View Full Version : Large Mafia Game The Palace [Concluded]
The Palace
https://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t2/AndresTheCunning/Org/ThePalace_zpse29c8d0a.jpg
A luxuruous Palace ship in an unnamed South-American country.
Don Fernando Delgado was sitting in one of the rooms in the top floor, playing his cello. It was a nice and warm evening. Perhaps a bit too hot for Don Fernando Delgado's taste, but all in all, a good night. Overlooking the river always made him calm and brough him peace. The window on the opposite site of the room overlooked the village.
A criminal, Western newspapers called him. A ruthless murderer. Responsible for the deaths of countless young americans, they said. While all he was doing, was providing goods. Answering a need. People would always do drugs. He was simply the man who made sure they got what they wanted. It wasn't him who said it was illegal. It wasn't him who ruined countless lives by putting people in jail for something as innocent as having a bit of fun in life.
When you came to think of it, governments were the biggest criminals. They just happened to be the most powerful criminals, using their powers to give themselves an aura of being right and just. But in the end, it was just all about power. Don Fernando Delgado didn't think of himself as a criminal. He was just a powerful businessman, powerful enough to show his middlefinger to the most powerful, but not powerful enough to put the most powerful from their seat and call himself the authority.
While these thoughts were going through his mind, Don Fernando Delgado continued playing, the soft and enjoyable tones going with the flow of the river.

Allthough the assignment was very clear and straightforward, the Parchezzis watched the briefing one more time.
They were confident that they would be able to get the job done. Armed to the teeth and dressed as locals, they infiltrated the village.

Two black gloved hands closed the small notebook and put it back into a briefcase.
Slowly, the black gloved hands picked up two pistols and holstered them.
He was ready.

Welcome to "The Palace". A game in which a benevolent drugs baron ruling the better part of an unnamed South-American country faces the imminent threat almost certain death.
Will he survive and continue his rule or will the assassins' hired by the government of a neighbouring country be succesfull?
It's all up to you!
***
Rules
There are three sides in this game: the drugsbaron, his bodyguards and the local villagers ("townies"), the secret role and the assassins ("mafia").
The townies are the innocent people and they have to lynch the mafiosi during the day. The mafiosi will kill two townies each night (in this game, the mafia has two kills each night, regardless of with how many they are. This means that if one mafioso is lynched, the mafia will still have the ability to kill two players each night). When all mafiosi are lynched, the townies win. When all townies are dead, they lose and the mafia will have won.
The secret role is completely secret and no specifics will be revealed at this point. In fact the secret role is so secret, that even the host isn't sure about what it's all about.
Each day or night phase will last approximately 24 hours. This may be extended or shortened due to real life circumstances of the host (that's me).
The townies have to decide during the day by voting who will get lynched. The person with the most votes, will be lynched.
Votes have to be made like this:
Vote : Andres
When you want to switch your vote, you have to do it like this:
Unvote : Andres ; Vote : Secura
Please remember to BOLD YOUR VOTES! UNBOLDED VOTES WILL NOT BE COUNTED! No exceptions will be made. Also, REMEMBER TO UNVOTE BEFORE SWITCHING YOUR VOTE; if you forget to unvote, your vote switch will be ignored. DO NOT EDIT YOUR POST TO ALTER YOUR VOTE. IF YOU ALTER YOUR VOTE, YOU NEED TO MAKE A NEW POST.
One of the townies will play the role of Don Fernando Delgado. The identity of the player playing Don Fernando Delgado will be revealed publically. Don Delgado will direct the lynches and will decide who gets lynched in case of a tie. Don Delgado is the target of the assassins and will be protected by bodyguards. The identity of the bodyguards will not be revealed. The bodyguards do not have special night abilities; they just need to stay alive in order to protect the Don. The bodyguards will know each others' identity.
Notes:
* You're allowed to vote "abstain"; voting "no lynch" will be counted as an abstain vote.
* When a tie is reached, the player playing Don Delgado will decide who gets lynched. In case this player doesn't pm his decision to the host within 12 hours, the host will randomly lynch one of the players in the tie.
* regardless of your role, you are supposed to be active in the thread. Severe inactivity (no strict rule, but you can take not posting for 6 RL days in a row as a basic rule) will be dealt with by WoG ("Wrath of God") which basically means that you'll be killed by the host in a most humiliating way.
* If you can no longer play for whatever reason, please inform the host and he'll try to find a replacement. If no replacement can be found, you will be written out of play (honorable suicide).
* Roles of the dead will not be revealed in thread.
* The dead players can keep playing, but they will no longer have a vote nor any night abilities.
Set-up
- Two or three "mafia": trained hitmen, from a secrect clone program. They aren't a perfect, polished product, but still skillfull enough for this assignment. They get two to three kills each night, depending on amount of sign-ups. Goal is to kill the drug baron and to leave no witnesses.
- One secret role: it"s secret.
- The drug baron : publicly known role, no special abilities, will lead the executions and decide the outcome of the voting in case of a tie. Chosen by the host.
- 3 bodyguards: they need to die first, before a succesful hit on the drug baron can be undertaken. The bodyguards know each others' identity.
- "townies": local villagers, all of them working for the drug baron as small time criminals, trying to make a living

