact that you still like to kill things. Nevertheless, it seems that the Interdimensional Scrambler still pulled you here with all of the other villains.

You could personally care less about these villains and their traitor problems. You can help them if you want, but for now your goal is simply to stay alive and avoid suspicion until the problem resolves itself. After all, the longer this takes the less of these fools you have to kill yourself. Fortunately, you found a bunch of other villains who were in a similar predicament to yours, and decided form a group, the Guild of Antiheroes. Once the threats to the villains were destroyed, you would kill ‘em all, and blow-up their machine just to be all badass and stuff, cause that’s what Antiheroes do.

Your alignment is Antihero. (Neutral)

Just be careful not to give yourself away in doing so… or it could end very badly for the Guild if you try to convert the wrong person.

Good luck Golbez, and redeem yourself for your sins.

GeneralHankerchief:

You are Meta-Knight, a fierce star warrior, the arch rival of Kirby, and possibly the smallest thing that could ever be deemed “badass”.

But you are not a villain. No, you might easily be mistaken for one, which is probably why you were brought here by the Interdimensional Scrambler, but you really fight for the good of Dreamland, even if you sometimes disagree with Kirby’s own methods. Fortunately, you should easily be able to blend in with your unnaturally deep voice and menacing bat wings.

Your alignment is Antihero. (Neutral)

You want to get rid of all of these villains, but the traitors have provided a welcome diversion, and you can wait until they’re dead before you start to finish the job. You found a bunch of other villains who were in a similar predicament, and decided to form a group, the Guild of Antiheroes. Once the threats to the villains were destroyed, you would kill ‘em all, and blow-up their machine just to be all badass and stuff, cause that’s what Antiheroes do.

navarro:

You are the Arbiter, an elite warrior of the Covenant’s highest order.

Or, at least, you used to be, until the Prophets deemed you an outcast. What you see in these fools is exactly the same thing you saw in the Prophets: a lust for power. If left to complete their machines, it is very likely that they will create their own empires of terror, much like the Covenant has. However, killing them all where they stand would be a difficult task- they are not weak like mere humans.

You alignment is Antihero. (Neutral)

You found a bunch of other villains who were in a similar predicament, and decided to form a group, the Guild of Antiheroes. Once the threats to the villains were destroyed, you would kill ‘em all, and blow-up their machine just to be all badass and stuff, cause that’s what Antiheroes do.

Go, then, Arbiter, and show them the true might of an Elite!

And then the recruitable ones:

Captain Blackadder:

You are Wolf O’ Donnell, the leader of team Star Wolf, the greatest rival Star Fox has ever faced.

You are unsure about this whole Council of Villains idea. You don’t necessarily want to destroy your own world, per say, but rather to make profits off of it as a hired killer. Although you would certainly like to see Fox and his stupid friends dead, it’s a little pointless if you’re not getting paid for it in the first place. But you’re not going to complain. Ruling the world would be nice, after all.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

At least, for now you’re a villain. You’ve got no reason to fight against these fools and their traitors, so you may as well help them if you’re in danger yourself. If someone were to offer you enough to take a different side on the conflict, you’d probably take the deal. You are a mercenary.

Destroy the traitors, Wolf, so you can get back to bounty hunting already.

Greyblades:

You are Magus, the Fiend King, and the main villain from Chrono Trigger.

But you were not always a villain. While Chrono and his friends view you as an enemy, your true goal is to destroy the great evil that is poised to destroy the world at 2000 AD, 7000 years after you were born and 1400 years after the time you live in currently. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to like Chrono. And this machine that Dr. Eggman is creating could very well give you the power to destroy the evil force. So for now, you are content to work with the Council of Villains in destroying the traitors in their ranks.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

For now, do your best to assist the villains in stopping all of the threats towards them. It is very possible that they will prevail and you will gain the power you need to destroy the great evil. Perhaps, if you were feeling generous to the universe, you would come back and destroy them too. But unless someone else is able to persuade you to take a different side, you’re going to stick with the villains.

You are an arch-mage of great power. Do not let anything stop you.

The Antiheroes 'Secret Lair' (http://www.quicktopic.com/43/H/VRDgYctVHCcVb)

The Antiheroes faced some incredibly bad luck in this game. I mean, seriously, there were five of them to begin with, and seven potentially, and four of them were killed off by Night 2. It's remarkable that navarro survived to become the new mafia at all. By all logic, they should have probably had at least two or three members remaining by the time it was their turn to strike at the villains. The mafia (and khaan) just seemed to have some uncanny knack for knocking them off instead of the two dozen or so other players they had to choose from. It's pretty crazy that most of the players with abilities survived late into the game under the watch of the mafia to begin with, but that's a different story.

