Alright, now I feel real sore for being the only one to die so far. Geez.
Also, didn't it seem like ATPG was uncharacteristically "silly" and joking in regards to almost being lynched?
Though the write-ups don't seem like his - though he could have had his partner write them up.

Pah. Cowardly.
The last time I did writeups during a game (and the ONLY time, might I add) was the Fight for Inishmore, where I intentionally disguised my own style and did all the writeups. The writeups were totally, totally lame and boring. That is why they weren't traced back to me.
I wouldn't pass off the honor of doing my writeups onto anyone besides myself. And I'm also done with hiding my style. If you see a long, humorous or particularly gory writeup, that would be me.
Sprig, are you suggesting you want some kind of CHALLENGE!!!!!!!

I don't have the time to check if I am alive or not.
I am at my friends now, and I'm off to Hiroshima this afternoon.
I should be able to gain internet access from then onwards, but I'm not too sure.
That is the reason for my temporary inactivity.
Beskar, please clarify your "they" in this sentence. Who are you referring to?
Well, since are are talking about "confirmed innocents", wouldn't the Mafia try to make sure 'they' died? I mean, that is pretty basic stuff. Though however, Pizzaguy did mention the benefits of this happening.
I don't like that comment I questioned, even if the "they" refers to the sensible thing.
Your post makes no sense.

Beskar --
I had some issues with that post of yours. People come out making arguments (accurate ones) for why it is particularly good for Townies to make real votes in this game (on both an individual and a Go-Team basis), and your immediate reaction is to try to find problems with that idea. I find that extremely suspicious in itself. Then we add to that the fact that the substance of your objection, as ATPG has already pointed out, is questionable at best.
The Ninjas may be allowed to attack each other -- Sasaki hasn't clarified. They may or may not risk actually dying if they try that. OK, there are some unknowns here. But the absolute worst case is that we must take the "confirmed Townie" pool with a slight grain of salt. But this isn't any win-win for the Ninjas. To attack one another (if it's allowed), they must:
-- give up a potential Townie kill that night
-- perhaps risk the attacked Ninja dying
-- leave enough of the actual confirmed Townies alive to provide cover for their mole
All of these things are good for Town. And your other objection, that they might want to go after the confirmed to remove them from the pool -- well of course they will, but given we can only have those confirmed in the first place if the Ninjas fail their kills, this is also good for Town. And that comes right back to the base point -- the best odds to GET confirmed Townies in the first place is for Townies to put their votes on Ninjas (in addition to all the other ways to gain points).
It's unquestionably a pro-Town suggestion, and your first instinct was to pooh-pooh it. That reads Scum to me, the first really good lead we've had. So I voted you. I don't anticipate changing it.

ATPG seems to be and I am, sick of him being instantly pro town. Treat him no differently than any other player.
I'm not, actually, though I suppose I should say so explicitly. Mafia love to make "pro-Town" suggestions, if they think it won't hurt them too much. But that can go either way. Beskar's response, on the other hand, is much more likely to come from a Ninja than a Townie.

So is what you are doing.
Everyone has their own playstyles, and with Holmes being a big factor back in the day for quite a few of us longer term players, we know we can't stick to a playstyle.
Mafia try to appear as townies, low risk style. Going out and attacking people draws attention, but possibly draws attention away from you later.
I don't see what he has done as scummy.
I'm off to get some sleep, I get audited at work in... 9 hours.
On the contrary, I think it's one of the most Scummy things out there. Someone makes a pro-Town suggestion, and you (that is, Beskar) go "but but but ... flail about with lousy reasoning" ... that's supposed to be not Scummy?
Anyway, I made the mistake of giving that sort of behavior a pass in a recent game, thinking Mafia would at be at least a little cautious about opposing suggestions that are clearly in Town's interest, and I was wrong. Not letting it pass a second time.

You know there is a actually a line, there is disagreeing with some one then there is trying to insult them.
I draw a massive fallacy in your argument, any sane Mafia would kill (or in this game, attempt) to kill any confirmed innocents straight away, because lets be honest, get to late game and you got those "confirmed innocents" and the "unknown", the Mafia would instantly be in hot water. Thus, your whole idea of a "Confirmed Town" will not be there (hence the flaw).
It isn't lousy reasoning or "but but but". It is more pointing out the big flaw in your plan. Sorry that pointing out this flaw hurt your master plan but really... Askthepizzaguy however did raise some good points, about even if the Mafia did do that, there would be certain advantages to it, this is called a "positive contribution" to the discussion, opposed to attacking some one.
I then agreed to his points and conceded to it, which was another way at looking at the situation (opposed to the one you suggested). Ergo, using your point and by the criticism and discussion that followed, we actually do as a town, have a good basis and point which puts the Ninja in a really awkward position.
Now for alternative hypothesis, are you a Ninja trying to prey on what you might perceive as an easy target using a flawed reasoning of your own as a basis, or is it more of a personal vendetta?