In case anyone is wondering whether or not to join this game-
This is Andres. Right up there with GH as one of the best game hosts of them all, whose games have been consistently well-written, deceptively simple, and perfectly balanced.
It's classic mafia with an twist only Andres can deliver.
Sign up if you enjoy fun things.
20 is good, but 30 would be better. If you know anyone who might want to try his hands at a game of mafia, then please invite them over to this thread.
Looking back at the Island, I have to go in for this.
Welcome!
Sent out some 60 invitations to the people on the invite list and poked Pizza to go looking at the other fora where he hosts games to find some extra bodies. I'll leave this open for sign-ups for a few more days (unless we reach 32 sooner).
In. Thank for the invite.

We'll get you closer to your goal.
I would also recommend an ad somewhere in the new Rome II section.... players who don't come to the gameroom are recruitable, after all.
And any good mafia needs recruits. Grunts, if you will... their wetwork today will paint their path to future glory as the don of dons.

Yes. Sad humour is the best.

LOLed at all of the above. I love you Jarema - you pony-slaying madman. My daughter is not yet four so I feel your pain Andres. I feel like I know the 'Charlie & Lola' Boxed set back to front: She'll say - ' i want to see the one with the Sea Ticklers!' and my brain farts out 'Disc 6' :D
He's 2 years old and already perfectly knows what he wants. He also doesn't understand the word "no" when used against him, but uses it himself very frequently, expecting his parents servants to immediately understand His Highness. We are also expected to know what he wants before he wants it. At least, that's the impression we get, since every time Our Master wants something, He acts like He's been asking for it since hours. And I thought I lacked patience...
There's a DVD "Bumba in Space" which title confused the :daisy: out of me. I thought all those Bumba shows were happening in space! It is also my opinion that each of those damnable DVD's should come with at least 10 doses of whatever the creators were on while inventing those episodes. Surely, only somebody who was under the influence of funny substances can invent that?
Also, it's not Bumba but "mmmmba", pronouncing it with a long "mmmm" in the meanwhile pointing your finger at the television or the place where the DVD's are kept and while pulling or pushing the nearest adult.

You should keep the fact he likes My Little Pony a secret for the rest of the family. My wife, her oldest brother and all their nieces and nephews still make fun of her youngest brother because he liked playing with My Little Pony as a kid (which was considered to be for girls). He turns 30 this year...

Where does this hatred of clowns stem from?
I find it quite funny that your son loves a programme about clowns after you fought against the clown smiley all those years. Karma?

Wow. Thankfully my wife and I have been pretty successful at restricting TV in general for our kids, but more importantly not introducing them to stupidly annoying shows like this one. We mainly limit their TV to PBS educational shows like Word World and Super Why which are at least somewhat entertaining for the adults as well.
I love that so many of us have kids of a similar age. I have a 4½ year old son and 2½ year old twin daughters.
The Palace - Day 1
https://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t2/AndresTheCunning/Org/ThePalace_zpse29c8d0a.jpg
A luxuruous Palace ship in an unnamed South-American country.
The yearly festival came to an end. The people had enjoyed themselves and all of them were very pleased that they lived under the reign of Don Fernando Delgado.
Business had been good last year and all villagers had gotten a bigger bonus than usual.
That's right, under the reign of Don Fernando Delgado, you didn't pay taxes. Instead, you got a bonus, simply for living in the territory controlled by him. Having to render a minor service for the Don every now and then was nothing more than a minor nuisance you accepted.
While Don Fernando Delgado retreated to his suite, followed closely, but hardly noticed, by three shadows, the festival went on until the early morning.
It was the perfect occasion for suspiciously looking individuals to infiltrate the village...
***
And kick-off!
The game has now officially started. We start with a night phase. All of you with a role that requires to send in orders, are supposed to do so within 22 hours.
Random.org has decided that the role of Don Fernando Delgado will be played by Cornelius. He will direct the daily lynches, at least for as long as he's alive.
There is no townie role pm, but all players will get a short notice that the game has officially started.
Town wins a major victory if the Don survives and all threats are eliminated.
Town wins a minor victory if they eliminate all threats, but fail to keep the Don alive.
Good luck everybody! And don't forget to have fun!