They were basically the Stonecutters from The Full Monty, minus the abilities and plus two recruits. They didn't know who each other were- they had to find each other manually. This was made easier by the fact that each one was clearly not a villain in the traditional sense, if anyone did the research on their character.

The Guild's bad luck began when Gobbledygook killed Jolt on the very first night. That was tough, but they could cope with it, at least. GH and white eyes, the two most active Antiheroes, set out to try and find the recruitable ones. They role-fished on Glenn in the beginning because of his relatively strange roleplaying, and during this (I learned this only because of my access to the quicktopic) white eyes went into a frenzy because he accidentally sent a pm to Glenn that was meant for GH. Needless to say, Glenn was now suspicious, and so the two came up with a cover story of an artificial "Guild of Roleplayers", which was really only a group of players who wanted to get all of the others involved in roleplaying.

Glenn remained suspicious, and so white eyes tried and succeeded in getting Glenn lynched because he was a perceivable threat. On night two, both GH and white eyes were killed. White eyes was made to kill himself by Dimentio, who raided his mind, found out he was an antihero, and decided he was a dangerous threat. Additionally, Greyblades was killed off too. At this point I was feeling particularly sympathetic towards the Guild, and so I allowed Greyblades access to the quicktopic to help out. This turned out to be a bad mistake on my part, because now Greyblades, bored out of his mind, was unable to rejoin as a replacement due to him knowing who the other three Antiheroes were. I apologize for this, and I felt really bad about essentially accidentally screwing Greyblades over, especially because he was never recruited.

After Psychonaut was killed off, I decided that the remaining two should at least be given some survival abilities, so I gave navarro and Blackadder each a 50% kill defense (I say 40% in the thread but I changed my mind.). Blackadder was still killed, but it did help navarro immensely, as he managed to survive two kills by Sephiroth on that 50%.

I am still surprised that nobody managed to figure out that there was a secret group until after navarro was lynched. In the same way that the mafia flocked to kill them, the villains and investigators avoided the Antiheroes like the plague. Who knows? Perhaps in a different game the Antiheroes would have taken the town completely by surprise, and destroyed them.

Well, Fahad had better not catch me in the same game as him with me being Mafia.

I was seriously pissed off for being killed so early on.

The Traitors

In order of appearance...

A Very Super Market:

You are Dimentio, a psychotic jester and the true villain of Super Paper Mario.

You are smarter than most of these fool villains who seek only to rid their own worlds of their arch-nemeses. No, you see the true value in this Eggman’s Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom. You will use this machine for the same purpose that you had when Mario and his friends last foiled you: to conquer the whole universe, and instate yourself as its overlord! The mysterious killing last night has given you the opportunity you need, but it has also put a thorn in your side- you now know that there are others who have the same purpose as you. Now, that just won’t do. You will have to keep killing until you’re the last one breathing.

Your alignment is Mastermind. (Serial Killer/Controller)

Now, killing these fools in person is something you are completely capable of doing, but it’s just not your style. Plus, you might draw attention to yourself. Instead, using your mastery over time, space, reality, and your psychic and psychotic power, every night you have the ability to take over the mind of a villain. This villain will do whatever you want him to do- he could kill someone, he could kill himself, he could even investigate someone for you, if that’s what you want. Experiment with the possibilities. You’ll also retain control over him during the day phase, and he won’t be able to speak or vote. If you want, you can make it painfully obvious that it was him who’s been doing the killing. But be careful with who you try to control, because there are some villains here whose power can match your own- you don’t want to mess with those ones.

Now go, young super villain, and kill all these fools- with style.

Oh, and watch out for Luigi. You know he’s here… you can sense his presence.

Long role PM, there. That’s because there was a lot of stuff to cover in there. You can see the very clear reference to Luigi- it was important for Dimentio to know that, for reasons soon to be discussed.

Dimentio, I imagine, probably would have been the most fun traitor to play as out of all of them. For one thing- to anyone who has played the game he hails from, he is a villain who betrays the other villains. So he’s constantly in a precarious position with someone like, say, ATPG, who has incidentally played nearly every Mario game there is. But of course, that’s all just WIFOM and unreliable info, and you shouldn’t believe a word of it!

But anyway, Dimentio had some incredible powers. First- he gets to raid someone’s mind (essentially an investigation in itself) and take control of them. The first time he did it, he even got an immediate action. After that, he would have to wait for the next night to act. These actions ranged anywhere from killing someone, committing suicide, or using an ability the player had.