2 wins in 2 days for Renata... you can say that again... Mighty suspicious
Why?
Given players of roughly equal skill, as we all start off as, in a duel one of them wins and one of them loses (or in Reenk's case, both). Coming off of the 50/50 win, she may have a slightly better duel score and thus have slightly better than 50/50 odds.
When you flip a coin and it lands on "heads" twice in a row, is it odd in any way? No... nor would it be if it happened 5 times in a row. That's the thing about flipping a coin; the result is not totally predictable. It doesn't go "heads, tails, heads, tails". Sometimes there are streaks, and it is all perfectly normal.
Vote however you please; the coin flip evidence doesn't make for a good bit of reasoning though.

I will be pretty frank ("Hello Frank!"),
I am tired and been up over 24 hours and I am going to bed. While there are people I am more interested in voting on, I don't really have much to go on (for incidence, some really susipicious overly suck-up posts, feel free to look back for them).
As the long has a chance of ending soon, and it is pretty late to start a case, and when my own participation in the game is on the line itself, I am going for this vote. If the round doesn't end, I will most likely make a case against another target this morning/afternoon my time when I wake-up.
Vote: Renata
As a posted earlier, either a Ninja trying to divert susipicion from themselves, or personal vendetta due to pointing out a flaw in the original argument or some variation between the two. It was interesting to see gross misinterpretation of what occurred, and a complete malformation of what was said, in efforts to try to get me lynched. So I can only suspect a suspicious agenda.

Nothing much to say.
Oh, and I voted Renata giving no reasoning, pretty controversial in my view.
You know there is a actually a line, there is disagreeing with some one then there is trying to insult them.
First, if I insulted you, I am really sorry. I realize you don't know me at all yet, but I don't try to make it habit to try to do that.
Okay, here's what you actually wrote, in response to the two comments by ATPG and me.
Then the Mafia would obviously exploit this by feigning kills on each other or by making sure they get killed.
This was in response to both of us arguing that abstention made no sense for Townies in this game. We gave multiple reasons for that, which boiled down to: votes for Ninjas give you points; points help you survive kill attempts; survived kill attempts help Town.
Whatever the flaw in the details of what I said, the basic concept is solid. Actual votes (as opposed to absentions) help Town by increasing the number of Townie votes placed on Ninjas. In turn that makes it harder for them to kill us, which could make a big difference over time, in several ways. Yet you didn't acknowledge that aspect at all; you just pointed out a perceived flaw in one possible consequence.
That's what I'm objecting to, what I find scummy. A pro-Town suggestion was made (pro-Town regardless of whether I'm right or not about confirmed Town), and your snap reaction was to characterize one aspect of it (incorrectly, as ATPG pointed out) as something Mafia could exploit, never even addressing the core of it.
I'll just point out that you never said anything about ATPG's points being good ones until after I had voted you, which was a pretty decent time lag. Here's what you said then:
Well, since are are talking about "confirmed innocents", wouldn't the Mafia try to make sure 'they' died? I mean, that is pretty basic stuff. Though however, Pizzaguy did mention the benefits of this happening.
Calling this agreement and concession is a bit of a stretch, but OK.
Regarding the confirmed Town thing, by the way, I'll concede you're right to an extent. The Ninjas will, if they're smart, try to remove as many "survivors" as they can. It's not impossible they'll be able to get them all, at any given time. But they do already have two on their hands, which means if they want to get rid of them, their choices for this phase are already constrained. That's good for us. This time it was apparently down to sheer horrible luck on the Ninjas' part. Down the road it might be the success of Townie voting that makes the difference.
Now for alternative hypothesis, are you a Ninja trying to prey on what you might perceive as an easy target using a flawed reasoning of your own as a basis, or is it more of a personal vendetta?
Beskar, honestly, how could I have a personal vendetta against you? I don't even know you! As for the other part, it isn't the case, but there's really nothing I can say about that. People will have to judge for themselves if it looks more opportunistic or more reasoned. But seriously -- vendetta?

But to your other comment, yes, abstaining is a really stupid idea, though I have to be honest, do the Mafia get points for voting eachother? I would automatically presume a no, but it would be funny to watch the Mafia go about voting for each other in all the rounds, to power themselves up.

