Alright, now in a few turns I can come back and tell a tale of Homeric proportions to explain what exactly went wrong up there. It is a tale of intrigue! A tale of guilt! A tale of friendship! A tale of war! And other neat stuff like that.
Unless taxes are at lowest setting, Kydonia will revolt.
1902
Whoever ends the turn, can they type this in the console:
move_character "Areus Agiados" 138,105.
Koinon Hellenon AI didn't capture Kydonia for 43 turns, I don't think their army there is going to do anything. Typing that in console will at least send them back home to Sparta, and will help AI Koinon Hellenon fight off Macedon and Epirus.
As a side note, this is a major, major element of my RP cover-story, so damn if it is not possible.

Okay, I would like to say this publicly now since two people have made the same mistake: please do not fiddle around with the taxes no matter what, not even if a settlement is about to rebel. If you don't trust your dear, old Chancellor to do it, you should have nominated yourself as Treasurer, because he's the only one allowed to do that. Feel free to point it out if you fear he might miss it, but remember to respect the rules and also keep in mind that if he doesn't change the taxes, it might have an IC reason. ~;)
Also, recruiting units is only to be done by the Polemarchos/Treasurer, and this is especially important with mercenaries. This is not just to keep with the rules but also to make life easier for me as I have to keep track on not just private but also the kingdom's economy. After all, the game doesn't see the distinction of which units are privately funded and which are not.
Thanks.
If chancellor controls the taxes of Kydonia then he betrays the law because it is an illegally occupied territory!
Beat that! :P
As an aside:
If Kydonia has a civil revolt it would join Koinon Hellenon and we would be automatically at war with them
Same goes for Palmyra and Saba- if Palmyra revolts, it would join Saba and we will be at war with them.

Yes, I have thought about that as well. I think I will lower the taxes only to avoid a revolt; I had planned to gift Kydonia over to the KH anyway so I don't want our alliance with them destroyed when there's no reason for it.
I have some bad news, though. Ibn-Khaldun PM'd me last night and told me that he is retiring completely as GM, and won't be playing with us here anymore. This means that I'm taking over as GM on a permanent basis, so I hope no one objects to that. I will contact some admin and see if I can get mod privileges over this section.
I'm sure you'll make a great GM. Will Ibn Khaldun come back as a regular player?

Unfortunately, no. He doesn't know when he will come back, and it's possible he never will. His character will be boarded onto a ship in the Nile as his friends and family watch him go up in flame and glory, in honour of what he has done for us all.

I'm not sure I'll be able to continue, my EB is not working, I've reinstalled four times but it's crashing on the splash screen.

Hm. Does it happen both with and without the KotN mod?

Actually, after it stopped happening I haven't even tried the KotN mod with the fresh installs so the problem isn't there. I'll try installing the mod to see if that makes a difference, unlikely but worth a shot...
edit: Nope, still crashes.
Did you try reinstalling rome Tw itself?
check to see if you can get vanilla to work right.
If all else fails, just erase everything and start over reinstalling rome tw from scratch.

Believe me I've been playing EB long enough to know how to do a clean reinstall, anybody playing the mod from the beginning will know how to do that. :laugh4: RTW works fine when it's installed, it's when I install EB 1.1 I get the problem. I've even redownloaded and tried that.
I'll keep following along and play my character in thread, just not sure I'll be able to use him in game. I was finally about to finally attack that stack south of Ammonion when I tried to load it up...
I'll keep trying to get it working and see what happens.

If you do that, it would be great. If you plan on being active I could give you the command over the 1st Syrian army as johnhughthom still has issues with his computer.

That would be nice, but I'll relinquish command once john returns.

Hi,
Since I have some time now I thought I could help you out by updating the Library.
However, I need to know who are still playing, how many battles someone have fought etc.
If someone could provide me all the information I need for the update then that would be nice.
PM me if you want to help.

I'll join but my character is to be revealed.
Hint:he is a rebel who wants to kick the ptolomioi out of Egypt and restore pharaohs power over the land

Cool stuff. :)
As far as I know, only TCV, Paul D and myself are playing. All my glorious exploitations are in my post in the Status and Orders thread.

I hope this will change soon.
Btw, this is the best time to start a rebellion.. 2 against 1...
Hey guys, This thread has me thinking.

Is there anything I can do for you guys? EB is one of my favorite mods and perfect for an rpg...

Gah, I don't believe it, I bought a cheap disc copy of RTW and even that doesn't run EB...

Looking back, I have no idea why I thought that would work. The things you do when you desperately try to get a mod working. Out of ideas now, less a full system format, which I think may be a tad excessive...
So, no new saves for a week... Was the capture of Seleuceia the end of our campaign?
The Celtic Viking

Heh, not really. It's just that I have had a lot of studies to do and, quite frankly, my motivation to do the Chancellor-stuff in the time I have alloted to computer gaming has waned. I'll end this turn tomorrow, and then there's a new Council Session. That's actually good, because I will not take on the role as Chancellor again, so I don't have to resign and cause a double Council. This does mean, however, that someone else will have to take over that part. (Note that the Chancellor and the Royal Treasurer doesn't have to be the same person; in fact, that's only so in the case that no one signs up for the latter one. The responsibilities can be divided.)
Edit: wow, the capture of Seleukeia really made us rich. Whoever becomes the Chancellor will have a lot to play with!
Sorry, I haven't been doing this lately.
I'm currently working on a Forum gaming project which I will shamelessly plug here:

I am back as long as there are still others doing this.

Well, I'm willing to go on playing this, but as I've said before, we need a Chancellor and I won't be it this time. Either you yourself or Folgore need to step up if you want this show to go on.
Sorry guys, I haven't had much time the past week and I don't think it will improve much over the next months.
I've really enjoyed our game, even if it was limited to 2-5 people, but perhaps we should call an end to it?
