Hey Lordz, got a few questions
1:I'm doing a Seven Years War mod (not promising anything) and I was wondering, could I use a model or more
2:This is a two part one.
A)Could you make a unit with that metallic hat, and make it the Faction color kind.
B)Could you make a map of Germany, Hanover area. From like Upper netherlands, down to Switzerland, across to Budapest, Up to the Baltic, and include some of Denmark.
I know this is a sort of big order as your

Greetings Suraknar, NTW is as you said not completed,
We do have a nice working version that can be played in SP,MP and custom Battle modes, we are constantly changing, and adding or improving things as we go along, so it is a work in progress.
Do give it a try and also be sure to visit our own forums for NTW info and support the link is at the bottom of my posts in my signature. Cheers...LOS

MM, anything in respect of using models or units and such from NTW you would do better to ask LK personally.
As to your requests for unit and Map I cant speak for everyone in the group, but most are very busy at the moment.
NTW is a priority for us...LOS
I've seen a few screen-captures of this mod, and I can most honestly say that I'm impressed. However, I don't have VI, only plain M:TW, and it's my understanding that N:TW won't work with M:TW, correct?
Anyways, going to Helsinki today (just waiting for a train to catch) and I've planned to buy VI there. After the necessary testing and raiding the Europe, I'm most certainly going to download your mod.

PS, what can I say more besides of this? Wait, now I know:
"You're all so MARVELLOUS, I love you, you're my idols Keep up the good work" http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif
PPS, don't care about that last "newbie like" sentence. Just look at those little quotation marks over there (those marks are quite handy, don't they http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ).

Can you order your infantry to form square formations to defend themselves against calvary charges.
In the last version, I got really upset that my infantry kept on running away and routing when they got charged by enemy calvary.

Greetings Crimson, The square formation is a nut we have not been able to crack fully yet,
we have been able to adapt the games version of sqaure a sort of rectangle open in the rear.
And as the the infantry running, we have made alot of progress in that area, if you have the latest version 2.09 I think you will be pleased with the way it plays now.

As with the juggling, i sort of expected something like that response, just asked.
Thanks LoS
Good Work.
Also, in regard to the Naval battle, had a cool idea.
How about using the Mongol ships fom STW/MI. Shrink them a little, and view wise, just need to add for the Bifs.
A)Explosions
B)Cannons poking out
C)Sails catching wind.
However this requires quite a deal of work, which i'm sure you can't handle now.
For further reference.

Good on ya
Its just that your mod is really good - and remember successful mods like Counterstrike eventually made it to great commercial success - however, I don't think its developers got any material benefit from it. Which I think is quite sad.

Have you tried putting your entire army in square formation. Let's see if the cav can outflank thatThis is not my idea it has been said alot of times.
I've never had my men run from cav(edit:ok never might be too strong a word) i just set the whole army up in line formation with the edges defused, with the hold order and hold fire order. Then gradually move them forward, i find when vs the comp you can march the boys right into enemy fire then once the line is atleast half engaged open fire.
When cav threatens just hold your fire until they are half the range then let loose, they will run. If they try to scoot around the side your defused sides can cover the threat. Oh and don't have the defused boys on stand ground that way they can respond to the threat without micromanagment http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
It does pay to have 1 or 2 cav as a mobile reserve tho

I installed the mod, I was astonished at what great work you guys have done Just incredible
I do have a few questions however:
A) Do you have plans to make sfx and exhaust animation for when cannon fire?
B) Will the picture and text for "regimental colours" be in the next release?
C) When the Turks de their bodies don't show up so I have no idea how many of them I'm klling.
Other than that it's incredible Keep up the great work

Hi
Congratulations with the Mod, I like very much the big changes you have done, new ships, units that look better than the origanal from MTW etc.
But am becoming bored with the tactical battles because the AI is not much of a challenge, I am almost finnished playing as the French but so far have not lost one battle, and I am not a great player.
Have you guys found out how to imrove this in single player,
and will there be a patch?
Thanks very much

Hi guys and welcome to the NTW experience,
Thanks for you're kind remarks ,
As im sure you're aware NTW is still a 'beta' at the moment - we are still testing and developing the mod - you're suggestions have been noted :)
The Lordz are working on the AI's performance in battle (are you playing on Expert level?) - this is a mammoth task in itself as we have to convince the units that they arent in the 12th Century any more....already the AI has come along way and im sure Lord of Storms & co. will soon have this area in hand.
The smoke issue has been of interest to me for a while - i believe it to be 'hard coded' and not a moddable part of the game. - any advice fellow modders?
If you would like more of a challenge try NTW online - you can find more info on this at our forum.
http://thelordz.co.uk/phpBB2/index.php
there are sections on all aspects of NTW here also.....

