today i met my match. i am sure of it.
she loves metallica and iron maiden, and even plays guitar! shes from the UK, and will be joining my grade in August.
match made in heaven, no?

by the way, no dice with that girl i mentioned earlier who flirted with me a lot. turns out she does that with a lot of guys.
but it doesnt matter, i found someone better.

You probably mean the other girl was a match and this one's a lighter?

I thought finding your match meant you found someone who can beat you but now I cannot find any references to that?

I wouldn't get overly excited yet, excited yes, overly no, you just met her today, tomorrow she might tell you of her boyfriend and you'll have to open a completely new thread about how to get rid of him. ~;)

Apart from shared interests, or at least similar taste in music, does she seem interested?
Best not to get overly exited like Husar said. Don't pin yourself on one girl you don't know very well, be open for others too. Love (for lack of a better word) sometimes comes from unexpected places.

Metalliwho? Seriously, may be a mental blank I know they're a band and I know they're big, but I have no idea what any of their songs are.

God, don't even start it. The only girls that like me listen to metal, mainly. This is a real conversation:

She: "Ah, so you listen to The Band? That's awesome!"
Me: "Uhhuh! Have you heard of them?"
She: "Yeah, of course! My father listens to them...he's 60 ;D"
Me: "..g-great, thanks"

So whenever we talk about music, I just go on and on about CCR, The Band, The Who, BTO, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. I mean, I can't even pronounce all of those Finnish names. :_: Although we usually do share the love for folk music (although they don't all admire Huun Huur Tu the way I do).

I don't genuinely love them, I can just appreciate some of their songs like One or Enter Sandman... in fact probably just those, haha.

I attended Leeds Festival in 2008 where Metallica were the headlining act for the Friday night; I chose to go with a "friend's" choice and watch The Cribs instead. In hindsight I should have gone with the once-in-a-lifetime chance of Metallica... I just couldn't tolerate the crowd there! xD

In like flint? Like, making a fire? I dunno about you, but I'd rather be in like Flynn.
In like Flynn

Meaning

To be quickly and/or emphatically successful, usually in a sexual or romantic context.

Origin

This phrase is commonly said to be a reference to Errol Flynn, the Australian film actor.

Apologies, but from my view, would you rather continue saying 'flint' and then have someone correct you and you be all ashamed in a big group of friends, or would you rather now know about it and you can then correct people AND tell them what its actually from?

Throwing in phrases like that to people who don't get them is awesome fun.

examples: Saying someone was hoisted with their own petard or commenting on someone's great parthian shot.

To be truly ironic, the situation would have to be that hooah was originally from Leeds and moved to Atlanta with his family because they had a dislike for the people of Leeds, only for hooah to fall in love with a woman from Leeds, that he met in Atlanta.

Hell, I was even smart enough to post this!

tl;dr Life is good, crazy ex will not be a factor ever again.

Notice the Episode 3 above?

Man, I wish I had the optimism of Prussian or Hooah sometimes.

Around christmas I was nice to her for a few minutes. Month and a half later said hello, that was it.

A month ago, how are you etc.

Less than a week ago: We had a really nice conversation...it felt exactly like it used to, before anything went wrong.

Saw her saturday night. We did absolutely nothing. She was late, then we spent about 20 minutes attempting to find each other. Holy smokes, did she look different. I don't mean to offend anyone, but you could have picked her up and put her on a sidewalk and people would be inquiring as to how much for 'directions'.

We sat in the rain for a while, and it was not awkward at all, like we thought it would be. She's leaving and going to England in under two weeks for a decent amount of time. It was meant to be a goodbye, look at her now egads etc etc.

Until today.

I picked her up after she finished work and drove her 90 minutes to where her car was. It was such a reversal. When we were together, I couldn't drive (she's a year older) so she did, and it was just weird to see the differences.

Shes getting bogged down in stuff again. She came on last night at 1am, said hello, i just found out my best friend has cancer and may die this year, what do i do? I said be her friend etc etc and she went to bed. And now this.

Am i screwing myself over again for this darn girl and the shadow of what we used to have?

No, it wouldn't be an old hag, it would be a guy. They would try to pose as some hot dutch girl, but they are really just some homosexual guy who is desperate for a little attention. I known of some one even using voice-changers, so they could pose as a 'female' over voicechat.

What is funny when I used it, it made me sound like a 12 year old male american, and when Secura used it, made her sound like a chipmunk. i learned the whole, accurate story from multiple sources:

so this guy who was annoying her asked her out to this event multiple times, i heard it was 5 times. but i asked her first, so she continually said "no im going with (my name)."
he kept insisting that she drop me and go with him but she kept refusing to drop me.
finally she got so annoyed that she said that she wouldnt go with anyone. as a result the other guy got angry and said that he wont go to the banquet, even though that he kept bragging to his friends that he was going to go with this girl.
im going to talk to her about this and try to change her mind about me, so wish me luck. i dont have much time, for the banquet is tomorrow evening.

I see no reason why she would be angry with you if that is what you are implying. If I were you, I would go to the banquet alone (if she is going and if you can go alone) and just fraternize with her, get a more formal date another time. Otherwise, skip the banquet as a gesture (if she won't go you won't go) and after a brief period, ask again for a formal date or such. Just hope the other crazy guy has no further internsions because that could complicate things. In my opinion. Perhaps she and you could keep your affair clandestine (secret).

You'd be surprised at the degree of truth in that.

It's the same with dogs though.

now that i think about it...yeah i kinda tried too hard, but it was my first try ever at asking out a girl. still trying to perfect my formula for that; it seems like every time i take a step forward in my confidence and my comfort with girls, it always wears out right before i need it most. and the friends i usually get that step forward with live an hour away so....

Hey, is that the girl you were stalkin? :clown:

You seem quite concerned for her feelings and well-being. What a good friend you must be.

Wisdom, it's in this post.

Because men and women can't just be friends, right? :P

Right, someone is always chasing someone

Even committed people look after there seeds,...maybe that's where this illusion of friendship comes from.

Strike actually being right about something that doesn't concern manly stuff?

Who said chasing women wasn't manly?

Having said that, it's a crying shame that there is truth in it. It's sometimes such a pleasure to just go for a cup of tea with someone you consider a friend of the other gender, if you know they feel the same and there's no pressure.

Idle chit-chat (especially over tea), when there is no pressure of potential relationship is the best way to truly get to know one another. Otherwise, things might get rushed, blunting any bond that could be formed with the conversation.

Sex in 7th grade?! Did the participants even go thru puberty yet?!

going as a bachelor actually wasnt so bad, but being at the table among 3-4 other couples is kinda lonely.

Don't dwell on such things. One banquet does not reflect the relationships and their potential of the past or the future. If you conduct yourself coorectly, lonliness is only a temporary thing.

In this situation, the best thing to do is to get the other guys in trouble with their girls. Inappropriate comments, conversations that take their focus away from their lady friends. Harass them publicly for being whipped when they don't go along. Try to get them out of the act they are putting on for their dates. Comedy usually ensues.