It seems Renata and Beskar had a disagreement. In the end, more people were on Beskar's side, and Renata was brought before the old man to have the symbol painted on her forehead.
*************************************
Andres was strolling the outskirts of the temple, when he heard the rustling of bushes behind him. Andres smiled and simply spoke “I have been waiting for you.”, the man following him was caught slightly off-guard, but regained posture and took out his sword.
Andres turned around and saw him “Ah... I never have expected you, looks like your rush for revenge has gotten the better of you.” Andres stood up-right, extending one of his arms and placing the other behind his back, ready to face his opponent.
The other man looked a little weaker, and sweating at his forehead, but he managed to plunk up the courage, to do what is right. He spoke loudly towards Andres “My name is Sasaki Kojiro, you killed my father. Prepare to die.”
Andres lunged forward at his would be assassin, and ‘Sasaki’ raised his sword to guard, however, it was a FEINT! Andres quickly turns and runs away from his attacker. ‘Sasaki’ gives chase, following after Andres, as he kept running towards the temple.
Andres was halfway there, until he flew forwards, tripping over a rope. He looked up seeing a dark shadow of what appeared to be an eight legged spider. He turns around and ends up confronting ‘Sasaki’ again. “I say again...” ‘Sasaki’ begun “My name is Sasaki Kojiro. You killed my father. Prepare to die!”
Fight broke out between ‘Sasaki’ and Andres, it was clearly an equal battle, the difference in skill this time was evened out due to the presence of the sword. ‘Sasaki’ goes in with a right-hand slash, which was dodged by Andres, ‘Sasaki’ quickly changes blade hands, to make a finishing blow, but the switch was his fatal mistake, Andres was too skilful to fall for such a simple trick and kicked ‘Sasaki’ backwards onto the ground. Andres goes over and kicks the sword out of his hand, and puts his foot on ‘Sasaki’s windpipe. Andres proclaimed “You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders” looking at the horror in his defeated opponents eyes “Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ahhh!”
Andres tricks to pick himself up, and runs around, he again sees the shadow of what appeared to be a giant spider. “You guessed wrong”, the shadow spoke, and as Andres eyes focused on the face of the creature, the vision of the cruel eye and wicked grin on the face struck him at the very core of his being. “No... it can’t be...”, the grin on the face got wider as he rips the robes Andres' is wearing with his blades, leaving a bloody kanji on Andres’ chest.
Andres awoke later in his bed, sweating. He fell backwards, relieved it was a dream, however as he began to get up, he felt a searing pain in his chest, he looked down. Today was no dream.

Five non-votes and two abstentions? I'm disappointed.
If there are any connections between the people I voted and the people who voted for me or encouraged doing so, Town might want to look into it. I had two duel wins and a riddle victory, plus had voted three people (CDF, Double A, Beskar) in situations where I would get two points if they were Ninjas. The write-up clearly demonstrates there was a kill, but no write-up for that kill. However, if you look, one of the kills were clearly written-up, so presumingly, the kills were done by different individuals. As Renata also mentions, there were 5 people who did not vote. Going on a limb, presume those people were busy, they might not have had time to do a write-up or simply cannot be bothered. Beefy187 for incidence once claimed never to do write-up's due to his grammar and non-native English, but is currently away. AVSM on the otherhand has been on the forum in his own game for incidence, but again, is known for simply not caring. CDF hasn't been around, so I will just presume he is busy and reason why no vote for him, Khazaar always lurks. As for scottishranger, other than two kills attempts and surviving both, he otherwise has not been a mention at all in the thread.
From the list of names, I would suspect AVSM and Khazaar the most. Since there is solid prove AVSM has been around (his own minimafia), I would take the gamble on him.

Inconceivable!!
You had it coming with your taunting. The Ninja wouldn't let this opportunity to frame the Dragon killer pass by. Too bad no-one will fall for this poorly executed attempt.
I voted ATPG because he claims he has a special task to get rid of scottishranger. An attempt was made at scottishranger the other night - and since I voiced my opinion regarding the impossibility for there to be any other roles besides the ninja, we haven't heard a sound from ATPG regarding this.

