defeated a hungarian army and executed the prisoners, no need for hired mercenaries thanks to the help of Hers Merode and von Essen. My lord Prinz, I request that you lond me any troops available from Wien for further action against the Hungarians. I am recruiting men of my own but they will be to few to do anything but defend Budapest for the time being.

Leo beat a big Milanese army and besieged Milan.
Recruited:
Merc xbows 860
Sergeant cav 460
Peasant archers 200
-------------------------
Total = 1520
As per my upcoming announcement in the Diet, Von Essen and the spies are now off my books and I no longer receive the income for Innsbruck.
Also Merode is now to be a member of the House of Brandenburg-Bohemia and the Margrave should pay his wage.
Herden's BG wages should be paid for on his own account (supported by the income from Budapest).
AND I accepted an adoption so we have a new avatar and member of Osterreich
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=205&id=8926
Moved a couple spies, lost one on an easy mission...grumble...also, I lowered the Emperor's chivalry by using one of the spies...

recruited one unit of spear militia, and moved my army south towards Ragusa. I simply moved the army away from Merode as he is no longer under my command, but he i now in the field with no men so he will need to be moved for his won safety. (There are some rebels right next to him, he should feel free to fight them if he wants, I certainly would not object to some help clearing my lands on his way north.)

By the way, I forgot to mention that I got 1351 florins in ransom money. If I understand things correctly, the Reichmarschall should then have 675 florins (50% of my ransom) right now, as no turn has passed since the Diet. No taxes should thus have been paid yet.
Edit: Apparently I also forgot to say that I moved my spy north. I'm slipping.

Did a few things. My spy infiltrated Stettin and revealed that the Polish king was present there with a garrison that Theodericus could take care of. Unfortunately, the Pope's threat of excommunication if he attacked stayed the Margrave's hand. Instead, he stayed put, retrained and expanded his army in Magdeburg while sending the Bohemian regiments to Prague for the same.
He also (finally) started raising one cavalry regiment for the Osterreich. They will be ready to leave Magdeburg next turn, and should be entirely paid for by the Prinz as agreed.
Finally I put a grain exchange into the building queue of Prague for 1000 florins.

Save is back... (http://www.mediafire.com/file/iegtq0axruh3aql/VV%20Turn%2032-3.sav) Took longer than I thought but I had to fight two battles in a row
Milan has fallen to the forces of Provence... Northern Italy is unified under one rule. (No men from Prinz Leopold's army were used or harmed in the assault... They joined the battle as reinforcements but as I had control over them I let them stand by the sideline). Only 6 men of Prinz Lothar's army have been lost in the assault.
8635 florins were discovered in the merchant council coffers and added to the Principality's treasury in Genoa. A further ransom of 300 fl. was rejected.
Genoa has also been freed of the Venetian threat though at a greater cost. A ransom of some 1900 fl. was rejected by the Venetians. Genoa has gained the named of "Crown of Swords" for it is now crowned by two heroic victory markers...
Need to do some editing on pics and I'll be sure to post a few here and do a battle report this time around, though it will have to wait until tomorrow at the earliest.

Here are the announcements for this season:
Enroute to Prague, Captain Athawolf's men were attacked by a Polish army. After some fighting they were able to retreat, but lost half their numbers. They have reorganized into one regiment and are now in Prague.
A young nobleman named Ulrich von Bohmen has been offered as a daughter to the Imperial Princess Fridewiga. Regarding this decision, it should be noted that the Reich currently has no means with which to recruit diplomats.
Representatives of the Thieves' Guild have come forth and offered to establish themselves as the preeminent guild in Milan.
The Reich is seen ast eh most advanced realm in the world. No other realm can claim to have so rich a culture, or so many a wise scholar to further their people's greatness.
The population of Marseille has now reacehd a point where it may be upgraded into a large town. This will open up new construction options, which in turn will lead to new recruitment options as well. To do this you must upgrade your wooden Palisade to a Wooden Wall. You do not have to do this immediately, but as teh population increases further, overcrowding will eventually start to increase squalor levels and slow down growth.
You have greatly pleased His Holiness by refraining from hostile actions against your fellow Christians, the French. He only hopes this newfound peace will last.

Event Three: Rebellion, Again
Things have come to a head in Italy. Count Lothar Zirn, the rebel who has been making quite a name for himself, has at last come face to face with opposition in the form of Prince Leopold, whose march south to defeat the Milanese has now turned into something more.
Although Count Lothar was able to seize Milan in a daring nighttime raid, the close proximity of Prince Leopold told him that it was better to leave as quickly as he had arrived. After a round of looting and pillaging, he left and returned to Genoa. But Leopold was not one to dawdle either, and after leaving a skeleton garrision he continued onwards towards Genoa as well, vowing that Lothar would finally be brought to justice.
Although Lothar arrived at Genoa first, the city was under the suzerainity of the Kaiser after he invoked his privalege at the last Diet. As a result, he was unable to compel the local garrison to prevent Prince Leopold from entering the city as well. Now that both forces are present, a battle seems inevitable.
But at what cost? Milan is much weakened now to be sure, scattered between Navarra, Corsica and the Swiss Cantons. But Duke Giorgio is not yet beaten, and even now raises a new army in Bern. Innsbruck may fall once again. What's worse, the Venetians have already taken advantage and laid siege to Milan and it's skeleton garrison. Can the Reich afford this destructive conflict?
During this event, the rules will be modified in the following way:
Players who are at war no longer take the save as normal. Instead, those at war must PM the GM with their orders each turn, including recruitment, construction, movement etc. The GM will implement the orders simultaneously at the end of the turn, and PM the partcipants the results.