The Palace - Night 1 - conclusion
https://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t2/AndresTheCunning/Org/vollemaan.jpg
The festival was still ongoing, but edse decided he needed a moment of rest.
He had been drinking local liquor for 7 hours straight and he really felt like he needed something to eat. Something greasy and fat. Much to his delightment, he smelled hamburgers. The smell came out of an old wooden shack. Hungry, he entered the shack. He didn't notice the grinning figure standing in the shadows.
A bit hesitant, edse walked a bit further.
"Hello?"
No answer.
"Is there somebody?"
The smell of the hamburgers was killing him. He did a few more steps and there he saw it. The most delicious hamburger he ever saw. Fat was dripping from the burger into a clean white plate. He looked to his right, then to his left. There was nobody here!
He walked over to the hamburger, grabbed it and took a bite. And another one. And another one. And...
Suddenly, he felt strange. The potassium-chlorine in his veins did its' work and soon edse died from cardiac arrest.
***
The combination of cocaine, alcohol and he didn't even know what he was smoking, made Zack feel very funny.
He was in an excellent mood. Euphoric! Don Fernando Delgado, or Donnie, as he called him, was a great guy! And this party was just f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c!
Zack decided the party needed some noise. In a previous life, he had been a Captain on a notorious vessel involved in questionable activities. He still knew how a canon worked and coincidentally, he knew there was an old canon a short walk further down the river. And that was the direction he was heading into.
"Ahoi Captain Zackbeard!" a man dressed like a local villager said. "Seems like we had the same idea!"
"Aha, great!" Zackbeard said. Is everything ready?
"Well, it seems like something isn't working. I think there's a pink elephant hiding in the canon, avoiding us from shooting it."
"An pink elephant? A pink...? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Zack started to laugh.
"Well, if somebody would go into the canon barrel to see if he can remo..."
"There's a pink elephant in the canon barrel? HAHAHAHAHA! That's impossible!" Zack couldn't stop laughing.
"But..."
"Have you ever crawled in a canons' barrel? You'll turn black! The elephant is black, not pink!"
"Well, if you say so; but I have a hard time believing this."
"Oh come on, I'll get it out and show you," Zack said, and he crawled into the barrel, still laughing hysterically.
"Hmph! Hahahahaha! Grmph! Harr umph yar ar, hahahaha!" said Zack.
His interesting monologue was interrupted by a big BANG. If it weren't for the fact that his body had been shot into thousands of little pieces, Zack would have enjoyed the beautiful full moon shining over the river.
"That went smoother than I expected," the killer said.

The Palace - Day 1
https://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t2/AndresTheCunning/Org/ThePalace_zpse29c8d0a.jpg
Don Fernando Delgado had a sad expression on his face while looking at the dead villagers. He knew these men and their families. He felt responsible. Allthough most of the people working for him lived dangerous lives, he simply knew that he was the real target. Since he didn't have a clue who could've done it, he instructed the villagers to find out who did this and to bring the one they deemed guilty before him.

The Palace - Day 1 - conclusion
https://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t2/AndresTheCunning/Org/ThePalace_zpse29c8d0a.jpg
The villagers were tired after a whole night and the better part of the morning of partying. Seemingly random accusations were being tossed around when all of the sudden, a certain villager specialised in carrying around pizza's voted the God Andres. People held their breath when Pizza committed this vile deed. There had been rumours that, not so long ago, on an unknown Island, a bit similar to this unnamed South American country, horrible things happened, supposedly after some people insulted this same God.
Many villagers started shaking their heads in disbelief. They were now afraid of the God! They wanted this day to end as soon as possible. Perhaps that was the reason why they voted for the man who would bring the night? It's hard to tell if there even was a reason why Nightbringer was deemed guilty at the end of that day.
The lazy Don Fernando Delgado, who had changed his name to Don Cornelius that day, because that was shorter and it made the life of the writer of these stories easier, since he now had to do less key strokes for the rest of this adventure, looked at the man brought before him.
"So, it was you!"
"Ehm, no sir."
"They say you did it!"
" 'They' are morons, because I didn't do it, sir!"
"You dare calling these hard working villagers 'morons'? These good people! These honest people? This is outrageous!"
Don C, which is even shorter than Don Cornelius, so let's call him that from now on, pointed his trusted FN Barracuda at Nightbringers' head. He took a sip from the bottle of Highland Park he was holding in his other hand, his favourite whisky, which he always carried with him when having to perform one of the less pleasant obligations that came with his profession, and pulled the trigger. A bullet between Nightbringers' eyes ended his life.

