Some games have their music in plain .mp3 format in a directory for anyone to mess with, but RTW has its clumped up in a >100 MB .dat file. They are in .mp3 there somewhere, though, because the music.idx file in \Data\sounds\, when opened with a text editor, has text strings like:
"sounds/music/Mobilize1-Journey_to_Rome_Part2.mp3"
This leads me to believe that it's possible to somehow pry the mp3's out so that I can listen to the music when I won't be playing (even though the thought of playing right now feels blasphemous :) ). Is there a way? Has someone already come up with a little program like has been done with e.g. the Homeworld games ?
