Hi y'all
First I'd like to thank this wonderful forum for giving me the opportunity to be a part of it and for sharing all the helpful info you need to know about this game. I've played this game for a whole year, before I realized that I wasn't getting any better and looked for some info on the net. Luckily, I stumbled upon this furom, and since, I my game play has improved so much more
I'm wrapping up my campaign with the Aragonese. It was year 1300, and I had only 2 or 3 provinces to conquer for a TD game. I pride myself in fighting every battle, even the most unimportant ones. I also tech up and micromanage all provinces. Needless to say by the end of the campaign it takes forever to complete a year. Takes me about a month for a campaign. IMO you get to feel the faction better, you get to familiarize with all their weaknesses and advantages. Unfortunatelly, I didn't have the chance to use any of the famous Lancers, but I did get to enjoy the teched up Chivalrick Knights from Tolouse. Anyway...
I was getting excited about starting my new campaign with the Byzantines (yeah, I play them in alfabetical order, how lame is that? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-juggle.gif ) So when the Pope reappeared, it was like 20 years since he was gone just when I conquered the last Byzantine province, I was like oh, nooo He had over 3000 troops all FK, MS, PA, A, Arqueb, Gunners, CS, CMA. No junk units. I gathered around 2000 of my best troops. My initial army consisted of 7 CMAs, 2 CKs, 2 Jinettes, 1 RK, 2 CS, 1 Culverin and 1 Mangonel ( the later 2 replaced by a Turcoman unit and a PA unit. I had a really good defencive position in Rome. I've never seen a map like that - I was on a plateau with steep slopes - it was just perfect At the end it was : 2325 dead papists vs 137() dead of my own guys. That's like 17 to one kill ratio (considering Pope's army was no junk). I am just amazed with the win. I thought about how beautiful it was all day today. I did save the replay http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif .
Anyway, just wanted to share my hapiness with y'all, that's all. Anyone else had experiences like that? Share them here, I'd be glad to read about them.