The King was overlooking the river, smoking a first class cigarette. He looked left and right, his hand on the holstered gun hanging on his side. The King wasn't an idiot. He knew what was happening and he was prepared to deal with it. He was a strong man. And he admired the Don. One could argue the Don was just a criminal who got a bit luckier than most people working in his branch, but The King held a different opinion. Don C, as he called himself since this day, was truly a man of honor who cared about the people under him.
While he was thinking these deep thoughts, he slowly started to lose his concentration. He didn't notice the boa constrictor crawling onboard. He heard a noise, like a small metal object that fell on the floor, to his left side. He quickly drew his gun and walked in the direction of the noise.
If he had turned to the right side, he would've seen the boa constrictor coming near.
The monstruous beast got him and The King, a good man, got strangled to death.

Gaius Scribonius Curio was sitting in his nice little house at the river bank. He had cable TV, a fast internet connection, a fridge filled with food and beer. He was a rich man, considering how other people lived in this country.
The funny neighbourhood clown had delivered him a pizza. The strange dude did this every night, while he was high on drugs. Each night, he randomly picked a villager and brought him a pizza. The guy was crazy and always talked in a loud voice about Gods and how they didn't exist and all that. He farted constantly and always had the smell of garlic hanging around him. But he did make good pizza's. Actually, it were excellent pizza's, really exquise food. And they were free, fancy that!
While he was enjoying his pizza, watching the daily 30 episodes of the very popular Bumba show, somebody knocked on his door.
He pauzed the broadcoast (yes, they had digital tv here and with digital tv, you can pause! Isn't that great?) and opened the door.
"Oh, you again! But one pizza is enough, thanks".
The figure standing before him jumped up and down.
"You're acting suspiciously normal for your doing..."
He took a closer look.
"Hey, but you're not that pizza dude! You're another monkey!"
"And he's a smarter monkey than that other one," a raw voice whispered in the night.
"Huh?" Gaius SC said.
The monkey suddenly had a rocket launcher in its' hands and pointed it at Gaius SC.
"No, don't kill me now! Bumba is on the tele..."

It had been a long day and most villagers were exhausted at the end of it.
The day had been hot, which may be an explanation why they had been so calm during this long day. Or maybe it was just laziness and perhaps Don C had been spoiling them for way too long. Maybe that's why a whip cracked when the villager deemed guilty was brought before him. The man seemed... furry. And little. And cute. And yet, he had a proud, almost arrogant attitude.
"Ok, cute man-creature, what do you have to..."
"I'm not cute. I'm Elite! ELITE! Best of the best!"
"Maybe you are, but your eliteness will stop today, since it has been decided that you are going to die."
"But, I can't die! I'm Elite!"
"Yes, you told me so. But that won't stop me from executing you. Do you have anything else to say?"
"I can't die! I'm..."
"Elite?" Don C asked, seeming getting annoyed.
"No. Well, yes. But that wasn't what I wanted to say. I cannot die, because I'm still waiting on the write-up of the Taormina game."
"I beg you pardon?"
"He promised it. So many years ago. I believe it was in 2008. What world are we living in if even the word of a God is worthless."
"I'm an atheist," Don C said, and he shrugged.
"Oh, but I can understand that. In fact, it's a perfectly reasonable attitude.... That is, it's reasonable for someone who never met the God. The very same God that Pizza clown is constantly mocking! But anyway, I can't die, because I was promised that write-up and since I believe He always tells the truth and since I believe He is a God, well..."
"Well, it seems like your God died," Don C said, pulling his trusted FN Barracuda and pointing it at Elite Ferrets' head. A bullet between his eyes ended all his hopes ever to read that write-up.
"Seems like he wasn't Elite enough to save himself out of this nor did his God love him enough to rescue him," Don C said and he holstered his gun and slowly walked back to the boat.