I had a system worked out where, based on the intelligence or mind strength of each villain, Dimentio would have a certain number or phases (days and nights separate) to control him before he started to break free. Then a series of random.org trials would determine whether the player broke free or not. These numbers could range from 0 to 5, usually. I never got to really use the system, though, because both times Dimentio controlled, it was cut short (first by AVSM killing white_eyes, next by him being lynched).

During the Day Phase, Dimentio could have sent me instructions on what to say or vote, which I would then forward to the player. The controlled player wouldn’t be able to do anything but what he dictated to them, for as long as they were under control.

If Dimentio managed to gain control over Luigi, it would have triggered a special scenario. Luigi would be transformed into Mr. L, his mind-controlled alter ego, and he would effectively “join” Dimentio, creating a “family” of sorts, with Dimentio as the head. Dimentio would be free to control still, while Mr. L would continue killing and speaking in the thread as usual, but under Dimentio’s name. If Mr. L died, Dimentio would continue as normal, but if he won Mr. L could still claim victory. If Dimentio died, however, Mr. L would become Luigi again, and rejoin the “Hero family”.

I was dissappointed that Dimentio was killed off early, but that's how mafia games are. There were still several other awesome victory scenarios to be chosen from.

------------------------------------------

shlin:

You are Kirby, the hero of the Kirby series.

When Eggman activated his dimensional scrambler, you were in the middle of a fight with King Dedede, and you were sucked into the vortex as well. You quickly swallowed the first villain you saw, Nightmare, and took his powers. You are now disguised as him, wearing his armor and helmet, and despite the obvious size discrepancy, no one has seemed to notice that Nightmare is any different from before. You must prevent the Council of Villains from creating the Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom, or else your world and all the others will be destroyed, conquered, or mildly inconvenienced.

Your alignment is Hero. (Mafia)

Your special ability is this: Using your own abilities and the powers of Nightmare, you are able to slay one villain every night phase, until none of them are left. Additionally, you know that you saw Luigi when you were first brought to this place, but he has presumably taken a disguise as well. If you find him, you will be able to team up and coordinate your kills each night. Just be careful that you don’t mistake the wrong villain for Luigi in disguise. Once all the villains are dead, the universe will finally be safe from their evil.

Go, young puffball, and smite the evildoers. The fate of the universe rests on you.

And his cover role:

Nightmare:

You are Nightmare, a fierce warrior of darkness. Or, rather, you are the sword that this warrior wields, Soul Edge, which has consumed his mind and body.

Ultimate power is certainly very appetizing to you. You like the ideas of this foolish scientist Dr. Eggman, and will assist him in ridding the laboratory of traitors, at least until his machine is complete. Once the Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom is activated, however, you’ll use that immense power to harvest every soul in this room. But for now you will be very cooperative. No one needs to know about your secret plans… and you probably won’t get to use them at all over the course of this “adventure”.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

You are encouraged to roleplay your character- it is not necessary, but it will probably be hilarious and will certainly make the game more fun. Constantly talk about your hunger and need for souls, and post in all caps if you want.

SOULS… YOU NEED MORE SOULS!

You may wonder why I chose Kirby and Luigi instead of the standard Mario, Link, Sonic, etc. to counter Bowser, Ganondorf, Eggman, etc. Well, that is exactly why I chose them- because you expected Mario, Link, and Sonic, or something similar to that effect.

Kirby was just for the sheer hilarity factor of a pink puffball killing big, tough villains. When I knew I was doing comedic write-ups and a light-hearted kind of game, instead of heavier, more serious material, I knew I had to use Kirby for the eventual lynch write-up. The fact that he popped out of some badass dark knight armor made it funnier, in my opinion.

As you can see, the two heroes also had the disadvantage of not knowing who each other were. It was perfectly possible for them to win the game without ever teaming up- they were still on the same side, regardless. If they found each other, they would receive a quicktopic, and the obvious advantage of being able to coordinate kills, and also the ability to team up for kills- in this way, they could completely bypass defenders, and still have two kills per night.

They didn’t have to find each other through PM and role-fishing, either. If one targeted the other for a kill, it would be negated and the two alerted to each other’s presence; the same would occur if both attacked the same target in one night.

With Kirby killed, shlin could have still had victory if Gobbledygook managed to kill all the villains. This is why he continued trying to confuse you way after he was dead- in reality, neither of them knew about the other until after shlin was dead, and even then I didn’t reveal Gobbledygook to shlin.