Here are the announcements for this season:
King Zbigniew of Poland has truly fallen out of favour with the Pope, who has deemed it necessary to excommunicate him from the Catholic church. While this does not serve as an immediate threat to this Christian lord's position, it is likely that he will soon be at odds with both his people and other more pious Catholic rulers.
Marseille has completed construction of a Wooden Wall, and Prague of a Grain Exchange.
Reports are coming in from across Western Europe of engineers who have created a miracle mill that requires no stream or river to power it. Supposedly, man has found a way to let the very winds themselves drive massive mill mechanisms, simply by catching it in sails on beams of wood. While the Windmill's effectiveness reportedly dies as the winds do, to those living far from running water, it is sure to be considered a Godsend.
Prague has been surrounded by Polish forces and is held under siege. Though safe for the moment, there is no telling whether or not your foes will assault the walls soon, or attempt to starve your defenders out. Perhaps acting first may take your foes by surprise...
As Poland has been excommunicated, it matters little how much of their faithless blood you spill. You are no longer charged with ceasing hostilities with this faction.

Margrave Theodericus der Bartige has left a small army (soon to be aided by new spearmen and archer recruits) in Magdeburg under Harold Merode and marched to relieve Prague. Taking his by now infamous cavalry regiments with him, he has ridden in front of the rest of his army, forced a fight with the Polish besiegers and won a clear victory. Here are the announcements for this season:
Magdeburg and Frankfurt have been surrounded by Polish forces and are held under siege. Though safe for the moment, there is no telling whether or not your foes will assault the walls soon, or attempt to starve your defenders out. Perhaps acting first may take your foes by surprise...
In addition, here is the Financial Chart and Assets List.

The siege of Magdeburg has been ended by Margrave Theodericus der Bartige. By attacking during heavy snowfall, the cowardly enemy didn't dare stay on the field but fled back to Stettin. This has made Theodericus feel more respected, thus improving his loyalty, but it has also worsened our relations with the Poles: they are now considered abysmal, as if they weren't that already.
The save can be found right here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=205&id=9055).
And after three battle's of Zagreb I finally manage to accidentally kill a general. Pity it wasn't mine. :sweatdrop: Von Magdeburg fell bravely dueling the Hungarian Lord that met us in the city.
Zagreb sacked for 2557. 1278 to the Reichsmarshall as required. An additional 500 to Lord Jens for his roads. If I have calculated correctly that leaves me 2222 between the money from sacking Zagreb and my own personal treasury. This amount I donate to the Emperor for use in its defense or any other use he sees fit.

The Prinz laid siege to Venetian-held Milan. Hired Merc Frankish knights (1080) and Merc Spear (660) on the way.
Nightbringer, I will pay for the roads in Vienna, I give you permission to recruit there and I also relieve you of your tax of 500 florins per turn.
I took the liberty of lowering taxes in Genoa to stop it revolting after I left and raising them in Marseilles to make whoever is receiving that income more money. Hope that's ok with whoever that is (GH?)

I moved towards Zagreb to help relieve it but am awaiting word from the Kaiser real quick if possible.
Also, a potential problem. On my initial take of the save a spy died trying to check out a Hungarian army (with an 84% chance :wall: ). However, I realised I accidentally took the original save for the turn, not the latest one. I made the same moves on the correct save but the spy survived. What should we do about that, Cecil?

It's up to Cecil of course but I would have thought the key words are highlighted above. As I understand it the random seed is set at the start of the turn and is altered by subsequent actions within the turn. So every time you load the same save and repeat the same action the same outcome will occur.
Given the second time you loaded the save you were supposed to load in the first place, the spy was never 'supposed' to die!

hey Cecil, could you use this save for the game instead. I just got a chance to play my part of the turn following the diet issue and the recruitment authorization.
I recruited
1 unit of mercenary spearmen (660)
1 unit of mercenary crossbowmen (860)
in Insbruck
Sergeant Spearmen (430)
Peasant Archers (200)
Mounted Sergeants (460)
All were recruited by the Reichsmarshall
I also moved him northwest and sent the troops I had in innsbruck up to meet him, and also joined the spear militia in vienna with his army.

News has reached us that the King of Poland died in the Siege of Stettin, and a new King has been crowned.
After much deliberation, the Pope has decided that Poland has made amends for it's blasphemous, disrespectful ways, offering them total reconciliation with the Catholic church. No longer are these peoples' lands fair game for the other Catholic rulers to treat as targets of conquest, lest they induce the Pope's wrath!

Cecil, I'm sorry I told you I didn't recruit those miltia last turn, I remember now I did so your 630 in the spreadsheet is correct. So you'll just need to add another 1600-odd for the Milanese sacking florins to both me and the Reichsmarschall.
This turn I recruited 2x town militia at Vienna for a total of 620
And the Kaiser really needs to move some of the Marseilles troops to Genoa so it doesn't rebel and also so that the single-unit Milanese incursions can be fought off now I'm leaving the area
I also accepted the adoption (although the benefactor is Harold Merode, hope that's ok) - so we have room for another player!