LazyMcCrow was out for a walk. The events from the previous days kept him awake and instead of staring at the ceiling while lying on the bed, he preferred being outside, in the moonlight.
Suddenly he heard a blast. He felt dirt falling on his face. It took a while before he realized he was lying flat on the ground, staring at the stars and the full moon. Another blast almost deafened him.
He slowly crawled on his feet, stood up, and ran away while grenade after grenade exploded near him. This went on for a couple of minutes until finally, one of the grenades hit him, reducing his body to a bloody pulp.

Montmorency was a man with class and style. He was wearing his favourite suit, while standing on the river bank, smoking an expensive cigar. He wasn't the kind of man who would put all his profit on a savings account or who invested in retirement plans. No, he was a man who lived here and now.
Nice clothes, expensive cigars, real champagne instead of cheap sparkling wine alternatives. That was him.
While strolling along the river bank, being classy and stylish, he didn't notice the other man standing in the shadows of a group of trees.
"Smoking isn't good for you," the man said.
Montmorency, classy and stylish as always, managed to hide his surprise and replied calmly:
"Nobody gets out of here alive. We all die some day. Might as well enjoy the ride while it lasts. I like the taste of this cigar, so I smoke it."
The man laughed softly and suddenly, he threw a grenade. Montmorency quickly ducked down and covered his ears. Much to his surprise, there was no explosion, but when he opened his eyes, he saw smoke everywhere. Coughing and wiping his teary eyes clear, Montmorency stumbled around. Suddenly, he lost his balance and fell into the river.
The strong current instantly pulled him down and the classy Montmorency drowned.

Don C was standing on the deck of the Palace-ship. At his feet the body of the late Montmorency and some remains of what appeared to have been LazyMcCrow.
"Dear villagers," Don C said, and he paused.
"Dear villagers," Don C repeated, shaking his head.
"Dear Villagers," Don C said, "I am very disappointed. It seems like the social cohesion in this village isn't strong enough to flush out a few suspicious looking murderers. I had hoped this village didn't suffer from modern deceases like individualism and isolation, but it seems like my hope was in vain."
Don C sighed.
"You know what you need to do. Go ahead."

a. Compute the steady-state concentration of benzene in the room.
b. Assuming the air in the room is initially free of benzene, compute the time necessary for benzene to reach 95% of the steady-state concentration."
I have figured out part a (pretty simple). But for the love of God, part b has been tripping me up for the past 3 days.
I get that it is just a mass balance, but on the left hand we have 95% steady state concentration with a known volume which comes to be 10.26 grams of benzene in the room. On the right hand side, we gotta take the integral of the rate of benzene mass coming in. Now obviously we have the integral of 1g/min from 0 to t, but since some is being removed by the ventilation, we gotta subtract from the 1 g/min that (10m^3/min * concentration at a given t). And there is where I am stuck. :(

Solved it I believe. No integral needed. Express the concentration in the room as a function of time. The limit of the function is 1/10 g/m³ which equals 10,8 g of benzene (you got this answer already, 95% of it equals 10,26 g). Then you know that the concentration at time t times the volume of the room (= amount of benzene in the room at time t) should be 10,26g, break out t of the equation and you get the answer.
Edit: I realised that the conversion to grams is unnecessary. Just take 95% of the concentration at the steady-state at put that equal to C(t).

He specifically disavowed the notion that games could be responsible for his silence or inattention.
Criminal...
But I'm surprised by ACIN's barefaced... I wouldn't be too cut-up over his lynch. And there is one other vote that weakens my certainty in your scumminess...
Still, you should be lynched at length for your misdeeds.
He specifically disavowed the notion that games could be responsible for his silence or inattention.
No, he made it clear that he was 'distracted' by a game and thus not focusing fully on this, while at the same time proving that he was reading the thread and paying attention. Since then he's been silent for 6 days, including missing an entire lynch. I have problems with this. First, GH is not the type to negligently ignore a game, particularly an Andres classic-style game. Second, GH intentionally inserted a minor 'real life' excuse for his lack of posting right from the very start, which I find scummy. Out of town? Sure. Work schedule issues? Absolutely. Those are normal GH reasons for not being around for a mafia game. Game playing is not something I've ever heard him cite before.