--------------------------------------

LittleGrizzly:

You are Kefka, an insane jester, demi-god, and the main villain of Final Fantasy VI.

All of these poor fools will regret calling you to this hellhole. You don’t need this stinking machine of death, you’ve already destroyed your world and killed all of those who want to kill you. You’ve made yourself a god, and should be reigning terror over your world, and making insane cultists build statues of you, not listening to these idiots talk about traitors. That traitor had the right idea. He wants to kill everyone here. You should kill all of these stinking morons, too. And the traitor as well. You don’t like traitors. What a magnificent idea you’ve come up with!

Your alignment is Demi-God. (Serial Killer)

Each night, you may kill one of these fools who call themselves the Council of Villains. You should also act helpful towards this pathetic council so that they don’t suspect you of murdering them. Although you could certainly kill each and every one of them where they stand, it’s much more enjoyable to surprise them in their slumber and torture them to death instead.

Go, Kefka. Kill and kill until you are the last one standing.

Kefka was probably the hardest out of all the traitor roles to win with, mostly because he had nothing special going for him: no allies, no controlling abilities, no nothing- he was just a standard serial killer, and he didn’t have a cover role, either.

On the other hand, he could have used his apparent insanity as a cover, or claimed to be a vigilante- you saw how far that got khaan, after he was converted. If, by chance, he managed to kill another traitor (and he did have priority over the others), he might have been able to gain their power and an extra kill each night.

As it was, LittleGrizzly played a very good game, and might have even survived had he not been investigated by Khazaar. Sasaki was on to him at that point, but ATPG was also distrusting of Sasaki, a fact that could have provided an opening for LG to stay alive.

Oh, and by the way- every time I used a clown smiley in the thread when responding to questions, that was a clue towards Kefka. And really Dimentio, too. They were both psychotic jesters. :clown:

----------------------------------------

Gobbledygook:

You are Luigi, the forgotten and less popular Mario brother, who is constantly the subject of jokes and ridicule. Nonetheless, you still maintain a good relationship with your brother, and could never be considered a villain.

Why, then, are you here, amongst a Council of Villains? Well, you have no idea yourself, but since you’re here, you’ve decided to overcome your characteristic cowardice, and upstage Mario by beating every last villain in this place. Yes, you were the one that killed Cackletta, and now you are disguised as her: you’re used to wearing women’s clothing for some reason. You left her as a bloody, indistinguishable mess in the middle of the laboratory. You must regain your honor by saving not only your world, but every other world from the Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom.

Your alignment is Hero. (Mafia)

Every night, you may slay one of these villains using your heightened reflexes and superior combat skills, as well as with Cackletta’s magic. Additionally, you seem to recall seeing Kirby here in the chaos that occurred when you first arrived, but he must have disguised himself as well, and even your trained eye can’t pick him out amongst the villains. If you find him, you will be able to team up and coordinate your kills each night. Just be careful that you don’t mistake the wrong villain for Kirby in disguise. Once all the villains are dead, the universe will finally be safe from their evil.

Go, Luigi. Punish them all. No longer will you be the forgotten brother!

And his cover role:

You are Cackletta, a powerful witch and the main villain of the game Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.

After having your plans to take over the Beanbean Kingdom foiled by Mario and Greenie, you now have to find another way to defeat them. Thus, you have decided to assist this Eggman person in creating his Super Vague Weapon of Ambiguously Decided Doom. You must do all that you can to catch the traitors.

Your alignment is Villain. (Town)

Additionally, you are encouraged to roleplay as Cackletta throughout the game. There are a number of humorous quotes by her if you use a simple Google search.

Luigi was the most flexible of the traitors. I picked him because of the intended shock value when the red-text speaking plumber-like killer turned out to be him instead of his brother. I think it still turned out well, and making fun of Luigi is always hilarious, no matter what the context is. By the way, the fact that he dresses up as a woman is not a mistake, either...

In addition to that, he also made a nice connection to Dimentio if he was chosen to be controlled- then, as explained, he would switch sides, for as long as Dimentio survived, to become Mr. L.

Luigi was put in the same boat as Kirby, otherwise: he would be encouraged to find Kirby and gain the benefits of teaming up.

Gobbledygook did a good job remaining unknown for a long time, although he was also absent during some phases due to internet issues.

-------------------------------------------

Seireikhaan:

You are Sephiroth, the main villain of Final Fantasy VII.

