Hi, I would like make a humble suggestion to the staff of EB 2 to mark my arrival to EB 2.

Now, EB is by my opinion the best mod ever to be introduced into the world of gaming, the only mod that can be mentioned in the same sentence is the "Battlegroup 42" mod for battlefield 1942.

Now the most shocking thing about a mod as complex as EB is that it's free, but that also means that the development of the EB 2 entirely depends on the good will of the developers to use their precious free time to use their divine mod skills without any payment. . .wich is the main reason the project lasts so long.

What I propose is to do the same thing as the "Arsenal of Democracy" team did for Hearts of iron 2: develop the game as a mod(or expansion in the case of AoD) and put a humble price of some dozens of dollars to the download of it.

By doing that the developers would get the reward/money they more than deserve and every EB fan would gladly pay such fine because of the most important thing and that is the development itself would significantly speed up and the fans would get EB 2 far sooner.

Hope im not offending eventual opensource fanatics in the team:sweatdrop:

I believe that - if they even want that, which I think they don't - they aren't allowed bij SEGA and CA to sell their mod.

Thanks in the name of the team :nice:

Right and right.

BTW even if, in a parallel world, we would have decided to do so, just imagine that to have more free time we would have to stop our IRL work to dedicate ourselves entirely to EB. And so we would be forced to put a price higher than a douzain of dollars :sweatdrop:

But, well, the quality of free access of some work is a propper part of itself, so is for EB.

Hmm, illegal to ask payment, yes, but here is an idea:
It is not illegal to send a "gift", HA!
So we just need to put our minds together and construct a way to systematically send gifts in order to simultaneously receive/download a LARGE "gift" from the EB tim...
Come on people...ideas?

Another idea is to create a donation system in witch the developers would gain money in return for spending more time on EB 2...of course that would mean that the mentioned time would increase/decrease along with the amount of the money received in the barbaric piggy bank.(of course the culture of the piggy bank is on the EB team to decide)
The investors would obviously have to count on the honor of the EB team to hold their end of the bargain, but since they spent the last decade doing pure modding good for free I have no doubt in them.

Or why don't you just send a donation through PayPal (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?88436-Donation-request)?

The only way for the team to spend more time on the mod is for them to quit their jobs. Not only is that a bad idea in today's economy, we would need to collect an enormous amount of money to make that worthwhile for them. So I really don't see that working.

Oh, sorry, didn't notice the donation thread. . .
Well, it was worth a try. . .
By the way, how naive is to believe in a EB release before 2011 ?

I believe you meant 2111...

Is it illegal for EB Development Team to have a sponsor?

P.S. EB Dev Team gets non-monetary rewards, too, yeah? (=

I have never understood why people seem so keen to make everyone pay for stuff? If you are rich enough and happy enough to pay for EB then donate. Its great that you are in such a position to have all this free money and I wish you well with your wealth. But if they did start charging some of us poor buggers would unfortunately have to pass up the chance to play, that would suck.
Wierd how ppl are only happy to pay for somehting if its compulsory, but if its not they feel no reason to donate.

Just to make something very clear.

Donations are only used to pay for the server, we don't make any money from it.

Just so that noone has the wrong idea.

I always thought that the EB team has made their fantastic mod because the enjoy making it, and providing it for other people to play, not because they wan't money from it :).
Though, if it was pay-only, I would pay :)

And you're very much correct. Though there's a political agenda too. Except for conquering the world and relaunching the Spice Girls, we also want to inform people about history and to show why it's important to use criticism when dealing with history and ideas, theories, commonly accepted truths,...as well. Lastly don't judge another culture using the moral and other values of your own.

Now of you go read to read some more history. You agreed to do that remember? That and buy a spice girls records. You like the spice girls. You like the Spicegilrs' songs. Spice girls.

Spice girls...

Spice girls...

....adding this to a list of evil definitions :)

I'm amazed to learn from EB that they started the spice route

Um, excuse me, but that's nonsense. At least the way it's phrased. Moral relativism is an ideology and not scientific at all.

Seeing our current western society and it's culture as a natural evolution and goal for other cultures isn't that scientific either. Also source cirticism is an ideology in a way as well, an ideology sciece supports. Are ideologies on themselves necessarily a bad? Is EB scientific?

Moros, I don't see what judging of ancient cultures has to do in any respect with what we're doing in EB. I think the first part hit the nail on the head though: many ancient cultures are judged or circumscribed in various ways to avoid judgment; we want to attempt to show them as they were.

A humble sandwich to the EB 2 team, so they will have enough energy to continue the modding!

Can we judge Spice Girls "music" BTW? :laugh4:

A little clarification : Arsenal of democracy is not a traditional game mod. The team that developed it had access to the Hearts of Iron 2 source code and worked directly on that. They also signed an agreement with Paradox about distribution of the game and non-disclosure ...

Would it be too much to ask for a EB rendition of a "If You Wanna Be My Lover" in Common Greek for the menu music in the Gaza Campaign, Moros?

B-Wing

I don't see why not, antisocialmunky. I think it also imperative that Merchants be included in EB2. But they should be renamed Spice Girls, and the only trade-able resources would be various types of spices. There would need to be new models, of course. More feminine, voluptuous ones. Scantily clad, too. :gorgeous: Moros has convinced me.