I haven't had much experience with many of the victims thusfar - so one guess from me, would be their contemporaries. CSargo and TheFlax stand out for me on a read through. That is all. For now :)

But if it were a scum ruse wouldn't it be smarter to just vote? Resting entirely quiet during a lynch would make him look suspicious. But same as Lazy I don't know him so other players might be better to judge.

I'm not making him skip 6 days of posting. GH is AWOL from this game, that's a fact. That alone is not unusual for him, it has happened before. However when it does happen he tells us why it's going to happen and regrets it, because GH is always highly respectful of game hosts. In this case, he is absent and has said not a word except for that bit about playing a game. I could certainly be reading too much into the statement, but even if I'm wrong then the only thing we're left with is GH AWOL without any explanation. That is unusual for him. Unusual is scummy.
But if it were a scum ruse wouldn't it be smarter to just vote? Resting entirely quiet during a lynch would make him look suspicious. But same as Lazy I don't know him so other players might be better to judge.
WIFOM. The fact is that GH is silent under unusual circumstances. Beyond that is just speculation.
I don't understand why TinCow's single vote on GH is getting such scrutiny, while he got a couple of votes against him with little reasoning that didn't seem to provoke any kind of stir.

Scum GH knows that intentional lurking and avoiding the game will allow him to skip merrily almost all the way through the game, if not completely through the game.
When we badger him about his activity enough, or he nearly gets lynched, he may/may not abruptly and temporarily become more active. That in and of itself may allow him more time, since we are all too forgiving for a bloodthirsty lynch mob.
And if simple apologies and empty promises to behave aren't enough, he'll go into super-GH mode and begin posting like he cares. That, too, will pacify us because we're weak and we're shameful and we deserve to lose if we allow that.
Ergo, lynch GH and he won't need to give us any excuses.

The Palace - Day 3 - Conclusion

Like usual, Don C was very silent during the proceedings.
For some reason, all this silence made the villagers feel uneasy and so they started to vote for the silent ones.
"The silent ones are the most dangerous!" one said.
"Indeed,' another one added, "during my days in the military, the silent ones were the ice cold killers. All veterans know that you don't mess with the silent types."
"I'm not silent!" a silent villager said, "I'm busy with chemistry! You all know Don C always needs good chemists to work in his labs. I'm inventing some new explosive drugs!" After this statement, the scientist villager ran off for yet another crazy experiment. His weird haircut and the black stains on his face, made his claims believable and so attention was shifted to other silent types.
Some of those silent types, stayed silent forf the entire day, just like Don C. Perhaps they were just following their leader? Or were they indeed ice cold killers who weren't impressed fast?
Suddenly, one of the silent types said a few words.
"Aha, it must be him! The pressure is too much. He also has huge testicles. Something must be wrong with that guy."
And so, at the end of the day, the man with the big testicles was brought before Don C.
Don C didn't say a word. He simply nodded. GeneralHankerchief nodded back. Both men were silent and kept staring at each other.
"Boring!" somebody yelled.
"Make him scream! Let us hear his voice. That damnable cold murderer!"
But Don C and the General didn't say a word.
Silently, Don C drew his FN Baracuda. For the occasion, it had a silencer. A silent 'pop' was heard and GH silently fell down, a bullet between his eyes ending his life, but not his silence.

Crap, didn't realize the round was going to end that early.
Anyway, my plan was to post a "defense" so obviously and laughably terrible it would draw people looking for the easy lynch target in - i.e. scum looking to clear the round. There were three people who reacted to this before the round ended - ideally I would have had more time to work with this, but ah well. TinCow's exempt since he was the first person to bring up my lurking in this game, but I'd give Ishmael and BSmith a hard look in future rounds.

Well I solved it, but I did have to do an integral. I couldn't just construct C(t) with what I had. I created a separable ODE that pretty much had dC/dt (change in concentration over change in time) = (1-(10*C))/108
By working with ODE magic, obviously you move everything over the dC side and bring the dt over to the other side and then you can integrate both sides of (dC*108)/(1-10C) = dt
Answer in the book states 32.35 min, and that is what I got. If you got that as well, I want to ask how you can get C(t) without having to do the integration.