You are unsure why you have been brought to this place. Surely you do not need some machine’s help to kill that pathetic Cloud Strife. Still, you see in the other villains here that they are not so different from yourself, despite being infinitely weaker. Surely they must be the ones who need help here…

Your alignment is Villain (Town)

You have decided that nothing will get done if the Council has to sit around and vote on who they think the traitor is every day. You yourself, being all-powerful, will take matters into your own hands and crush whoever you believe is the traitor during the night. And if you happen to be wrong- which surely you won’t be- then you can just kill someone else the next night. A few dead weaklings are sometimes needed to spur on the growth of the rest… and you have no qualms about killing.

Destroy the traitors, Sephiroth. You don’t need anyone else’s help.

Sephiroth did indeed begin as a vigilante. Khaan did a remarkable job of killing off a bunch of Antiheroes before they could betray the Council, but other than that he never caught any traitors. When LG was killed, Sephiroth suddenly became part of the “Great Balancing Act”.

This act consisted of three parts. First, ATPG would be put out of commission and unable to pm or protect Diana after the lynch of a traitor. Second, Khazaar gained a risk of dying with every investigation he made. Finally, Sephiroth was terribly scarred in the write-up, and to represent this, I sent a pm to ‘khaan, allowing him to choose whether to stay with the Council, or to betray them from the inside out.

I did note that staying with the Villains would probably be much easier, and in the long run, it seems that it would have, with only navarro and Gobbledygook left at that time to oppose them. Nevertheless, ‘khaan decided he wanted to be mafia- it was an offer he couldn’t refuse.

After becoming a serial killer, ‘khaan did a very good job of remaining innocent looking. It was a combination of the write-ups, which showed him as being more unpleasant than usual, and the ambiguous investigation that ATPG picked up on that defeated him in the end. If Khazaar hadn’t shared the PMs, though, he would have continued to consider khaan innocent- he may have been able to hang around for another few rounds.

-------------------------------------------

And that's that. Before I go, I'll mention that I did forget one role pm- it was Dark Samus. I seem to have misplaced it and it's not in the file, but the player never even showed up and was WoG'ed. It was only a standard town role, anyway.

A few fun facts:

The file that contains all the write-ups, roles, and other info like action pms is gigantic.
It spans 120 pages,
and contains upwards of 36,000 words.

My favorite parts of the game:

- Laughing my :daisy: off as white_eyes accidentally sends a pm to Glenn intended for GH, and white_eyes and GH frantically search for a plausible lie to keep Glenn from knowing they are Antiheroes- all on Day 1, viewed through the Antihero Quicktopic.
- Screwing with ATPG’s head using the “Wall of Periods”.
- The Dimentio Write-Up
- The Kirby Write-Up
- LG claims that he has a super vote- that it counts for 5, and it’ll overturn the town’s vote. He pulled this completely out of his :daisy:, and everyone completely believed him. ATPG will go on to warn the town throughout the game to be decisive so they don’t run into a “LittleGrizzly situation”.
- The Kefka Write-Up
- The Luigi Write-Up
- Navarro blows it by saying he has no abilities. Honestly, claiming the 50% death resistance that he did have would have saved him a lot of trouble and made him look innocent.

Waste of time. The game's over, and these role PMs are on the last two pages of this thread anyway. Putting them in the summary thread would only take forever.

It's catchy; it's also the legitimate name for Bowser's great and terrible army, so it will fit well with the context of the game... you won't be seeing no Eggman or Ganondorf in this one!

Well, I was mostly just taking the lead from ATPG's Stonecutters with the Antiheroes. I think the only abilities there were Apu having 2 lives, and Moe being able to block, out of the total 5 Stonecutters. I figured this could be balanced by having 7 total Antiheroes- and you guys did have the ability to mass investigate and find the recruitables, once the 5 of you were together.

Yet....we were slaughtered by everyone???....we should have had some kinda Mason ability to a faction.....would've helped our chances...

It wasn't even that they knew you were Antiheroes or anything, WE. I think it was some incredibly bad luck that got 4 of you killed in two nights. Chaotix

Chaotix, I think I would have been able to kill Bowser. Can you confirm?

Nope. Bowser was unkillable as long as he remained in-character throughout the game. The way that the mafia would win would be if they and Bowser were the only players left- in that case, Bowser loses by default to the mafia. That's also why it was crucial to kill Bowser Jr. while Bowser was out of commission.

And no, Seph wasn't possessed by Kefka. He kinda went a little crazy went his face got scarred. It's explained pretty much completely, actually, in the write-up. It was a combination of him being scarred, ordered around by the Council, and learning from the ideas of Dimentio and Kefka that he had to kill all the villains to be a true villain himself.