Hi BKS, Well I guess it comes down to the situation, what units are invloved, if they are exhausted, fresh etc. I like to exhaust my ammo if I can and wear them down before I attempt a charge or if I realize the enemy is preparing to charge me, I like to try and gain the iniative and charge first, if you can set a line of men behind your charging unit for fire support. sometimes a well planned charge can turn the battle and cause the other units to rout, I noticed this once when I was being out gunned and I decide to charge a few of my units in, then the tide started to turn , so I went crazy and charged my remaining units and to my surprise the enmey units all turned tail and ran..LOS

With the red lancer in game screen shots, i have a question
why dont my units look as polished as those in game?
is that just a model renderer (i doubt it because you have all of the unit commands at the top)
i saw the chariots and thought the smae thing
why are my units a pixelated mess?

It was not an implication of being clueless, just a very common problem we see often on our forums for NTW, many of us are used to seeing all the avalable eras on the period select screen and are not accustom to having to scroll through and down for choices,I was merely offering some assitance http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif ...LOS

Nice mod, 9.7/10. But, there are a few thing bugging me. 1, it screws up the origional game. 2. There are some grafical errors, like invisible corpses. 3. The AI is incredibly stupid ( I dont think it is smart to not move at all while artillery and riflmen kill 800= men, without a single casualty to the riflemem). Other than that, an exceptionally great mod (felt more like a new game than a mod).

I thought that the mod could really benefit from some more variety in unit descriptions. It's a bit boring to see every infantry unit say "well as a rule, 75% of your army should be infantry etc. etc."
And yes, the invisible corpses really detract from the overall feel of the mod.

OK to address these statements:
1= what do you mean by "screws up the original game"
first most mods do indeed render the original game unplayable, this is no secret but it also is not screwing it up, just the nature of a mod.
2= this mod as stated in the read me is in "Beta" which means its being developed, so bugs like this will occur we are well aware of them.
3= the AI being stupid is something you will have to take up with CA the games developers, when making a mod there is little control over AI behavior, and this has been a problem with MTW people have whined about for some time...LOS

At this moment the Lordz are implementing all new unit graphics that where created using 3D programs like the ones in HTW or METW(no 3D units of course),i can assure you they look stunningLOS himself is working on a new campmap that will add to the high quality the mod has.A total new techtree is being introduced more historically in line with the Napoleonic period.New unit description and all sort of other graphical changes. So Gentleman if you think you had a different game now already hold to your pantiesAs LOS said a mod is almost forever a beta because it is a dynamic process so always expect minor bugs like in any other mod, secondly some things are hardcoded within the MTW game engine so cannot be changed or have unwanted effects these things cannot be changed. The Lordz made a excellent game,in my opinion the best around if you want to enjoy Napoleonic warfare

I understand. I was just stating this so you can adress it while further developing the mod. By screws up the game, I mean that, while the origional game works, the unit grafics are all screwed up. Like, Naptha throwers and Byzantine infantry look like corpses, and riderless horses. If it wasn't for that, the origional game would be fine. Also, the graphical glitches are bearable, and mostly just minor stuff, and I have no clue how to do this kind of stuff, so I shouldn't really say anything. However, one thing that is not a glitch which I do not like is the new Castle Graphics on the Campaign map, however such a minor thing is not enough to crucifix the makers of this mod. Just my opinion. Good Job, Great Mod, and Good luck on future mods.

This is why with mods like NTW or HTW we always give the advise to make a second clean install of MTW:VI and than install the mod because the original game cannot be played anymore, but a lot of people don't read instructions or ignore that advise. So just install these mods alongside MTW:VI and you have no problems http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