At least CR has a sense of humor. Oh, and for those of you not paying attn he's dead (ish). Now, I went to bed without removing my self-vote, and I'm still in disbelief mode at some of the moves I've seen in the past few rounds, so I'm leaving the vote on myself in protest. But if I can be semi-serious for a moment.
Beskar is probably not a ninja. I asked him yesterday to help me "mess with the town" by claiming to be a ninja along with me. Given he's been a bandwagon target recently and how much WIFOM attracts votes when we have a lack of suspects, it would take a lot of manliness/stupidity to poke the town in the eye, especially when they seem to be in angry swarm mode already. The fact that he went along with it unhesitatingly and with good humor tells me that his current psychological state for this game is playful and unconcerned with death. I doubt seriously that Beskar is a ninja. I was half kidding and half serious; I wanted to see how he would react.
If you guys make the mistake of lynching me  whatever, but I'd advise you that the ninja is not Beskar either. That's my serious contribution for this round.

No, pulling a Spartan is claiming to be mafia with the intention of confusing the mafia, an impossibility except in cases of multiple mafias.
Pulling a pizzaguy is sarcastically claiming to be mafia for the purpose of seeing what the reaction is. Or to show off my gigantic diamond ones when I actually am mafia.
Like in the fight for Inishmore where I dared everyone to vote me off round one and claimed to be mafia. I am fully aware what the result will be here by doing it a second time. Hit me!

Whoever wrote that explanation is misguided. It was the poor explanation of the perpetrator. The real reason behind this stunt alludes us as there were not multiple Mafia in the games where this resulted in a townie loss.
It was more in the lines of "Let's mess with the heads of the town" like your :

Having hosted the game in question and receiving Spartan's explanation from him as it was happening instead of 3+years later, I think I'm in a good position to arbitrate here. :smash:
Now, straight from the Mafia III commentary, a PM from Spartan himself:
this will either one, mess up the mafia, or two confuse the villagers. i hope the mafia mess up.
Despite the fact that he had been around the other two Mafia games where it was clear that the two mafiosi knew each other from the outset. I find ATPG's argument to be highly unlikely.
Therefore, I can only conclude that because his argument regarding "pulling a Spartan" is wrong, he is guilty.

“So why only play alone? Let me join in.” The man suggested.
“No! You can’t touch this!” atheotes spun around to the man, to see him raise his hammer for a downwards swing.
“STOP!!” atheotes screams
“Hammer Time!” the man’s hammer went crashing downwards on the figures, smashing them to pieces.

Shlin was on the roof. “If anyone comes after me here, I’ll get them for sure!”
Hours passed, until a geisha came and stood next to him, looking out towards the fields. Shlin felt a large lump in his throat; this is the closest he has ever come to a female since his birth and brought to the temple to be raised as an orphan.
“Well... I like how the moist air gives a glow on the fields” Shlin said nervously. The Geisha gave a little-giggle, a fan in front of her mouth. Shlin’s palms were getting really sweaty, his hair slightly damp, his mouth becoming dry. What is this feeling?
“Would you like to see what is under my robe?” the Geisha asked, eyes still fixed on the fields, the voice lacking in any emotion. This comment completely catches Shlin off-guard, he was unable to speak!
The Geisha turns around to him, Shlin’s feet felt frozen in place as the Geisha begins to open her robe, unconsciously as he stared, he licked his lips. Before he even got to see anything, a venomous frog jumps on his face. Shlin screams as he starts to collapse.
He awakes later in the infirmary, with a little red mark on his forehead.

Oh you dirty ninjas. Kill me for being inactive :smash:
I am not the ninja for the following reasons
-Ninjas are cooler then pirates, but is lesser being compared to Samurai.
-Ninjas are dirty backstabbers
-I'm half Chinese so that makes me more eligible Kung Fu master then half of you:clown:
-I like back stabbing
-Wait.. Ninjas gets Kunai and Shurikens.
-I'm inactive. Bad town period.
-Wait... Wait..
Ok, let me try that again.
Recent history shows that I haven't really followed the rule of "never become a silent killing mafia" and I could very well be one in this game.
But here is my defense
- I never let crappy grammar be the reason for my downfall. Lack of write ups does indeed suggest the mafia to be none native speakers, but games like God Father III shows that I use my native speaking mafia buddies to do the write ups for me.

More like a town trying to get leads. Though, what is really weird is this connection between you and AVSM. I called AVSM out on the previous, he mentions nothing, I randomly picked you, and he jumps to your defence.
Why did he jump in to defend you, but not bother defending himself? Why has he been very quiet and not-posting or taking part, but when a Mafia-partner is mentioned, he suddenly joins in.
This shows he has been active the whole time, and just purposely not taking part in discussions. An obvious connection between the both of you.