The Palace - Night 4 - Conclusion
https://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t2/AndresTheCunning/Org/vollemaan.jpg
That night, El Barto was walking down the dirt roads of the village. He was a bit worried about the recent events, but was confident that Don C would solve all their problems. Those problems were nothing compared to his other problems, anyway.
El Barto was a man who liked gambling. And allthough he had a more than reasonable income, he made a lot of debts. In fact, he didn't just like gambling, he was an addict. And he needed money. Lots of money. And fast.
While he was walking down the dirt roads of the village, thinking about his problems, he saw a large piece of paper. It looked a bit like a map. In fact, it was a map! A very simple one. It showed the village, the river, and in the vicinity of a well known large tree, there was an "X" with "treasure" written next to it.
Could it be true? Could this mean the end of all his problems? He quickly went back home, picked up his shovel and ran towards the spot, the map in his hands.
When he arrived, he took a sip of water, spat in his hands and started. He just kept going and going and didn't notice a dark figure coming near.
"Are you looking for something?" a voice said.
El Barto's heart stopped for a few seconds when hearing that voice.
"You shouldn't sneak up on a man like that. I almost died of a heart attack!"
"That would be most unfortunate," the voice said.
El Barto's greed got the better of him and he stared suspicious at the dark figure.
"Anyway, I would appreciate it if you'd go mind your own business elsewhere. This is my pit, my shovel, I'm digging."
"Digging your own grave?"
"No, I'm looking for... But it doesn't concern you. Just go away."
"You're at approximately six feet," the man said.
"Just go awa..."
Two bullets from a silenced gun hit El Barto's kneecaps and he collapsed, screaming in agony.
The dark figure came near and picked up the shovel.
"I've once been told that being buried alive is one of the most awful ways to die. A pity you won't be able to tell me about the experience..."

issaikhaan was in excellent shape. He had been working out for a few hours and has just finished patrolling. He finally had some time for his own now and he would use it to play his favourite computer game: Rome : Total War. He switched on his computer and went to an obscure forum to look for tips. As soon as he mentioned the game R:TW, a few elitists posted about how idiotic that game was and how the even older games M:TW and S:TW were so much better and only idiots played R:TW. After getting an infraction point in a heated discussion about the AI, issaikhaan finally had enough and challenged one of the so-called elitists to face him in a R:TW MP battle.
"Allright," the other person on the internet said, "let's do this. I guarantee you'll lose so hard, that you'll literally explode from anger."
And so it happened. issaikhaan positioned his troops cowardly on one corner of the map, on a hill.
His opponent marched his army closer, constantly insulting 'khaan with words like "noob" and "Heineken-lover".
Sweat was dripping from issaikhaan's head while he was trying very hard not to start screaming against his monitor. He didn't like being insulted.
His opponent came near and used tactics issaikhaan never would've thought about and he was destroyed in seconds. It was a very humiliating defeat and issaikhaan couldn't help himself and started to scream and yell against his computer, ramming his keyboard, spouting out obscenities with no end and almost dieing at a heart attack. When he stood up to throw his keyboard into his monitor, he triggered the C4 attached to his desk.

Don C stood in front of the villagers.
"Greed and computer games, my friends, are our doom. Greed and violent computer games will cause our downfall. A treasure hunter and a fan of violent video games died tonight. This cannot be a coincidence! Greed and computer games! From now on and until we found the murderers among us, computer games and treasure hunting are strictly forbidden!"
With those historic words, Don C sat down in his comfortable chair, a cigar in his left hand, a bottle of his favourite whisky in his other hand.

The Palace - Day 4 - Conclusion
https://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t2/AndresTheCunning/Org/ThePalace_zpse29c8d0a.jpg
A lot of talking had been going on that day, but at the end of it, it turned out the villagers hadn't been able to make up their minds. And so, they brought two suspects in front of their Don, who was sitting calmly on his chair. Apparently, the Don had undergone some drastic plastic surgery. He also had changed his name into Don E. Was this an attempt to confuse the murderers? Or was he just a bit vain? Who would tell what played in the mind of such a great man?
Don E stood up and looked at the two men brought before him.
"Well, why do you bring me these two men? What are their crimes?"
"Well, we're not sure they actually did commit crimes, but both men are suspicious for reasons of spelling."
"I beg you pardon?"
"Well, this first man, Ishmael is guilty of not being able to spell his own name. Everybody knows the Nae'blis' name is spelled Ishamael."
"I see. And the other one?"
"He's lazy."
"Lazy?"
"Yes, he's too lazy to spell his given name. It's probably Bill, Bernard or BoyamItoolazytospellmygivenname, but instead of writing it out, he simply attaches the first letter of his given name to his surname. A boring surname too. "Smith". How unoriginal can you be; this is evidence that his ancestors were also lazy. Nothing good can come of lazy people."
"So, this... Nae'blis and this lazy one are both guilty?"
"Well, Don E, we need your wisdom to sort this one out."
Don E nodded silently and took a long sip from his whisky.