Death is Yonder went "Ooh, splitpersonality" and walked over to the tiny grasshopper to inspect it when he fell into a cleverly disguised pit and broke his legs.
Death is Yonder wailed and called for help but the hours passed and nobody showed up. He was already thinking he had to die in this hole when two darklyclad figures peered over the edge of the pit. "Hey, you gotta help me out here, I broke my legs!" A bag landed besides Death is Yonder, in it was a brush, a vial with red paint and a stencil for a sign. A voice came from above "Use the stencil from the bag to paint the sign on your forehead and we´ll pull you out."
"But that´s mean!" Death is Yonder replied. Laughter sounded from above until Death is Yonder had painted the symbol on his own forehead. Afterwards a rope was lowered into the pit so that Death is Yonder could pull himself out.

Beskar and CDF were under suspicion early, but somewhere around day 3-4 peoples interest waned (including my own obviously). Ah well, I wanted to do a pure mafia vs town style game. Mafia win if the town isn't active.
I claim second place. Right about CDF even if the reason was half facetious, and freakin' RIGHT about Beskar. Take THAT, ATPG!
Wrong about Sigurd, though.
It was a nice move by Mafia to do only one kill for a couple of Days running, though. Besides the false read on AVSM, it kept the Town lulled into a stupor thinking there was less urgency than there was.
I really liked the premise of the game, Sasaki.

Your duel score would have been just 3 points below ninja level if beskar had gotten lynched instead of you.
I was pretty much the only active Ninja and Town Member!
Your argument used against me was wrong though Renata. As a Mafia, i play exactly the same as I would a towns person. So you trying to pick-up on the so-called Scumminess would have resulted you lynching a town in other circumstances.

Ha. Nobody's that perfect. I'm sure there was something subliminal I was picking up. Or something. :)
Ha. Nobody's that perfect. I'm sure there was something subliminal I was picking up. Or something. :)
Well, I would get caught out quite easy in a Capo situation where the town can monitor everyone. As the game mechanics force you to in a situation where you are just exposed (like getting investigated by a detective).
I play the game telling the truth. I might only not say something I know, however, there isn't any lies. (though if you said: "Are you mafia?", I would obviously say "no")
The problem is, the so-called Beskar = Scum theory is incorrect due to the very beginning, I was constantly first round lynched for being "Scummy" when I was innocent. If some one gets lucky, as in, if you constantly accuse some one as scummy, there is going to be a time when they would actually will be, thus validating incorrect claims.
I will clarify this with statements in this thread. I said that Reenk Roink was lying (which he was) then he goes "FOS: Beskar for calling me a liar and making things up." If I got lynched then, he would say "I told you he was lying." even though my statement was fully accurate. I would have made such a statement as a town. There was never anything scummy in my statement, if anything, the only scum was coming from Reenk Roink, as he was actively lying, which could be argued if he did have a high-duel score, it would be because he was a ninja.
Also with your comment that you thought my behaviour was scummy, I re-read it, while there might be at least misunderstanding going on, there wasn't anything which would come across as scummy. Nothing I said made things worse for the town, if anything, the comments I made actually made it harder for the mafia, in otherwords, I was helping the town. So unless helping the town = mafia, it opens a whole new field of WIFOM.
Also, forgive me, I got lynched early game so much for being "scummy" when I was a town that if anyone says "that statement is scummy" I tend to just completely discredit it, without a reliable argument I can actually agree with. (examples could be: That write-up is completely written in Beskar's style, would mean I will have to try harder to hide it next time, etc)

Also, CDF lurked more than I ever seen him do in this game.
The best example was when you said that in another game, while in the another game, you was the only voter (and a mafia) :laugh4:.
Yeah, My attention is really split. I was serious about stepping back from most mafia games, that was not some ninja trick. :sweatdrop:
Sorry beskar, I thought I would have time for this, but things just fell apart. I am ashamed we ended up winning this way really, I would have much preferred to win the old fashioned way. :sweatdrop:
I played a horrible game, and honestly I expected being lynched a while ago.
Sorry guys, I should have put more effort in this.... Town proibably would had won if I did so :laugh4::laugh4::laugh4:

Thank you Kojiro.
Though I did enjoy the first one a bit more. :grin2:
Crane style...or was I dragon style or something. Must read again some time.
One active Mafia with 2 lurker companions is a whole chapter of Mafia strategy 101.
Well done.

Combine that with only 1 or 2 active townies....Win for mafia every time.
Good game to the ninjas and thanks to Sasaki for hosting.

Are ye gonna follow yer gut ATPG, in future games? :beam:
Are you gonna lynch me when there's no murder writeups? :beam:
Most of us did a not so great job this time. I still think I was a bad lynch.