Not that that makes me scum or townie....just disappointing on my part.:shame:
Csargo has more votes then me and just as many posts....isn't that suspect or should you worry about that when there is hardly any lynch's left?
Quite frankly, there are so many lurkers in this game that it's making it difficult to do much of an analysis on anything. Even lynching the lurkers won't help at this point because there's too many of you guys.

You can always lynch the lurkers that are hanging around just enough to not get WoGed. Autolycus wouldn't be a bad choice for next round, assuming nothing comes up overnight.

The 24 hour rounds are indeed putting a damper on the usual town activity.
The Palace - Day 4 - Conclusion

...
Don E nodded silently and took a long sip from his whisky.
He looked at BSmith and took a long sip from his whisky.
He sighed.
He looked at Ishmael and took a long sip from his whisky.
"BSmith, the lazy guy."
Another sip from his whisky.
"Or Ishmael, who can't even spell his own name."
Another sip from his whisky.
"Ishmael or BSmith."
Another sip from his whisky.
"I need a moment," Don E said. He stood up and went inside.
Ishmael and BSmith were nervously looking at each other and at the door in which Don E disappaeared.
After only 30 seconds, Don E came back.
"Forgot my whisky, sorry."
And he went back in.
A minute later he came back out, two bottles of whisky in his hands.
"You both probably appreciate this while I take my moment."
Ishmael and BSmith both took a bottle, opened it and started drinking.
Hours passed. Ishmael and BSmith were both drunk, laughing, singing and crying all at the same time. A villager brought them even more whisky.
Suddenly, Don E came out.
"So, this is exciting, isn't it?"
Both men hardly reacted.
Don E went back in.
An hour later, he came out, clearly under influence of something. He was wearing a dark cloak and was in the comp''any of two women.
"BSmith!" he said.
BSmith stood up, his head down. Ishmael had tears of hapiness falling down from his sheeks. You could hear him whisper "Thank you. Oh thank you Great Lord. Thank you, thank you thank you."
Don E looked at BSmith. "You're free to go."
BSmith couldn't believe his luck and quickly ran away before Don E could change his mind.
Ishmael stared at the Don in disbelief. "But, Great Lord, I'm the Nae'blis."
"No, you are not. The Nae'blis is able to spell his name. You are not."
"But, but, but..."
"How many times have we been here? How many times did I have to torture you, kill you, make you suffer because of your misspelled name?"
"Ehm, well, it's just that it's not easy to change your name once you've picked one. People..."
"People are just resources! Surely, one of the Forsaken doesn't care about ordinary men?"
Ishmael opened his mouth, but an invisible force closed it.
"I'm not interested in whatever you have to say. I'll leave you in the hands of Graendal and Moghedien whom I summoned for the occasion.
The two women standing next to the Don came forward. They were both wearing black leather jackets, black leather boots, showed some serious cleavage and had endless legs. One was blond, the other one had brown hair. They both looked stunning. Those were the advantages of the excellent plastic surgery available in this Era.
"Hi, 'Nae'blis'," the blond said, stressing the word and grinning.
Ishmael tried to scream, but he couldn't. He reached for the one true power, but was blocked by a wall. He panicked. Suddenly, something hit him. A deep wound, invisible for others, but he felt it the more. Something cut him off from the source. He had lost his ability to Channel! He wanted to cry, but he couldn't. Packed Air held him at his place. Suddenly, he felt something touching him. Inside his head.
What followed can only be described as an explosion of orgasms. He wanted to scream and cry out of pure pleasure and joy, but he couldn't. This was so pleasant that it could kill him. Deep inside him, he became scared, but it wasn't possible to think. Suddenly, it stopped.
"You see," Graendal told Moghedien. "The pleasure zone is really close to the pain zone. I once killed a man because I gave him too much pleasure. Anyway, now I'll show you were the pain centers are. If you do it carefully, it can take years before he dies while he's in constant pain."
All of the sudden, a silver line appeared and opened. At the other side was a barren wasteland, cold and windy. Something lifted Ishmael and toghether with Graendal and Moghedien he disappeared through the gate...

It's now night. Night will end within
Since there seems to be a feeling that the days are too short, I'll make the next day phases 48 hours long; the night phases will stay at 24 hours
